After last weeks effort, I fell off.
Came home last night via supermarket & brought beer. Why? Didnt particularly want it, it wasnst cold as off shelf, so I dont really know.
I think the habit overcame the brain.
Fell asleep in chair & woke at 4am ish, went to bed & have got up and on way to work.
Its a Saturday night thing, was a everynight thing, then became an odd night thing. Can & have, frequently, not drunk for 6 nights, but the Sat evenings a killer.
Was trying for 25 days out of 31, can still do it, but will have to work harder & not get complacent again.
Day 5/31 in MayLiving debt free, since Sept 08 & Dec 10 :wall:

Morning all & hugs to those who need them
Hello jacks! Missing you me lovely! Hang in there! For those who have caved rememberthat you may fall off but that doesent stop you getting back on! Learn from the slip & start again...and again until you crack it! Samatha congratulations in realising a trigger. Weekends are a biggie we "deserve" a drink dont we eh - even though it makes us more skint than we already are, behave in a way we shouldnt & dont like, adversely affects relationships, health, self esteem, mental health & general enjoyment of life & thats without the hangovers & fact that we are literally killing brain cells that are much needed!!...kind of mad when you look at it rationally & yet we fall again & again!
For those with w**** oh's my advice would be to dea with your own issues & let them deal with theirs - for both Jo & Sea its blatantly obvious that both your OHs are "transferring" their own feelings of failure etc onto you as both have their own demons to deal with. You dealing with yours makes them very uncomfortable and makes them feel even more a failure so the best way to deal with that seems to be to hurt you & make them feel as s**** as they are feeling. Make sence? You have two choices. Buy into the game or say no (while muttering f**off in your head but NOT out loud - doesent go down well!). Well done for resisting sea!
Well me & my crappy 2 day migraine are going to the allotment. I may have to break my no spend week (day 6 can you bloody believe it eh!!) & buy some coke...pain is crashing. Have no idea why i have it...could be caffeine drop from no red bull, not smoking, heat, weather, cheese...who knows but I do know its not the wine!
Have a good day & thanks BHB & NT for such honest posts! Precious they both were & so hard to say! Special thank you hugs for you both!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
jeez you guys are quite inspirational when you get going.....:o
'kay - time to hitch the breeches, bite the bullet, get on the good foot, grab the bull by the horns and climb aboard the good wagon ISOM
Immediate target will be to not drink in the week, I think. See how we go...... was thinking that the self blame and lack of self esteem were just my personality traits, but now, I dunno. Maybe there's a good person trying to get out (though I kept him in there with beer)
ok - new regime starts tomorrow. Don't get to post in the evenings, which is when I will need you guys most, but nothing ventured.........
Happy days (we hope!):dance:There's a real buzz about the neighbourhood :dance:0 -
Morning all
Sea, how you feeling today? I hope everything was okay after OH came in.
Susieh, long time no...erm 'read'how have you been doing since you first posted on this thread, keep popping in and letting us know how you are
Jacks, what on earth possesses anyone to get up at such an unearthly hour  I hope you have a hat and sun cream on and are making loads of money at the boot hunny
BHB, got any BBQs today! Have a good one
YM, I hope your team wins (providing they're not playing Spurs of course) Enjoy your ice cold water
Samantha, I reckon it was a weekend for it you know. It's definately harder when it's sunny out I've decided. There's something for me about driving to Tesco, I have to drive past a pub that has a huge outside area at the front with nice benches, pretty lights in the evening, loads of lovely plants and shrubs. God it looks so inviting! Plus it's right by the traffic lights and s0ds law means I'm always sat at a red light watching all these people sat out there enjoying themselves in the sunshine with a cold beer  Do I sound resentful
ISOM, I hope you feel better later hunny when you get some caffine (sp?) down you! Remember your hat and sun cream if you're spending all day outside
TNG, good luck for tomorrow, I shall be thinking of you. Have you got alcohol in the house? If you haven't and make sure you don't buy any on the way home it's a hell of a lot easier.
Leigh, let us know how you're doing
Winebox, where are ya girl? What Elantan said is true, look how many times I've failed and had to post back on hereYou are normal, we are all going through different stages of this and know what it's like so don't worry about posting, we would all love to hear how you are doing and what you are thinking
Everyone else
Well, it's been a funny couple of days. I didn't buy any beer yesterday but I did have that one that I had left from the day before. Thing is, it wasn't cos I was craving for it so much, it was actually a farewell drink (this is gonna be a hilarious post if someone's catching up with a few days and reads straight after that I've caved a few pages down the line :rotfl:). Anyhoo, my worse time is the build up, planning the evening, driving home, getting home with beer and counting the minutes till I can say that I'm past the time of day that would be 'too early' to have a drink iykwim. Then the first 2 drinks are great, I feel my cravings disappear and I feel good. Then I continue and it's not as good anymore.
What I noticed yesterday was, I had all the normal preparation and feelings when driving past the offy but carried on going. Had a few pangs in the lead up to the 'golden hour' but once I'd past that and knew I wasn't drinking I was ok'ish. I contemplated the one can I had in the kitchen and wasn't really actually bothered about drinking it. But I knew if I opened it to chuck it I'd drink it (warm or not ), plus if I left it till today, the worrying about this one can would drag on. So what I decided to do is run a warm bath (which was needed after spending an hour the kitchen with 4 hobs, the grill and oven on - it was like a sauna, I reckon I lost half a stone :rotfl:), put the can in the freezer, locked myself in the bathroom and laid in the bath drinking the beer and thinking of my journey of how I got myself into this situation. Starting at my very first drink at 14 right up to present day. I now realise how I used to drink to socialise but there is no social aspect left in my drinking habit. I actually hate drinking round other people and would rather do it by myself cos others don't keep up with me and I'd feel judged. So this one beer turned into a bit of a farewell party for alcohol. Let's hope it works this time!
So day one is today as I had my rememberance evening yesterday, but I didn't buy any so saved £4.00 but I'm not going to add that in to my total cos I'll get confused!
I hope you all have a good day and sorry for posting such a long postIt's actually taken me nearly 2 hours to type this as DS is still being sick, everytime I preview my message I've found that someone else has posted! I thought DS had heat stroke but his temp is now back to normal. He didn't eat anything that could have caused it though. Maybe it's heat exhaustion which isn't so bad. Right better go cuddle my little soldier.
Be careful in the sun
xx
EDIT to say Thank fudge that message didn't get lost in cyberland when I submitted it cos it took half the day to type and I didn't do it in word first!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -

Ironically, that's the same as me, I've (or rather OH has) got 2 bottles of Baileys and a couple of bottles of JD in the fridge but I don't think of touching it, although I don't mind drinking either. I only like the beer  I should of been a bloke me reckons....
Good luck hun :kisses:DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
