the key is not to feel deprived or punished..you are simply choosing not to drink.

This is the frame of mind I'm trying to get into and hopefully the pills will help with that :)

Nearly broke into the can of cider last night.
Stressful day - DS birthday, both feeling ill, Drs appointment for both & the A & L messing me about.

Didn`t, as told meself that alcohol wouldnt cure the problems & wouldn`t make them go away.

    So day 8/31
And bottle of wine/ can of cider day 3!

Hope fully I can solve the A & L thingy today, as I still feel too ill to go to work. Also Just spotted Virgin Media have doubled the bill for this month for some reason, so need to sort that too.

Brilliant...victory! You must be feeling great about that...well done. The can will still be there taunting you but you've got it sussed now!!!

morning all- and what a beautiful morning it is !!

TNG- - hi and well done for making it last so long - have you now officially joined us then ??

Jo- Hi- try to stay awake missy !! Its horrible when you haven't had enough sleep, I've been awake since about 5 but think thats because I fell asleep in the garden for 2 hours :eek:yesterday afternoon ;) and then walked around the golf course last night with OH- so we were tired and went to bed early. No champers last night, just 1 glass of wine to toast new house- thought that was very restrained !! Plus OH hates it so going to save it to have with someone that appreciates it !!
Thanks Molly - hoping the move isn't too stressful too- we already have a date of end of July - which seems far away but I know it isn't !! Hopefully it'll be plain sailing, I know only too well how these things can be a nightmare, but have sort of forgotten as its been 5 years !!
ltm07- my OH's a Derby fan- I've been dragged there twice this season- not pretty- either game !!! Sure next year'll be better... hopefully !!
Insearch of me- I'm the same with white wine- makes me go loopy !!
Bismarck, SamanthA, ageing biker, Sea- and anyone else I've forgotten- hi all- have a great day !!!:T:T:T:T:T

Morning...and what a great morning it is not to have a hangover!

    Breathe the free air folks!!

    Hi all

Not the best of starts, but it could have been worse.......

Got home, avoiding my usual triggers (the wonderful thing about triggers, is triggers are wonderful things?), only to find that I had a can left in the fridge from Sunday :(. As I was quite busy, I told myslef I wouldn't have it 'until later'. Did a passable impression of the fly with the blue derriere, then Mrs came home with the familiar plastic bag . Managed to keep myself on milk for a while (I can drink gallons of the stuff!), but finally, once I had sat down at around nine o' clock, decided to have the one I had promised myself . I DID make a conscious effort to nurse it and it took me an hour and a half to drink, then I went to bad.......

So just the one can for me, though there's now another three in the fridge . Supermarket tonight, so I can't have one til I get back from there anyway and I don't get beer from there either, as it's cheaper in the corner shop.

Doesn't quite deserve a 'well done', but it's something..... :o:o

Hope everyone else is well. Congrats on the house, bas. jo - hope the pills help

    :T :T :T

rollin' rollin' rollin', keep those wagons rollin', RAWHIIIIIDE!!!! :D

It's a start....thanks to you guys I sang rawhide yesterday evening and am working on alternative lyrics.....

"Those buy one, get one frees, they're coming after me" -instead of cherokees....hmmm..needs some work

Hi all, I have not been on here since Friday, have just been reading about all those horrible weekends & rows & would you believe, me too. Did someone say it was the moon? Had the mother of all rows on Sunday with OH. I had taken DD to a party 10-pin bowling in the morning so on a lovely day I spent over 2 hours in the dark with pounding music etcetc my idea of a nightmare & OH was crowing so I had a cob on before I left. Somehow I allowed myself to volunteer to go shopping for BBQ on my way home (why could he not do it whilst I was away? duh?) and I got a TEXT while in shop adding to the list not even for the bbq grrr. Anyway, I said I would be home by 2 & that's exactly when I got back only to find.....he's still in the pub. Now he always goes at 12 on the dot & is usually only an hour so 2 ******* hours he's been there while I've been having a carp time, & I lost it! I left half the shopping in the boot & the rest on the side in the kitchen & virtually ripped the cork out of the bottle with my teeth. He got back 15 mins later full of what a great time he's had and.....well the row wasn't triggered by alcohol but boy did it fan the flames! I didn't know I could rant like that. And, apparently, the only reason I got upset is MY HORMONES. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So my "controlled drinking" most certainly was NOT on Sunday v annoying cos Fri & Sat I was really good. Yesterday was not great, I'm still really wound up. So sort of hanging on in there but still all good intentions (the road to hell is paved with...) & little actual achievement. Unlike most of you.......good on y'all!!
I'm going to OH's tomorrow & am going to take all the wine I have in my house (I never have any other drink!) & leave it at his (or throw it at him) to stop me sulking & drinking every evening this week.

Hey everyone, I haven't had access to a pc until today, so haven't posted. However, still off the drink - lost count, think it's day 10? Feeling really good, I ran my 5K (well, ran/walked) on Sunday, and to celebrate had a cup of tea! However, my car broke down - think it's died, tbh, so have no money for booze until the end of the month anyway! So glad I haven't lost my space on the wagon, tho it's getting to be a bit of a squeeze, lol.

    Ooops!

When in a bad moment, do something else...I drank loads of coffee when I stopped on the drink....

You get to occupy the high ground or at least share it when you're sober and you remember stuff and can diffuse arguments before they fester.....

Since my D-day, rows are nothing like as bad as they were - you can see the temperatures rising better and take action before the explosion...

I am fortunate that Mrs B didn't used to drink much anyway but she stopped completely when I did...I didn't really ask her to, it just helped and because of the damage it could do, I think she wanted to help.

In some ways, our rows are better then before because they're more productive..stuff comes out rather than being buried...it's phrased better and less antagonistic....
