anticlaus - see post 97 -response from website "need to register" was sorted when I typed acc no in rather than copying it from my email. May work for you.

Was worth a shot. Didn't work unfortunately. Cheers anyway!
  • Appalled by totally inept handling of two of only three money tranfers I have ever asked ICICI to perform I decided enough was enough and instructed them to return ALL my money to NatWest current account and close the ICICI
    account.

I have now asked them to do so SEVEN times without success since 10th August.

During that period they increased the balance shown on my ICICI statement by a "phantom" £6000 which was certainly not MY money. When I pointed this out they tried to transfer £6000 in from my NatWest account, without authorisation.

That, of course, caused me hours of hassle sorting the situation out with NatWest because like most people (I'd imagine) I don't keep £6000 floating around in my currrent account so this attempted transfer set thier alarms bells ringing.

I have now stopped asking ICICI daily to close my account and simply write daily requesting at least the courtesy of SOME kind of reply!

There are 104 comments so far, about 100 say they are rubbish. How can you continue to promote this bank?

    Money transfer update:

Further to my earlier posts, the money I asked to be transferred OUT on Monday hit the target today, meaning it happened on the 4th working day rather than the 3rd. The money IN requested on the same day has yet to happen.

Thus far, I've had no problems as such, simply a delay in setting up the account and a delay in the transfers (on the orders of a day or so). I've experienced no incorrect amounts being transferred.

I am watching for the interest to be paid on the due date (end of the month, I recall). If that comes in correctly I will be happy to transfer more money in and let it sit.

    FYI,

Got my bank statement today and it seems every dd transfer into ICICI was marked as the final payment... hence a new dd had to be set up each time... hence each transfer took 8 days. I think someone else mentioned that their bank had warned them this had happened with one of their transactions. Looks like it's standard practice.

Let me answer the 'why am i still promoting ICICI' question

Actually first its important to note ICICI is head and shoulders ahead of any other bank in terms of rate. That's the priority here and therefore it is important we take that into consideration.

Now in the article on ICICI there's a full section noting the issues with their customer service and linking to this thread. While many people are having appalling service, that is balance first by the fact that the rate is very much higher, and second that the latest reports im getting is the customer service is improving and ICIC is putting more resources into it.

My aim is to let people know this is the highest rate bank with customer service issues and allow people to choose, and i hope that's what im doing

You must 'phone the London number, it's somewhere in this thread. Ask to be put through to the Hisave department and DON'T take no for an answer. From my own experience they are polite and helpful and unlike the 0808 number seem to know what they are doing? Also write a letter of complaint, explaining in full the problems you are having, directly to their CEO. His name and address are also in this thread. Don't expect a direct reply though!
Sorry I'm too idle to search for the information. :p

Herein lies the problem Martin. If we can't get the money into the account because they take so long to process emails etc, then we're not actually earning that interest rate. I currently have £10,000 in my current account (at 3.odd %) waiting to be transferred to ICICI and one week later, it's still there.

Why is it in my current account some may ask? Because ICICI only allow you to have one linked account. (I've asked - despite it saying 'linked accounts' everywhere on the site you can only have one account linked.)

But can't you do a bank transfer for any other account direct to your ICICI account ?
