Ring 020 7201 1000 (London call centre) and ask for the Hi Save account Dept. It can take a few attempts to get through but better than talking to the Mumbai team!
  • Well we knew it was on the cards, and it is still the best deal around for instant access at any level balance, isn't it?

Nope - try 5.25% at Cahoot (new account wef 30 September - see separate thread).

Nope ICICI is the best rate for any balance as the original poster says. Cahoot only pays that rate when you have a balance of 15K plus.
  • I stand corrected - sorry.

Perhaps also worth adding a positive customer service comment about ICICI !! At least they told us 30 days in advance, not 30 days in arrear, about the drop in rate.

They also promise to remain at least 0.25% above the UK base rate until the end of 2007. The UK boss has just been on radio four, and without wanting to sound like the world's biggest sucker, he sounds a reasonable guy. He says the problem was sheer volume of applicants; just far more than they'd predicted.

Sadly, the UK economy looks like it won't be giving us savers any increases in base rate for a while. Furthermore, there's not going to be a decent house price crash any time soon. I don't know why I bother, I really don't.
  • hey! guys
I just thought I would share my experience with ICICI. I have been tracking this blog for quite sometime now.

When I had applied in June I faced a lot of problems and i gave up because it was very frustrating to get anything done from these guys. Could not open the account at that time. While tracking this blog I observed some positive comments and I decided to apply again with these guys (being an opportunist). I must say to my great surprise I got a good response this time. I applied on 15th September and got a tracking id by mail the same day. On the 16th got a mail asking for a cheque. Sent the cheque the same day. On the 21st got a mail with the login ID. Then there was no activity till 27th. I called them up asking for the password and got a reply that password will be received within 10 working days from the day of getting login ID. I thought there it goes again without any improvement

to my surprise got the password yesterday(within 10 working days) in a green envelope. Was able to login and see my account details. It seems they have approved though I am still skeptical going by my past experience.

I have a problem with ICICI that I haven't seen reported by anyone else.
Opened an account in my wife's name (non-taxpayer). Password eventually arrives and I log in only to discover that there is NO linked account! I e-mailed them - no reply. I know I could 'phone but I won't bother as a) my wife would have to talk to them, and b) even if they managed to put the details of the linked account on their website I wouldn't trust these clowns with a penny more. I'll just put the £1 lost down to experience.

    ICICI bank says backlog clear

"In terms of where we are today... We have nothing pending on our processes... So today if you were to make an application on our website you would get a response back in two days that your account is opened."

But he stopped short of making that a promise, saying: "I wouldn't call it a promise, it's a service we hope we are delivering at this juncture.
    Hmmm.
    Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries

Have an open account with them with a balance of £1. This took about three weeks to get sorted and involved some chasing at every juncture. Now trying to transfer some money to it, but their transfer process won;t let me enter a transfer date..... Raised the problem with ICICI and no resolution yet, but early days...

I had this problem and traced it back to a pop-up blocker. The transfer page tries to open a pop-up calendar that you need to select the transfer date from (AFAIR - it's been a while since I've used it!).
