Walletwatch wrote:This would probably depend on the bank then. I bank with Citibank and they do it free of charge, so far as you are a customer.
How did you manage that ???
Do you have a 'Citibank' branch near you ?
Thanks

QUICK NOTE:
ICICI BEST BUY POSITION SUSPENDED
DON'T APPLY TO ICICI BEST BUY 5.4% SAVINGS ACCOUNT! Indian bank ICICI's new UK subsiduary is the massive best buy. Yet the feedback on its service is the worst I've ever had - many people simply can't open account. I'm suspending it's best buy status, and hope it will get it's act together soon. If you've already applied I wouldn't drop it, just new applicants I wouldn't bother for the moment. For the next best payers see 'best savings account' which has been updatedMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I think Martin's decision is reasonable. As you're part way through the opening process, there's nothing to be gained by stopping now. You've got through the ID-checking process, which some people didn't even manage.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -
Will probably leave the £1 there, and stick with ING in the meantime and monitor the situation so ready to transfer across if/when they get their act together. Can afford to lose £1 (I guess) but not the £2000 I was looking to place with them0

If you get as far as being able to log in to your account, there would be no harm in trying a couple of small transfers (e.g. £1) into the account and then out again to test that side of things is working ok. My experience is that transfers are a bit slow, but do get there. It's the process of setting the account up properly that is giving so many people headaches.0 -
Don't worry. Im actually going to have a slight play. I think sending a £1 cheque, getting it up and running is a great idea. Going to make that my recommendation.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I think ICICI have taken the adverse feedback seriously and hopefully they can do something about it and improve their customer service and efficiency. I received a 'phone call yesterday obviously in response to my second letter to Mr CEO - it wasn't from him. I was told they have taken note of all the feedback etc. and are in the process of doing something about it. Haven't we heard that before though from other organisations, government departments, government etc?0

I am currently looking to have the capital on my house transfered to a HISAVE account once my house sale goes through mid september as we won't be able to move into our new one. It would amount to just over 100K for about 3 months but I'm not sure what to do now. Can anyone give advise?
I should have said I'm at the process of getting my solicitor to attest to the IDs.What goes around - comes around
