Hello
I'd love to join this thread, I don't drink too much (or do I?) I'd be really happy buying one bottle of wine on Friday & making it last over the weekend - but as usual on Friday I bought a bottle of Rioja & drunk the lot. Didn't have a problem not drinking last night but I know by Wednesday I'll be feeling antsy & by Thursday if the usual pattern persists I'll get another bottle...
Anyway well done to everyone who's on here & dealing with it!Proud to be dealing with my debts

Well done Jo- perhaps we can give you a new job as the threads 'Head of Resistance'? I know what its like to feel really peeved because people don't agree that its a good idea for you to have a drink, but looking back I know they were absolutely right and they were only doing it because they really cared about me, and not because they wanted to ruin my fun and control me (which is what I thought at the time). Tough call, but you must be so proud of yourself for not drinking.
Well done everyone else, whichever stage you are at, particularly those in double figures AFD- I was looking over the thread yesterday and can't believe how far some of us have come, brilliant.
Off to the pub for lunch-but have volunteered to drive (yes people will get in a car with me now!!!!!)and have stuff to do after too- busy, busy, busy- trying to do more stuff as I need to get really tired at the end of the day as I'm still not really sleeping and if I knacker myself out physically it might help.0 -
Well done to you all. There is a really positive feel to this thread at the moment.Keep it up.
Jo ,I'm glad you didnt cave in .You must be feeling really proud of yourself.
Yesterday at the wedding was really hard. The hardest day since giving up.
We were sat 4 to a small round table with three bottles of wine per table:eek:
The sherry and champagne also flowed freely all day.
Boy was I tempted ,as we were even in walking (staggering????)distance of home.
I decided to just have a small glass of champagne to toast the Bride & groom  but some one was watching over me.
My brother in law said 'will it be the first of 'Oh , ive had one so one more wont hurt?...... and I new it would, so I sheepishly raised my glass and then poured the champagne into my DH glass.
How I survived I'll never know but I did.
DH could hardly stand when I drove him home;) :A
I am sooooooooooooo proud.
Its all thanks to you peeps on here that I stay on the straight and narrow.
THANK YOU ALL XXXXXXXX
See you later

Well done to all of you who have managed to stay alcohol free.
I really need to cut down but with all the stress I have been under, the calls and letters from banks etc have sent me straight to the wine bottle !!
But, I have an open bottle in the fridge, I will finish that and then that is that, I have to stop, or at least cut down to one or two nights a week, every night is crazy!
I use this thread as my helping hand if that's ok?0 -
No problem In a Mess.
There are some lovely people on MSE/DFW and some of the nicest are on here.
Good luck

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well. Watched 'Somethings gotta give' last night (haven't seen it before & enjoyed it) anyway one scene a character is sitting with a glass of wine (mmm old trigger there)....then I thought well it doesn't really matter whats in the glass does it? I realise this sounds odd - I think what I'm trying to say is you have a drink because you pressume thats what you do - but if at the end of the day you are having a non-al drink & end up feeling better about yourself thats what really counts? MM - I think the thing is - if you think you have a problem; you have a problem (anything else you could buy to help you feel better - basket of fruit or something) I know it aint the same - but come Monday you would feel better - and again I'm waffling but thats what counts...best..Mx0
