• Well, I applied the same day Martin flagged it, got my details 4 days later, sent my cheque and got my user name 2 days later by email, password the following weekend. I transferred 1 penny in to check my banking details, which took 3 days. Transferred it back, which took anopther 3 days, and now use it as a sweep account paying more than my Nationwide Online Saver. No real problems... and I'm a happy customer.
• I applied for an ICICI HISAVE account on the 26th July and after several phone calls and emails was told what to do next. You should ignore the confirmation email off ICICI as it reads as follows:

Dear Mr. XXXXX,

Thank you for your application.

Your unique application tracking number is 00000000. Please note that you need to quote this tracking number in all your future correspondence with us regarding your HiSAVE Account.

We will take two working days to process it and verify your details as per FSA regulations. Upon a positive verification, we will send you a mail confirming the acceptance of your application and the next steps.

If you may have any queries, please mail us at ukdirect@icicibank.com, quoting your application tracking number 00000000. Our Customer Support Team will be glad to assist you.

Warm Regards,

HiSAVE Team,
ICICI Bank UK Ltd."

AS soon as you get your unique application tracking number write a cheque in payable to yourself with that number next to your name and they will activate your account and send you the relevent info. Don't bother to wait for a reply mail as I am still waiting. It says 2 working days I think it must read weeks.

Hope this is of any help

What ever you do don't let them transfer you as you will be transfered to the call centre in India who can't do anything.

• There is a UK? number to contact them - 08081 314151 - probably routed to the subcontinent.
You'll not get any e-mailed response from them!

I got the first 2 emails on 5th july and 9th july respectively.
Sent a cheque off for £7000 which was presented on 21st july.
I chased it only because I realised I sent too much and would need some money back in my current account by mid august.

After my first email didn't get a reply within 24 hours I decided to phone (To the people who persist with repeated emails - do yourself a favour and pick up the phone).
I phoned in the evening and got a return call the following morning (today) as promised.
Within minutes I had an email confirming my account number and login ID.
I'm now waiting on my password which they said would take up to 7 days.

When I stressed that I urgently needed some money transferred back to my current account I was told that if my password didn't arrive within a couple of days I could do the transfer by phone!!!

It looks like if you've been given your account number you're good to go.

The symptoms are of a company struggling to meet demand, something which you can reasonably expect to improve. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt so far.
• AndyM - thanks for that London number, very useful.

Spoke to someone this morning (before seeing the 0207 number), using 08081 number and was assured that he would look into my problem with account closure without delay - yeah right!
However I'll give him a chance before 'phoning London, maybe Monday.
Also writing to S Chucklebutty MD & CEO in UK with a v. large complaint.
• On approval etc I sent my small tester cheque about 3.5 weeks ago. After 3 weeks of it not being encashed and no other response I sent them an email requesting to know what was going on. No reply yet. Just seen this thread and it appears this is not just an overload of their human staff but could continue when or if I'm computerised. I heard an interview (money program I think) of their MD where he said categorically that he would definitely not allow this to happen. I don't like to get involved with a company where the MD can happily say what he thinks people will like to hear and then not deliver. Apart from continuing to monitor this thread I certainly won't be wasting any more time on them and will cancel my tester cheque if my banks fee for a cancelled cheque is not too high. Thanks to all.

Hi everyone,

In order to help out those of you still have problems, I gave ICICI a call yesterday and reported the results of the poll to them.

They are aware of the delay for many applicants and attribute it to an overwhelming number of applications since the account opened.

AS mentioned above, they have set up a dedicated email account to deal with UK applications.

If you email ukdirect@icicibank.com with your details, they have told us that you should get a reply within 2-3 days and should be able to update you on the progress.

Please keep letting us know about your experiences, especially on how using this email contact works.

Cheers

• Dan - I would suspect this e-mail contact will be just as useless as any other, they do not answer e-mails or private messages, full stop.
Probably worth giving it a try though in spite of that?
It's not only the delay in applications that seems to be the problem with this crowd, it's just the lack of response and/or communication from them, one way traffic all the time.
Now 8 working days since my request for account closure and the situation is still the same - nothing.
Sorry for the mini rant but their excuses for the delays etc. are not valid as far as I'm concerned for such a reportedly large organisation.
I personally feel as though I've been weeing against the wind for the past 1 1/2 months.
They have nearly £20000 of MY money and frankly I'm very concerned about not seeing it again. They are, in my opinion, 100% incompetent in every respect
