They are legally not allowed to put you on hold with an 09 number.
I'd suggest taking this up with PhonePayPlus (ICTIS, or whatever they've decided to be called today :rotfl:)

Sorry Gollum, I should have pointed out that I was using the freephone number when I was in hold. Was just trying to make people aware that there is an alternative no. to the premium rate one that they put on their letters.

Has anybody interested in this thread done a google for "E4B". We are currently listed at the top of page 2 in a google search. Not very good publicity for E4B !!!!!0

Just found out, Once a new supplier has applied three times to take over supply from E4B they cannot apply again and have to cancel the application.
This must be loosing Scottish power & other companies a lot of business.
I also recieved a letter of rejection of offer from E4B THIEVES as I had written to offer a resolvement to the problem. Thier answer :-
I have looked into thisand we are unable to accept your offer, the rates that we have offered you are the rates that we can bill you on which are 0.32414 S/c and 0.0912 per Kwh, the rates you offered to us are not acceptable to us.
( I had offered the rate Scottish Power signed me up for for two years).
They also tell me they will not release the supply until 02/01/10 and if anyone request the supply they will object. (object means STOP) as no-one seems to be able to force them to release supply.
But the nice feeling is :- they tell me I am now over £4,000.00 in arear's.. ha ha its nice to play with thier money for a change. If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.0 -
Anyone who is supplied by E4B must keep all the paperwork and give termination notice in plenty of time. The most important thing is to be 'In Credit' on the last day of the contract, Read your meter or get someone to work it out for you a month before contract end date.
If you give your start reading and date to a broker they normally will work it out for you. Then make an EXTRA payment with more than the bill is and to be "cleared funds" in E4B's account before the last day of the contract.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS it is like writing them a blank cheque for the next two years. If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.0 -
The OFT (Office of Fair Trading) have a tel number for complaints 08457 22 44 99
what E4B are doing amounts to breaking the Anti Competition Act 1998
(if they stop people from being supplied by a cheaper competitor by unfair terms and dubious practices it amOunts to breaking the Anti Competition Act).
And more than likely would be breaking the Unfair Terms and Conditions Act 1977.
The more complaints they get, the quicker these thieves will be brought to task.If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.0 -
Hi, i'm going to phone them tomorrow, i'm still seithing about what they've done and i wont rest till its dealt with fairly. Now what iv'e been told is that because my initial contract was done over the phone and i wasn't made aware of the 2 year contract at there new rates in person then i have a case because if it was pointed out to me i would have never have taken it on so i'm phoneing my solicitor tomorrow and take it from there. I to also said about them proveing they had sent me this letter as it should be sent by recordered delivery thow letter or not it says it in the small print so basically your signing up for a low first year and a heavy 2 years, 3 years in total..! i may not be trading next year.....! who in there right mind would sign up for a 3 year contract unless it was at the initial "suck me in" first rate..! This all sounds very much like insurance and pension scams that happened years ago
and its still going on in practice with E4-RIPP-OFF-B...!
will keep you posted.
Regards

The change of supply process works for all suppliers in a strict way. This happens on residentials as well. Your Supplier requesting the change of supply can simply request a change of supply on a new date which is a fresh application.
They were probably trying to stick to the same change if supply date.
Of course, this can cause some big headaches for you guys since that dates very important in terms for stopping you resigning on a Deemed contract.
It might be worth fiding out why they objected to you leaving. If they are as dodgy as you suspect, they may have used illegal methods to object (there are defined objection reasons by Ofgem and objecting for any other reason is not allowed and a licence breach)
Plenty of residentials have been stopped for non compliant reasons on the past and won their cases with Energywatch on that basis.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

In my case E4B objected because the date my new supplier, Scottish Power, arranged for the transfer of supply to take place fell 1 day beyond the 7 day window E4B allow. E4B did not want to know when I asked if they would let the transfer take place on that date. Their attitude was basically you missed your chance, so tough !!! That extra day has cost me £52/month extra for a further 2 years. That equates to an additional £1248 I will have to find.0 -

Hello Terry, Lordie,
Actually had a written reply back from Energywatch today. :- see below
With regards to renewal contracts and prices there are a number of factors to consider.
· There are no industry standards for how suppliers handle contract renewals. There is also no regulation of supplier practices or behaviour in handling contract renewals. Each supplier deals with this issue slightly differently in their contract terms and conditions. Business consumers should make sure they read the terms and conditions of the contract and are prepared to take the necessary action to protect their position.- electricity4business’ standard terms and conditions require the new supplier to take over the supply within seven days from the end of contract date and if this does not happen any termination notice is cancelled and the contract is automatically extended.
- It is implied that when a business consumer enters into a contract it is on the basis that they have read the terms and conditions and have agreed to them. It will do very little good after you have agreed a contract to say that you did not read the terms and conditions or that they seem unreasonable.
· The only option for the consumer once the contract has been extended is to approach electricity4business for a quote for a termination fee.
energywatch does not provide either legal advice or a mediation service. energywatch will not pursue cases where a business consumer is trying to get out of a contractual commitment that has been freely entered into.
Why they just don't say, Don't want to get involved, can't help, we have no teeth, Tough, I do not know.
I do know it is ANTI COMPETATIVE & UNFAIR CONDITIONS.
I will have to see what the judge adjudicates. If you weigh more than the space you take, You will sink !.0
