You need to play it cool G-G, the old treat 'em mean philosophy! (sort of).
It's out of your hands now and if they haven't actually decided yet then repeated phone calls from you might tick them off if they're that way inclined.
I once applied for a job and wasn't contacted for nearly three weeks which I had no warning of. When they called & left a message I deliberately left it a few days before returning the call. When I heard the offer I didn't actually want the job but by waiting a while I wanted them to know I had abit of self respect and wasn't hanging on their every word. Desperation can be offputting.
Good luck anyway"I always pass on good advice. It is the only thing to do with it. It is never of any use to oneself" -Oscar Wilde0 -
I think you are quite right.. I won't contact them again now.. I have sent one email and spoke to him once today and so it's in his hands if he contacts me. Although I am suprised to be honest. He did say he would ring me later but I havn't heard anything, saying that he has called at 7pm and 8pm at night before, so maybe I will give him longer before I totally get disheartened.
I just think that he knows I am wanting an answer and has not let me know.. so i'm a little annoyed.. but, see what happens I guess...
Thanks for the post tho xBSC Member 155

As Voyager suggests, there may be internal procedures and politics which can delay an offer or there was another candidate who gets the first offer. If that person accepts and you get the Dear John letter, don't think that's the end of it.
If the person appointed doesn't stay (for whatever reason), then they may want to come to you - if you are so close that they can't say "no" outright, you are in with a chance in any case.
I applied for one job where the employer decided my salary requirements were too high. Till a month down the line and they realised I could be worth it! (But they were too late.)0 -

Thats happened to me on several occasions. That and the old 'we're not sure that position exists any more'
If it makes you feel any better, OP, I've been waiting on the outcome of a job application for almost 2 months. Its a maternity cover and they're doing loads of internal restructuring, so while they don't want to tell me I'm unsuccessful, they can't give me a yes either. At this rate the baby'll be born before they make their minds up. In the meantime, I've jacked in my job anyway and gone freelance.
Please keep the thread updated and good luck0 -
Thanks everyone.. to be honest if I don't get the job then that is fine.. I really want it, but that is life.. I understand that.
What I don't get is why they said they will let me know by the weekend, then didn't, he got my email this morning as when I called he said 'I was going to get back to you this afternoon' and then no call or email? I'm just dissapointed and feeling impatient..
If he had said this morning, I might not know until Thursday then fair enough..
Also, they discussed the start date of the 25th to me in the final interview and asked if that would be ok. I said yes. But that is monday, so surely they should let me know asap.BSC Member 155
