Congratulations again mollypolly! What resolve you must have with your DH drinking in the same room/house. I'm really chuffed for you, but wouldn't be a bit surprised about the hangover being withdrawal symptons, most likely the body readjusting itself.
Not bad going for you either Wol, Fri & Sat must be more difficult evenings in a way, so you're also achieving. Good thinking with the antibiotics.
Good luck everyone on a brand new week!

Hi Tapirette and welcome to the thread.
How about Wol's 'fibbing about taking antibiotics' as a starter for a moderation plan, at least it'll get you over a couple of weeks and you can have another tipple such as Wol's sister's alternative <<"My sis started this last week and went through the whole week on Becks non alcoholic beer which she said was a good substitute">> There were another couple on the previous couple of pages, have a look through and see what tips you can get.
To be honest, I don't drink as I'm on medication that won't allow it (if I wish to remain upright after just 1/2 a shandy!) but I watched my mum drink and it was pretty excessive at times. She often used to get her and me into some embarrassing situations so I don't think I'd ever touch it if I could, trouble is, like you, she wasn't aware of those situations either!
Your friends say that you're much more fun now, but is that to suit them and help them feel they're more 'normal' in wanting to drink?! I may be wrong but it seems as though you'd be fine by yourself and don't have a drinking problem until you go with your friends. Try Wol's antibiotic trick and see how you go.
Good luck and stick to what you want, not your friends, you'll be the one that ends up problem-free later on!
Best wishes and hugs, Sue.Sealed Pot Challenge 001 My Totals = 08 = £163.95 09 = £315.78 10 = £518.80 11 = £481.87 12 = £694.53 13 = £1200.20! 14 = £881 15 = £839.21 16 = £870.48 17 = £871.52 18 = £800.00 19 = £851.022021=£820.26[/SizeGrand Totals of all members (2008 uncounted) 2009 = £32.154.32! 2010 = £37.581.47! 2011 = £42.474.34! 2012 = £49.759.46! 2013 = £50.642.78! 2014 = £61.367.88!! 2015 = £52.852.06! 2016 = £52, 002.40!! 2017 = £50,456.23!! 2018 = £47, 815.88! 2019 = £38.538.37!!!! :j0 -

My sis started this last week and went through the whole week on Becks non alcoholic beer which she said was a good substitute).
Stella have just brought out a non-alcoholic bottled beer too which is drinkable, don't touch Kaliber with a bargepole though if it's in a can, the bottle is 'slightly' better. All in all, don't drink any non-alcoholic beer unless it is cold and I mean cold!!DFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Good Morning.Hope everyone is feeling ok.on this stormy Monday morning.
I was just flicking through my 'bible'......'No More Hangovers.' and saw this quote so will share it with you
"Alcohol doesn't make a difficult world bearable, but it can turn an intensely beautiful world into a living hell"
Have a good day.

Proud to be dealing with my debts at last :j0 -
Good morning all, well, my weekend went like this:
Friday Eve: Four cans of strongbow and one glass of wine
Saturday: Daytime - none, Eve - One bottle white wine
Sunday: Day -One pint of cider with pub lunch, Eve - One bottle magners cider and 3/4 bottle white wine
Don't feel that is too bad for me really,I am going to try really hard and not have any at all during the week this week so wish me luck! I am going on holiday for a week to Lanzarote on Easter Sunday so I am trying to diet - obviously if I can keep off the booze it will be easier to drop a few pounds!

Thanks people for your encouragement, yesterday was a pretty bad day but got through it. The further I go the more determined I am that I am not going to let booze rule my life any more. Its time to face what caused it in the first place and I think that may be harder than giving it up. I'm going to take one step at a time and hope the journey ends in success. Good luck to everyone and I hope you all acheive your goals whatever they may be.0

Things have not gone too well on the drink front for me this week, problem for me is when it's in, I've gotta drink it. So this morning I tipped a couple of cans down the sink so it won't be there tonight. I need to get a grip and stop being controlled by alcohol, it's not doing me (or my family) any favours. My doctor wanted me to have a blood test to check my liver function but I've had the blood test form in my car for nearly a month but I'm too scared to go
I need to put something in place today so that I don't give in this evening.
Well done to everyone doing so wellDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Day one for me
Trying to get through till Friday without a drink (sounds awful when I type it). Unfortunately I took the kids to France last w/e and returned with a bootful of booze (thanks a bunch, Martin!)
Ah well - we'll see how it goes.
Well done to everyone else.......Neigh, neigh, and thrice neigh

Dear Jo 1972, please go and have your test. Don't sit on your fears and let them grow out of proportion. Know whats in front of you and deal with it instead of it festering away inside you like I have. When you get your results, it may be that things are not as bad as your imagine and can be dealt with easily rather than putting it off and maybe your health getting worse. I am sure you would give someone else the same advice so DO IT.0
