Thanks to who ever it was who first suggested to me about cooking chicken in the sc. I cooked one today and it was absolutely gorgeous-cooked brilliantly and kids even managed clean plates tonight. So thanks again-it was well worth the effort of fighting to get the chicken in coz it was a bit big for size of sc (as opposed to fighting to get the chicken in coz it wasn't dead-it WAS dead-honest!!!)

    Hi guys,

Well it all went pear shaped yesterday and I had a phonecall at 2.30pm to let me know that he was in dire straits. His co2 levels were higher than his o2 levels and neither the ventilator or hand bagging were able to deliver enough oxygeon to his lungs. The only thing they could do was to turn him on his belly and ventilate him that way. Allthough there was no immediate response his co2 levels did drop over the next few hours and his condition stabalized a little.

He is back on the critical list and we are back to taking it hour by hour. So far we are 35 hrs on and he is a little improved, the dr's are unable to predict anything ahead as they say each case of ARDS is different and all we can do is hope and pray that his lungs start to make a recovery.

I am shattered and unable to sleep tonight. I spent last night with him willing him on and celebrating with the anaesthetist every slight improvement in his condition.

I cannot go back to see him until Monday as there is no one able to care for the children for me, but they also need me around as they are missing their dad.

I hope you are all ok.

    Smoky.

Oh Smoky, I just don't know what to say. ((((hugs)))) to you, I so wish I could do more than offer virtual support and hugs:o I don't know what to say, other than you are never far from my thoughts, or prayers. I hope this will eventually have a good result. If wishes could do it, you'd be there already. Remember there are so many people just willing your DH to come through this. Take care of yourself. Love to you and the children, CM xxxx
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
  • Smoky, I'm so sorry there is no one there to watch the kids and it is so unfair that you have to be away from him but you need to sleep,. Failing that I'll be up for a while if you want a chat. xxxx

Smokey  I wished I lived closer too as I would gladly have your children while you were up in the hospital. I really do hope from the bottom of my heart that he improves over the weekend. My thoughts and prayers are with you & your family.
