OMG eselt, you don't know what a coke float is!! You are seriously missing something in your life!

Wow Jo, that looks... ermm, a bit of a monster...I've drunk some dodgy looking stuff in my time...14 yr old is up for it but we've only got limeade and peppermint/choc vienetta in the house...could work I suppose? Well done on the sobriety front too Jo- you sound so much brighter and positive.

Good luck to all the abstainers and cutting downers today.

When I was a kid we used to put a scoop of vanilla icecream in lemonade but I never heard of putting it in coke!

I felt a bit guilty on Monday morning because I had a glass of rose wine with my dinner on Sunday evening. This glass led to another and another until I had drunk the whole bottle!:o I felt quite ashamed Monday morning so I have abstained since and managed not to drink Monday night or last night. Don't know if I'll manage a 3rd night tonight. I find its easier if hubby isn't drinking and he won't have any more to drink until tomorrow. I find a cup of decaff tea and some toast and marmalade takes the craving away!

    Morning all,

You can put ice cream in practically any fizzy drink. Vanilla is the best in my opinion, but that's what I grew up with. Awww it reminds me of my dear ole dad, he used to take me every Saturday afternoon to the ice cream parlour near where we lived and he'd have a chat and a coffee with the owner whilst I sat and had my ice cream float with a straw and a long spoon!

I had a look at the wiki page for ice cream floats, it's quite interesting, gives some variations.....obviously it had to be American! I think it really took off over here in the 50's and 60's when they had milk bars and ice cream parlours (I wasn't actually born then!).

Day 14 for me today, it will be 2 weeks tomorrow. It's still not easy in the slightest, I think of drinking every day but luckily OH knows I've quit so it'd be very difficult for me to drink and not get caught cos he's (secretly) watching me like a hawk. If I go to the shop over the road for anything I get 20 questions about what I intend to buy!

Good luck YM for today :)

    MP, glad you're ok x

WB, how did you do last night?

    Shoppy, how did you do?

Beth, don't beat yourself up about Sunday, at least you've notched up 2 drink free days :)

eselt, your 14yo will be hooked on ice cream floats!

Rose, thanks for the tip, that actually sounds delish, I think I'll give it a go :)

Bis, I know you've told us before, but how long have you stopped drinking for now? You still think about it?? That's really doesnt make me feel good! I hope you soon get to the point where you no longer think of it :)

Dunno what we're doing today, I'm getting fed up with OH being off for the week now cos we've got to go places everyday....roll on next Monday when I can relax and actually do some housework :rotfl:

    xx
