  • Afternoon everyone,

Please excuse my absence for the last few days I have been reading but not posting as I have been very very bad on the alcohol front :o I don't know what has happened but since Thursday last week I have had a few drinks every day  Anyway I am going to TRY and abstain for three days now, I am going out on Friday (my friend is treating me to a meal for my birthday) so will be having a few then.

Well done to all keeping to their targets and good luck to all those who are struggling :D

I've found a new drink, grapefruit juice with indian tonic water and loads of ice, it's sweet and sharp and very very yummy!

Good luck WB and Shoppy, I'll be thinking of ya :)

We're off to the pictures I think, to see Wall-E as it's pouring down. Catch you all later!

I have been very very bad on the alcohol front :o:D

Bet not as bad as me, I really fell amongst thieves at the weekend. Despite the fact I probably had 2-months-worth of alcohol units in 3 days I was the lightweight! OMG even I had no idea people could drink so much. Or start so early. Or carry on so long. Or drink so fast. There was no silliness (well, by which I mean no rows, violence or sickness) all v well behaved really & good fun but I far exceeded my usual (rather high 2 bottles :o ) limits, & I was probably the most obviously drunk, but at least I stayed on wine whilst the others hit the vodka/gin/whisky/brandy. Yeuch! Even had the sense to go on the diet cokes Sunday eve to be OK for work yesterday. I emerged remarkably unscathed & indeed feel OK  but I don't spose it's done me much good (understatement of the year)?

But good news - finally crept home to find....no leaks!! Might pursue second career as a roofer. Am leaving bucket & towels in place just in case but phew!

Jo I've had grapefruit & tonic it's lovely. I cannot do sweet drinks & it really hits the spot - but I've not had one in years so thank you for the reminder will buy both tomorrow!! Let us know what Wall-E was like?

I also love smoothies, they seem expensive but you can usually get one on offer for £2, I am unlikely to drink the entire carton in one night, & compared with £8 for 2 botts of wine (which I will drink in one night.....). Otherwise it's gallons of builders tea (Yorkshire tea bags)!

Hope you're all having good days (shoppy cook a lovely meal on that new hob of yours)

Back to life, and thank you so much for all the positive posts on here- sometimes when I think about throwing in the towel I log on here and get so much motivation from you all- don't know how I would of sobered up without you guys- thankyou so much.

I think about throwing in the towel most days....it's only a passing thought really but it's still there....bit of petulance maybe on my part..anyway....dreamt last night that I really went for it....on real ale...bizarre...couldn't work out why...

    Anyway...on a lighter note...coke floats...hmmm hmmm...and ribena and milk...oh yes!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Hope everyone is OK- my fed up mood seems to have lifted and the urge to say sod it and neck loads seems to have gone too- close shave though.

I know this sounds like a really daft question, but what exactly is a coke float??!!!! Asked my sis earlier on and she's never heard of it either- she thought it could be something to do with Amy Winehouse until I told her it was a soft drink!!!!!

OMG eselt, you don't know what a coke float is!! You are seriously missing something in your life!

    Have a looky here

Just beware that once it's prepared, don't move it too much or it will explode!

WB, Wall-E was great, just wished I hadn't taken the 3 year old for her first visit to the cinema, she would not sit still!

    Day 13 over with, I've saved £45.50 :D

Hope you've all had a good evening xx

Here is another idea for an alcohol sutstitute. It is an Italian idea and is called an afogato. It is just black coffee and scoop of any ice cream. My bil who stopped drinking 3 yeafs ago after a severe stroke has one every day at his local coffee shop who also make home made ice cream. He has a different flavour every day. My OH has also been sober for 5 months , although we finally split after 27 years 4 months ago. There is more to life than drink!
