Aargh- I went to Boots last night for something for a sore throat and ended up spending £5.50. In my defense I did have a gift voucher so didn't actually spend cash. Bought myself a cucumber moisturiser which is lovely and a bargain for £1.39 and also got three bits for my presents stash, plus some throat sweets of course.
Not great but could have been so much worse, and it's given me the impetus to get ebaying to earn the money back.....
Good luck with your challenge. I am definitely spending less at the moment and it is such a good feeling not to be up to the overdraft limit at the end of the month!:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
Having a good week so far. Well ok it's early on day 2 but I'm doing well. Spent £1 yesterday at Mums and Tots and had to spend £25 on petrol today. Will have to do some food shopping today or tomorrow (probably tomorrow as I'm just off night shift and am really tired). I will make a list and stick to it. No impulsive buys and stay away from Boots:eek:
Hello head-to-head mate.
Did OK yeterday, I spent £5.50 on food (breakfast for week and then food for rest of day), went a bit wrong when I spent £50 today going out to dinner - have two more nights out this week so will probably overspend this week:eek::o:eek:- but think that means supernoodles for me for next two weeks to make up the average.:o

Hi everyone. Been on vacation with the family (probably the last we'll all take together, sibs and parents and all) and was very careful with funds (probably because my parents footed the bill and watched me like a hawk---very depressing for an adult). Although I must say that staying at a Walt Disney World resort in Florida was expensive. Imagine buying water for $1.90 at stands in the parks and then $2.50 through vending machines??? Worse if gotten through room service. It was lovely, though, all Disney magical. Only real splurge was pair of designer shoes, with 40% discount (Memorial Day sale). I've gotten to the point where I'm constantly asking myself if I need this and that, and taking forever to decide on anything, even cheap clothes at Forever 21 and H&M. Side effect of going cold turkey, I guess.
And one of my credit card companies have sent me a new replacement card for next cycle... promptly cut it up. Thinking about canceling account, but it's one of my oldest ones, very good for background... what do you guys think? I had 7, got rid of 3 already, not using the rest but considering canceling them.Spendaholics Anonymous Thread Member Number 57!0 -
Hi everyone,
Not been on here for a while either, naughty
Not been spending either! Seem to have cracked it, but have to work hard every day and remind myself that I don't need - new clothes, shoes, jewellery, make up, sweets or chocolate (that ones hard - luckily my lovely DS buys it for me!) Seems to work, but it is certainly an ongoing battle.
Keep up the good work everyone!

I hope you enjoy your nights out. Super noodles are yummy though
This challenge has been harder than I expected. I'm still coming in under budget but it's not easy. Yesterday I spent £12 at the market, £19.36 at Asda and £6.27 in a filling station. Today I have spent £3.70 taking dd swimming and a further £4.27 at the filling station:eek: On the plus side I haven't been near Boots or even set foot in the shopping centre.
On Saturday I am off to see Bon Jovi in Dublin. This is all pre budgeted for so I will not over spend. I found 30 euros lurking in a drawer from the last time I went to Dublin and I will get a further £30 changed into euros. I think this will be plenty. I am taking sandwiches so I won't be spending too much on food. My big challenge will be if I can resist buying yet another Bon Jovi t-shirt. I have loads and never wear them as they are too nice and I don't want to ruin them:rolleyes: This will be my sixteenth time seeing them so that's quite a few t-shirts.100 Day Pot £13

Today I have gone over budget:eek: Although I have still been very good. I have now spent £82.14 this week. I will only be spending my pre budgetted money tomorrow at Bon Jovi. I am working on Sunday so this will be a NSD. I am still really pleased with myself so far. Before this challenge my weekly average spend was anything from £200-£300 which is outrageous:eek:

Well done on your first week, the drop is brilliant regardless of missing your target by a few quid and at least you have the measure of it now so will be primed for next week.
I have gone over so I am going to be a hermit this weekend and so just need to get some food in to see me through.
Right - a quick rough and ready tot up (will be as precise as I can on Sunday although please be aware that I was VERY drunk on two occasions so there is no accounting for what may have happened there - lol
£5 on food for breakfast and some lunches for the week
£50 on dinner
£6.50 on drinks
£15 on a cab (am ashamed to admit)
maybe £3 on a dirty chicken burger and chips when drunk (I ate it but I may have got OH to pay)
£10 on hangover food yesterday
£5 on breakfast with friends (bad girl)
£3 for dinner and snacks (would have been less but cadburys fingers are only 64p in the local tescos and they called to me)
= about £95 ish - oh dear
I will need about a tenner to get through the weekend so that will basically take me up to £105 so my revised weekly budget will have to be £60
Time for me to tighten that belt!£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

This challenge is harder than I expected. It is a real eye opener though. At least you have had an enjoyable week and can tighten the purse strings next week. I dread to think what I'd spend if I was drunk:eek: I get carried away too easily, think more drink is the way forward and end up really ill the next day:rolleyes:100 Day Pot £13

Yup - I know that feeling (which explains why I was on here at 1.30 one morning this week instead of tucked up in bed. And why the next day I felt so terrible I could hardly stand up)
But this week will be a dryish week. I have been able to do £70 before, I have just gone a little bit wayward since so this challenge is great for reigning me back in.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
