  • Two people have already pointed out that the date's wrong. What's worse is, they're franking envelopes with 28p postage, when the cost for first class franked items is 29p. This means everything's technically being sent out second class.

And in the interests of security the envelope is marked on the reverse side 'personalised pinmailer envelope'

Is anyone else unable to log in today?

Mozilla's just giving me the spinning arrows after clicking submit on the login form. Something's wrong their end. Seems that just like their email (see my post above), their website is now taking forever to reply...

:wall: Good luck getting a timely answer - it took them 15 days to reply to my email asking about how and when the password for the account would be delivered.

Hi Paul - that one only took 7 days for me and I did get through quickly by phone when I got tired of waiting.
Anyway I am now able to access my account - which is nice.

  • July 19 Completed online application
July 20 Received e-mail confirming receipt of application & giving tracking number
July 21 Received e-mail confirming acceptance of application and giving further instructions for opening account with minimum £1 cheque from nominated account

August 1 Posted cheque for £100 to open account as per clear instructions
August 6 Received e-mail confirming deposit of cheque & giving account login details
August 12 Received computer-printed password by post

Frankly, I don't see how it gets any better than that. I initiated an online account with Bradford & Bingley at the same time and the sequence of events was about the same - just more paperwork with B&B. To the poster who complains about only getting a slip containing his password - what does he expect? A hand-written greetings card? It's exactly the same as I get for pin numbers for my credit cards.

I was also impressed that it's mandatory to change this password when you log in for the first time.

I'm moving £60,000 from ING whose rates have just dropped. I'm happy to put £35,000 of it into the 5.4% HiSAVE account - the FSCS-protected maximum. The rest will go into B&B and get 5.1%.

Absolutely no complaints from me so far - and they're streets ahead of my experiences with Royal Bank of Scotland. Maybe I was lucky with my timing and ICICI had sorted out their systems after the first understandable rush. You can be sure that with this popularity they'll want to get it right and keep it right - it worked for ING.
