I know that a lot of people liked the comps ending posts. Although I didn't use them myself I thought they reduced the amount of bumped 'comp closing' posts but I didn't enjoy the 'part 1, part 2 etc' or the fall out when 2 people were doing the same dates.
As they're not going to be allowed on here, and whilst people get accustomed to using the standardised end date, I wondered if any, more IT literate people, could set up a discussion forum on another site to host the list of days. I'm given to understand there are sites that will host discussion forums for free.
It could work the same way as it was tried here, people volunteer for a particular date, then compile all the thread links & descriptions off line in word or whatever, and then post onto the other discussion forum when ready & update as last minute comps come in?
It would need some organising and effort but might meet everyones point of view - keeping them off MSE but allowing people to enter by end date.

I've tried to keep my oar out of the whole comps ending thing, but mpython's suggestion had crossed my mind once or twice over the last few days & seems like the best compromise..0

I am making a formal request to a board guide to set up a poll.
I know a decision has been made on the old format, but it would be nice to have a formal decision as to whether any of the other options are feasible,and also gauge what board feeling is.
For those people who say the boards are fine the way they are, I understand your point of view, but surely one more thread a month won't hurt you, so why argue so much against it? I understood when people were arguing against many comps ending threads, but one?? If we could have options for yes want one thread a month, yes want it on another board, don't mind either way and no that would be helpful.
I don't want to post a poll without the agreement of the guides and htink it would be better coming from them anyway.

why don't we have a sticky 'no discussion' thread for competitions ending where each post lists competition ending on xx/xx ?

Something that's always intrigued me is how do the board guides keep up to date with moving competitions into game over when the end date has passed?
