Oh I know our chances are much smaller because of my age, but I made the point about being young in outlook as other posters said that having older parents weren't fun and didn't want to do fun things with them. All we can do is try. My younger sister had her first at 40 and I have more than one friend who has had their first baby 40 + so we dearly hope it will happen but if it doesn't, it doesn't.

I think 25 to 35 is probably the "perfect" years.

But outside of these "perfect" years works well for people too.

And I truly wish you luck....but if you were the OP at 35 - would you be encouraging her to dither or saying "get on with it" "what are you waiting for"If the OP was my daughter I would defo be saying the later...."get on with it":p

I am 35 in a couple of weeks, living with my boyfriend and feel no where near ready to have a baby. However, I am conscious of my age and don't want to leave it until it's too late.

I know these doctors scare monger people- but how late is too late???

    Stories please !!!:T

Too late is when the menopause starts......up until then there is no such thing as being too old.

I know a number of women who waited until they were 35+ to have their children and conceived with no problems. I will say though, that the ones 40+ did wish they had tried earlier....mainly because they felt tired tbh.

If you don't have a history of early menopause, then I don't think you need to worry yet - take your time - and good luck when you do decide to go for it.:D

Im 25 in June and still living with my parents! Thanks to high house prices

Me and bf are looking to get a house this year though

We are talking of TTC when we are 28. Is this leaving it late for a first baby?

Just think that if we are lucky enough to have kids at 28/29 any 2nd one would'nt be until we're 32/33

My Mum had me when she was 25 and my brother when she was 30

Reading my post Im sure people will say that 28 is fine but Im a natural worrier!

Why are you worrying - that is young!!:D

I had mine at 20, 26 and 28 - I consider that I've had mine quite young. OH was 32 when our youngest was born last year.

I think 28 is an optimum age for trying for a baby - good luck:D

  • I had my first at 31 (DH was 37) and i've just turned 33 (DH is 38) and i'm overdue with no.2. I wish I had had mine in my mid-late 20's though, but I hadn't met my husband till i was 27 and he didn't feel ready until I gently twisted his arm up his back at 36. I don't think he would have ever been really ready to have children if it wasn't for me wanting them, but now they are here (or nearly) he loves them to bits. He's always maintained i've been broodier than him because of hormones and a women's instinct to have children.

I was a late starter too. I was 30 with no. 1 and am 35 now, pregnant with no.2. I know someone who is 44 and just had her 10th! She won't say that was her last either!

  • 10!!! OMG, does that woman not do sleep? Or maybe she doesn't have a TV.......probably can't afford the licence with 10 children. :-)
