Hi All Another bright and cheery day for everyone I hope, for those feeling a bit jaded, this could be the day you make that decision.....

Bis-totally agree with the exercise bit, I just can't get motivated to take it seriously even though I don't have much of an excuse anymore to avoid it, I've got my life back, I don't shake for most of the day, I feel quite restless with nervous energy I'd like to chanel into something...I suppose I did sit around on my backside drinking for 20 yrs and although I've cracked the drink (thanks Ronnie Wood for reinforcing how easy it is to lose it again-note to self), my body can't get used to not sitting around as opposed to leaping in the air (or whatever exercisers do?) I might get a dog, or borrow someones and do some walking- can't be tempted to go into shops/pubs at all then, and will have a legitamate reason for tramping the streets, without everyone thinking I'm crazy and looking for a drink (thats my paranoia!).

Jo I was thinking about you yesterday, and those pains you said you had-please get that checked out, even if its just to reassure yourself-simple blood test and a quick tummy examination will do it. I didn't have any serious symptoms at all when I started getting liver trouble, just felt sick the whole time, then my skin went very itchy and my hands went red and excema like.

Hope everyone enjoys a great ride on the wagon today in the sunshine.
  • Morning guys and gals, I am feeling cheery today - well it is nearly half way through the working week:D :T

Managed a second AFD yesterday, actually didn't have a craving either which is amazing!

I haven't lost any weight since cutting down which has surprised me as my calorie intake must have dropped by at least 4000 cals a week from the lack of alchohol and I have been eating healthily too! I am wondering whether my body thinks it is being starved of sugar and is hanging onto anything it gets?

Hope everyone is keeping on the straight and narrow?

I am looking forward to my weekend in Anglesey, will be full of drink all weekend no doubt but I am going to be good till then to make up for it - AFD for me today even though it is 'have a drink cos it's Wednesday' day!!

I was just going to ask if those who have drastically cut down have noticed any weight-loss - I was expecting it to have quite dramatic effects ....... maybe that's just wishful thinking though!

    Hope everyone is doing ok!

    Hi Giddy

Sorry to report about the weight loss, but I didn't lose much as all of a sudden I went from not feeling hungry at all (lived on slimfast drinks most of the time) to feeling really starving and eating properly. I have noticed all the puffiness going though, which makes you look thinner in the face and tummy, as all the bloatiness gradually goes- plus if you give your kidneys a good rest they will start to tackle any fluid retension and that makes you feel lighter too. Developed a dreadful sweetooth which I'd never had before too. BUT as you feel much better, you get more active and toned and with your new (non-grey sallow) skin everyone will start to notice and the compliments spur you on- you will also look serene and confident and won't sweat so much with a bright red face. Check out some photos at your drinking 'worst' and you'll get the idea!!!!

All this doesn't mean you won't lose weight, but you might have to give yourself a bit of a kickstart!!! Its not so bad staying the same weight but looking 10 yrs younger and a million dollars with nice skin, shiny hair and healthy nails!!!!

Mrs Bis was expecting the weight to fall off but the thing is I re-discovered eating again.....some mornings I really couldn't face food and it takes ages to get things back in balance....we're all a work in progress....miracles happen in magazines!
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007

Sparkley- my sis did that diet and she lost loads and felt great, but she did have headaches for the first few days and her skin erupted a bit but then that went and she was so full of energy and looks so healthy- she lost over half a stone the first week then about 4-5 lbs a week after that- she still has 2 juice meals a day and then a normal meal with the family in the evening- its strict but it really works-good luck!!!!

Ooh- all good to know - thank you!

Day 4 - still got headache, but a bit more lively today. Went shopping and felt nothing in the wines aisle :T . Can't wait for day 8 ...

Hello all, thanks to eselte and bismark for helpful replies:T .

Eselte, I'm assuming the campral is something you get from the doc is it? Glad to hear you're finding it useful. I'm a bit worried by some stuff I've heard about relapse rates in the first year so maybe that's the way to go.

I can relate to what people are saying about sweet things. I've never had a sweet tooth and I find myself now craving choccie bikkies and ginger biscs!

I'm in that 'debating' phase now, shall I or shan't I tonight! I think I'll have a bath and then see what I think! But if I do i know i won't go over so that's definitely progress.

Anyway, all the best to you all.

  • Evening All :D

Glad to say since my one drink on Saturday I havent touched a drop :D

Theres a "but" though, in that after another two AF days I've got a booze filled weekend coming up

So, I will be temporarily jumping off the wagon for a little while, but make some room for me as I'll be hopping on again next week

In all seriousness I think this thread is helping in my quest to cut down, the place I'm trying to get to is to try and ration out those occasions where I go out and get trashed, instead of doing it week in week out.

    So far so good :D

Well done to everyone for their ongoing efforts!!

    Hope everyones ok :D
