Morning all- Mollypolly- wow 32 days thats fantastic. You are doing so well, forget the cleaning and enjoy the sunshine !! :T :T :T :T

It's my last day at work today before having 3 well deserved weeks off before I start my new job. Quite sad though as have been here over 2 years and met some lovely people. Still, on to the next chapter in my life- feel really positive.

Am stilll drinking a bit, not every night though, and now I know when to stop. It's no longer a habit to reach for the wine bottle every night and worrying that I have enough in the fridge to get me through. Am still going to keep an eye on it though and feel like I need the positivity and friendliness of this thread.

Going to go to the gym every day while I'm off and try to lose the last 9 pounds or so that is still hanging about.

    Have a great day all. BHB :T :T :T :T

Well done to all who are doing their best to moderate alcohol intake. Personally, I think OH is soo overrated!

I found when I gave up drinking, was that the peer pressure is immense when you go out with people.

"Just have one", "one glass of wine won't hurt", "go on, I'll get you one", "are you sure you want a soft drink?"

It takes a lot, to resist that sort of pressure.

I even had someone say, "I'm not asking for a soft drink at a bar". My response to that one was, fine I'll buy my own.

I think it makes people uncomfortable that you have changed your behaviour and they can't get their heads round it. So it's easier for them to try and get you back to the way you were.

So good luck to you all, I'm not teetotal, I do have the odd glass of wine/drink but I must say I feel fantastic for not drinking.

Back to day 1 for me - had a glass of wine last night when a friend came over for dinner - but only one glass as she brought a half bottle of some new M&S low alcohol wine. It was OK, but to be honest I wasn't that bothered, which makes a change - normally I'd be finishing it off! Out tonight with a friend but taking the car, so have an excuse not to drink....can't really anyway, am doing 5k this weekend so can't be hungover for that.

A friend of mine went down that road years ago & he said it made life so much easier, people just DON'T try & talk you into "just one" once you have made that announcement. He didn't get queer looks, but people often seemed embarrassed / uncomfortable, but that was their problem not his! Good luck!

Just catching up..not been on as trying to sort GB and only so many hours in the day!! Still doing ok with not drinking & have done a no spend, no drink & no smoke week so chuffed & been kept busy trying to research/cook healthy food, recipes & itemise contents of cupboards etc! Feeling quite motivated which is good!
Well done to those staying off - esp molly & bhb! Fab both! Bet you feel 100% better for it?
Hng in there jo, winebox etc ...day at a time me thinks! Quite enough to cope with!!
Friend bought some alch free lager this week when she came & it tasted just like the real thing but I think pshchologically thats not necc a good thing is it as think it would lull you into a sence of false security & think you have the hard stuff with no probs. What do others think?
