Well so far this is going like a dream, hope I haven't spoke too soon. As said, sent £1 initial cheque for now, along with half-completed R85 form (half completed as not got account number details etc yet), with a cover letter asking for confirmation that they will complete the form and process it when account opens. Also emailed copy of letter and today, less than 48 hours later, email back:
Dear Miss Thomas,
Thank you for your email.
We would like to inform you as we receive the R85 form the same will be loaded in your account to receive gross interest.
Regards,
HiSAVE Team,

Can't ask for anything more yet, but lets see how the rest of it goes.0 -

Hi there,
I applied for the ICICI account ad got an email after 4 days telling me that I need to send an attested copy of my driving licence or passport and utility bills since they couldnt ascertain my identity properly from the details they could get.... may be because I just moved into a ew house this month only.
But I am not going to get any papers attested by a banker or solicitor..!!!!!!!!I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -

Why not? It is not as much of a hassle as it appears - I got a similar letter, and sent out copies attested by my bankers and sent it out and the next day, got an acknowledgment from them. What can be irritating is the fact that we are used to getting postage prepaid envelopes for such document requests, which ICICI don't send, so I had to pay for the postage :-(It's always the grass that suffers, irrespective of whether the elephants are fighting or making love !!!0 -

Thanks. So, how can I get it attested? Can I do it any bank and ask them to attest it? Or is it that It has to be my bank branch only? Would the banker charge anything for attestesting?I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T0 -

I checked at a bank and solicitors office, and they both wanted to charge me £10 to do this.
I then went ahead and got my accountant to do it (for free). ICICI told me though that an accountant isn't as qualified as a banker !!!, so it was unacceptable

Those few of you not utterly sick of my updates, here's the last one (probably).
I set two transfers for the 23rd, one out and one in, both involving the same current account.
The transfer out went through on the 26th. The transfer in hit the ICICI account on the 27th, but the money has apparently not left the current account yet; checking the ICICI account details rather than the statement shows that the money is not yet confirmed in the icici account. Fair enough.
In conclusion, whilst there are delays in transfers going through, I've never had to make a complaint or speak to anyone about the account. I've made a mental note to be careful with trasnfers in (i.e. not to assume that the money has left the current account just because it's arrived in ICICI) but otherwise I feel fine to leave a few thousand with ICICI.0 -
