    Wow Well done ISOM.
    A No Spend/Drink/Smoke week.
    Now that is an achievement.
Wish I could do a no spend week, can hardly seem to do one day:confused:
Think I will have to nip over to OS and have a read later.

As for non-alcoholic drink,I think I will give it a miss. After reading Allen Carrs book I realised I didnt like the taste of booze anyway.:) So will stick with squash or water.
Glad everyones climbing back on the wagon. The more the merrier.

Friday Night & I am p1ssed off, another story, another thread.

What can we do to keep ourselves occupied, out of the offy & not spending?

    Suggestions??

Me, I am going to switch radio on & try to find my dining table under the mound of carp that has accumulated and then sit down & watch a DVD, before falling into bed.

    5/31 May and a Friday to boot!:T

Hi all again. Well had a couple of days off the beer & feel alot better for it, although didn't get a wink of sleep last night:( . Think this was more to do with sleeping most of Monday rather than not having a beer. Having a can now & will probably have one more but it's gonna be an early night tonight,I'm shattered! Hope everyone else is ok!
Hi all again, well the 2 cans turned into 5 on Wednesday & I ended up having 6 last night:o ! OH was off work the last 2 nights so I always tend to have more when she's off as she likes a drink during the week when she's off as she works most weekends ! Before she started this job we did have a bash at not drinking during the week, but now I'm drinking at weekends & during the week too! Saying that she doesn't pour it down my neck & to be fair we never usually drink that many, i guess the hot weather makes the ice cold beer all the more tempting! On my 2nd can tonight & will have one more whilst watching Benidorm then it's off to bed for me as at work at 4 in the morning. Invited my Mum round for a BBQ tomorrow,so will have a few beers then, but I never want to get into the state I was in last Sunday again so will pace myself! Well done to all of you for not drinking & cutting down, it does take alot of will power to do so. All the best!!

  • Yahooooooooooooo !! :j:j:j I'm first up.
It's a bit dull here and it's rained plenty in the night.................but methinks the sun gonna shine later.

BHB Loved the song !!..............I think !! Hope you got on ok at the doctors. I had depression last year (after a series of unfortunate events) and went on antidepressants. it took about a month for them to kick in and was advised to stay on them for at least 6 months. I read a great article on depression which really put things into perspective..................in essence it explained that depression is the curse of the strong and it is a physical illness because the limbic system just fuses!...............and I felt an awful lot better after reading it. ps I remember when you counted your alcohol free time in hours......................care to tot it up now ?? Or is it too many numbers??!!:D:eek:
MP Hope your daughter finally go to her destination. Well done for getting to 30 days......................and beyond :T
Elanatan and Dumpy Good advice about how to avoid being pestered to drink when out.....................that soon shuts them up I bet. and so what if you're talked about. As Oscar Wilde once said 'There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.'
Basilcat Sounds like things are falling into place for you in many areas of your life ................enjoy the ride. I'm sure those pesky 9lbs will soon lose their grip. :p
Jlynn good luck with the 5k........is it race for life?.................what's your expected time?:j
Winebox and Jo and Itmo7 Let's go, go, goooooooooooooooo ;):D Get those wheels a rolling....................RAWWWWHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDE ! Yeeeha !!
ISOM So glad you're chuffed.................I hope you won't be able to stop grinning all day today :D:D
SamanthaA Your doing sooooooooooooooo well on the distraction front. Hope you enjoyed your friday evening:D

I don't even know where to start today and I don't really want to pour everything out on here cos I don't want to go through it all again in my head and don't want to depress you all on this hot, potentially very sunny, day.

Had a mother of all rows with OH last night. To cut a very long story short, OH went out for a drink with his work buddies after work and got in at 9pm, he'd had a few to drink but it's difficult to tell how many cos there's been times when he's seemed fine but he doesn't remember anything the next day (which I think this might be the case today I'm not sure yet). Anyhoo, he was !!!!!! off that when he came in I popped out to see a neighbour quick and was actually there for half hour (she doesn't stop talking) and he had a letter about his work contract which he was nervous about opening and was !!!!!! off that I didn't care to stick around to see what it said. Now in my defence, when I went to my neighbours I thought I would be out of the house for 10 minutes and the reason I decided to go at that time was because he was on phone anyway! So, he thinks I don't I care and then the conversation got round to my drinking and he was very spiteful and very loud (in earshot of DD1). He said that basically the reason he was down all the time is because of my drinking and that he didn't care anymore. He did stupid voice impressions of me saying 'please support me', 'how am I gonna get through this' and said that that's what he had to deal with last time and here we are again. I was really proud that I didn't get upset, I did remind him that it would probably be unlikely that he'd be able to get through the day without a 'funny' fag and that he's never had the courage to try. But he said it wasn't about him. He said when he 'helped me through' the last time I quit drinking he said that he would never go through that again so he said I should drink myself to death if I felt like it.

I can appreciate he's worried/angry/scared, but it would be nice if he used a bit of tact :(

He's not out of bed yet and probably won't be for a couple of hours so we'll see if he remembers what he said. There is obviously no way I can drink today cos it'll all go off again. So looks like I should definately have a day 1 under my belt.

Glad to hear everyone's doing so well, I'm very proud of you all :)

    xx

    Hi Jo

Sorry to hear you had a bit of a Bum night.

Its not nice when people take the mickey out of you and ,speaking from my own experiance it makes you feel awfull. I know when it has been done to me it hurts. I know I have a problem with my drink and am doing something about it. There is NO need what so ever to further expand on these details by putting on Silly voices or within earshot of children.

I dont want to stick my nose in but it sounds as if it was the drink talking and ,to be honest, I would not kick off like that if it were my Oh popping out to see a neighbour.

As for the funny fags it sounds as if he is closing his mind to the problem he has with his own drug addiction.

Hope I have not spoken out of turn and I hope everything goes OK today and he comes down felling all ashamed and crestfallen and slighty hungover ;)

    Take care
