  • Thanks for all your replies- Ellies Mum that is lovely- good luck with DS !!!

I suppose I should talk with OH about it and at least plan when we would start trying. I don't think he realises the tick tock so much, especially being younger. His Mum though is desperate for us to have children and she's only 14 years older than me !!

I worry about this aswell, not for me though. Im 20 and my boyfriend is 35. Weve talked about marriage / kids etc and have said we will wait till I finish uni (this summer) before looking at engagment etc. We both want a decent engagment (2 years) before getting married and then would like a few years to enjoy having 2 wages and being just the 2 of us :) So roughly we reckon about 6 years from now.

Well Id be 26, great age for kids. But Boyfriend will be 41 which worries me. My dad was 40 when I was born and he couldnt do alot with me due to back problems etc. I was so glad that I had older brothers (ones 9 years older, other 13 years) who could take me to the park etc.

Its probably my biggest fear about us, but what can we do? Its not like I can magically make him 10 years younger! :(

My mum was 42 when she had me, and having gone through the experiences that i have, made a personal decision not to have any more children past 29. I had DS1 at 21 and DS2 9 weeks ago at 26.
I think i was a bit of a surprise for my mum-who passed away 7 years ago.
DH knows i won't be having anymore kids which he is fine about as he's always said no more for him once he hits 35, which is in April as he doesn't want to be bringing up children in his 50's, for us that's the time we should be enjoying grandchildren :D

Only you can know when you feel ready to have children and once you've got them there's no going back, as for being unsure you can always borrow mine for a weekend :D
If everyone cared and nobody cried, if everyone loved and nobody lied, if everyone shared and swallowed their pride then we'd see the day when nobody died.

    :(

That's the problem with age differences- yours is the other way to mine- you have to take this into consideration... and compromise.... somehow? It's difficult isn't it.
The way we are now- my OH's career is really taking off and he wants to work abroad- I would love to be the same age as him- not worry about the kids thing and just continue having fun together, but can't. I have to think about these things now. If it's any consideration my Dad was 15 years older than Mum and I was born when Dad was 39- I never remember Dad seeming older with no energy ! They always seemed the same age ! Good luck !!

I had my first at 21, and she had a great great granny! I guess there is a pattern of young marriages in our family. That was one of the lovely things about it. I am 30 now and have just had my third and i must admit I am much more chilled out in my parenting style now I have seen the world a bit and realised there is more to a happy baby than crying-it-out etc

Im 25 in June and still living with my parents! Thanks to high house prices

Me and bf are looking to get a house this year though

We are talking of TTC when we are 28. Is this leaving it late for a first baby?

Just think that if we are lucky enough to have kids at 28/29 any 2nd one would'nt be until we're 32/33

My Mum had me when she was 25 and my brother when she was 30

Reading my post Im sure people will say that 28 is fine but Im a natural worrier!
