Hi.Jo.
Maybe you could add lemonade to your lager (maybe20/80) This would then make it go a bit further and not detract too much from the taste.or mix it with 0% lager. This way you are still weaning the alcohol out of your body slowly.
Dont be scared.Keep up the good work.

Going to go to Tesco today for some pineaplpe & coconut and lemonade to try Bismarcks recipe.

Its a pain isn't it? Becks LA is the best one I have found - tastes really nice - just like drinking the real thing!
Probably more alcohol in a spoonful of cough mixture! Having said that I think it was the start of my slide!
I have to own up to a bad couple of days. The outlaws brought 4 bottles of wine with them on Sunday. I must have drunk a bottle and a couple of glasses last night. I'm kicking myself after doing so well last month and up to 8 weeks or whatever it was.:mad: The craving was going - now I'm thinking about it again in the mornings and its only 10.40am. (Not that I have ever started that earlier but its on my mind).
We still have a bottle in the fridge and a half bottle my neighbour gave me yesterday. . I don't honestly think I can start afresh until its gone!
I am so stupid !
Mental Note....BHB - MUST TRY HARDER...... ACTUALLY MUST TRY !!!!!!!
I should be at the counsellers now - but I canceled it. I am going to make an appointment with my GP in a minute to see if there is another counseller that I can see instead, as I just didn't feel seeing that particular one was was right.
Jo - Cracking job - keep up the good workDon't worry about the cutting down to 2 cans yet. See how you feel on the day and what your counseller says.
Next question - How do you spell counseller, councellor ...counseler ??? I'm sure I must be on American time - I keep getting alsorts of spellings bouncing up here ??

Morning all, just thought I'd tag on to this thread
I had my first night off the booze last night for god knows how long. I have been drinking heavily for years but recently with money problems etc it has got worse. I regularly drink 20 units a night and 30 or more a night over the weekend
I must admit last night was pretty tough, as I was getting the shakes and sweats, had to go sleep in the spare room to save worrying the OH.
Does this get worse as the days go by or is the first night the hardest?
I am also worrying about the weekend, would you suggest to keep of the booze altogether, what I don't want is to slip back into my usual routine. I must admit the thought of not drinking (at this point in time) doesn't bother me and apart from the shakes last night I didn't actually consider a drink.
Let's see where we go from here

Molly, don't get yourself upset about this, you had no idea that you were drinking 0.4% alcohol and tbh you would have to drink quite a lot of them to give you any sort of effect. I would say if you enjoy it, then stick with it, or find a 0% one.
Just my opinion (once again) of course!
Bismarcks recipe does sound good, I might try that myself later
I've decided I need to keep myself busy (not got enough on my plate with a full time job and 3 kids )), thinking of putting myself forward to be a parent govenor at DS's school. There is tons of work involved, even though they say there isn't, but I'd need to be sober to attend meetings and read through all the reports and stuff. Counsellor said I need to make changes to my routine and things I do, so this could be good (provided I get the post)

I personally avoid the beer-a-likes as it's too close to the other stuff...more of a mental wall/ protection than physical allergy thing.
The slippery slope doesn't need much encouragement, I'm afraid....where do you draw the line? 0.4%? 1%? 2%? There have been instances of people being hooked on mouthwash because of its contents!
Forgive yourself and move on.For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070 -

Hi Simon,
Welcome:wave:
Well done for yesterday!
Is it possible for you to go see your GP today? I'm concerned about the shakes and sweats, I get shakes but not full DTs and don't get sweats. If you've been drinking heavily like that for years and suddenly stop, it can be very dangerous and you must be checked out first. Don't want to stop you at your first hurdle but it's important you get help with this.
We are all here for you should you need to rant, or need support. Good luck Simon, we are with you every step of the way :T

This is an excellent idea Andy, I hope they can get you someone else you feel you can bond with. Let us know how it goes, when are you seeing the GP?
