Thanks all :) Day 2 here we come!

The counsellor and physco advised me to stick the reduction plan and yesterday was to be the first day without. It's kinda good have a date in your head for quitting so you can prepare yourself, although the weeks leading up to it felt like a slow painful torture, but I'm at the finish line now and can't go back. Last night was 'relatively' easy in that even though our school broke up on Wednesday I still had to go in yesterday (and will today) to finish up. So I didn't get home till 5pm then had a quick shower and change and then go up to the West End to meet a friend for dinner and go see Monty Python's Spamalot. I took the car to the station so that I wouldn't have to wait at the bus stop late at night or get a cab, plus that meant I couldn't drink ;) Got home at 11.30pm, made a coffee, then went to bed. My friend had 3 large glasses of wine at £7 a piece from the theatre   I had a bottle of water for £2.20 and didn't smell like a wino on the tube train home like my friend did...I didn't tell her but alcohol on peoples breath when you're not drinking is disgusting!

Spamalot was hysterical by the way, if you are in London and get the chance you must go see it, especially whilst Sanjeev Bhaskar is playing King Arthur, he is so funny!

Have a good day everyone, good luck to all :)

This is so true. You only notice when you aren't drinking yourself. My daughter sometimes comments on my alcohol breath and I really notice it on my husband when Im not drinking too. Not nice!

Im back after 2 weeks' holiday (bet no one noticed I was gone!:o ) Ive been reading through this thread to get caught up. Im pleased to say that I didn't drink too much on holiday but I did eat too much! The food was so nice and there was so much of it too!

We had bbc1, bbc2 and itv1 and itv2 on our tv in our hotel room and whilst on holiday I just happened to watch Jonathon Ross who was interviewing Chaka Khan (sang "Im every woman" and "I Feel For You"). I thought Id share her thoughts with you all.

She had a drug problem at one time (she's 55 and a grandma!) rather than a drink problem but what she had to say was relevent to drinkers too. She said that when you first give up drugs you feel that there is a gap in your life and it seems quite boring not taking them any more. But you then discover life itself which is definitely much better!

I hope this makes sense and Ive explained it properly! Have a good day everyone!
  • Hi Beachbeth, hope you had a great holiday? where did you go?

We've had 2 weeks at Camp de Mar in Majorca - quiet but lovely! Missed all the awful rain that the UK has been having!
