Am new to this site but have been reading all the messages for the best part of the day and have just plucked up the courage to post after reading your post jo1972 about not wanting to drink with other people but on your own and how it messes up your routine - I do exactly the same and hate myself for it, I put off family and friends because nothing can mess up my "night" of drinking alone. I think I am scared that people will see my intake which I think has been noted by family recently. I'm scared don't know what to do, I have a lovely son who is seven who means the world to me, not sure if its loneliness that makes me drink, I am single and don't get much chance to go out but then when I do get the chance I go over the top and then worry if I have made a complete fool of myself the next day0

Only just opened it, been keeping myself busy again, ironing, making soup, changing bed linen but still wanted it so here I am glass in hand watching robochick and bionic boy
I have decided that I am going to finish the bottle and then not touch another drop till next Saturday  I feel kind of guilty drinking it but I have waited 3 hours and still want it so
don't know what that means but there you go!!
Jo don't beat yourself up, just promise yourself you will go next time ((hugs)))0 -
Hiya, I,m new to all of this so please bear with me.
I would really like to join this group as I know I need help and support with my alcohol consumption. I am still nursing a hangover from last night. I just want to get back to beeing able to drinking normally. I drink most nights ( no I'm lying) every night. Perhaps with every one else here I can start to help myself. Good Luck to you all.0 -
Bl**dy spammers would drive you to drink!0

Best wishes to both of you...I know where Jo is coming from....but still hold to the belief that we all have an equilibrium point that's best for us and attainable and sustainable in the long run...some are lucky and can just switch off when they reach the peak point...others can't..c'est la vie.....as more general point for the thread....I try to remain conscious (!) of the fact that some folks on here just want to cut down and that's great - I'm just no good at that!
Wow.Hasnt it got busy on here.It takes ages to catch up now.
I totally agree with Bismarck on this. Its all or nothing for me too ,worst luck:rolleyes:
At the beginning of this thread I gave up alcohol for a few weeks and then had a glass of wine one night.I thought I was so clever as I could control myself. Two days later, went on holiday and was back to square one.Too much to drink most nights,up in the night feeling ill and not remembering most of the evening/night the next day.Headaches and feeling sick all next day.
I came back and thought...No More!!
I havn't drunk alcohol for 13 WEEKS today, and each time I am tempted I try to remember how ill I felt on holiday. This soon puts me off.
I really wish I could be middle of the road but I cant.So heres to a lifetime of abstinence:beer:
Good luck to you all.Have a great evening.

Hi Mollypolly
How do you do it?? I am so envious of you!0 -
spam jam you hit the nail on the head, we are always suspicious of newbies but especially when their first post is the one on here! I just feel sorry for the sad geeks who have nothing better to do but troll around trying to get a rise out of people who are discussing their problems and trying to sort themselves out! I am the queen of sayings and here is one that springs to mind
What goes around comes around
oh and another
As you sow, so shall you reap
On that note I shall retire, see you all in the morning
PS spam jam sorry meant to say obviously you are genuine you just have a dodgy name lol0
