End Date and Comps Ending Soon - UPDATED 29/2 URGENT

To keep you all updated on the comps board at the moment.
We are in discussions about the end date format yet again. But like M_E has said the format has always been E: 18/02 win etc... This is how we would like to keep it, so if everyone could keep to that it would be great.
I have said numerous times on these boards. The end date was originally put on to help board guides out, and it is still mainly used for this purpose. When we move stuff to game over we go by the date so we dont have to look in every thread individually!!
on to a more contentious issue. These threads that people are starting about comps closing xx date. They are really getting a bit much now. I didnt mind when we were just a day ahead, but to have until the end of the month is just clogging up the boards.
To be honest i know this was started by some as they wanted rid of the end date and individual threads with the date on and all comps on that closing date posted in there, but I will be blunt. Thats not going to happen!! It would be chaos and take far to much time for the board guides to sort out.
After February can we please not have any more comps closing xx date threads. If people want to find the comps they can search. Its been working fine for 4 years now!!!
I know the above is going to upset some of you, but this makes life a lot easier for the board guides and other users

<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->UPDATE 29/02
URGENT PLEASE READ!!!
right after much discussion between all the board guides we have a proposal to make to everyone and think that we have come up with a great compromise that will suit everyone.
please let us know what you think of the idea.
we will have one comps closing xx date thread allowed this will be posted a day before so for eg. if one was posted today it would be for tomorrows date and so on.
this will be made a sticky daily by which ever board guides spots it first and then moved to game over at the end of the day.
Who posts the thread will be up to users, if it is duplicated then they will be merged in together so there is always only one thread per day.
Please dont fight over who does which day!! you can sort it out amongst yourselves in the comps discussion thread.
we will start this from tomorrow if people like this idea so if someone wants to complie a list for all comps ending 02/03 then that will be made a sticky tomorrow morning.

apologies as I for one haven't put in the E: bit. I will try and remember but apologise now if I forget. Old habits die hard."Every day when I wake up I thank the Lord I'm Welsh" Cerys Matthews0

I truly am sorry for putting people's noses out of joint over this. All of us as contributors can make the forum quickly fall back into order.
It may seem petty but if we all keep to a stricter method the whole forum will benefit.“We are not interested in the fact that the brain has the consistency of cold porridge.” - Alan Turing (1912-1954)0 -
Sorry about the whole comps ending thingy - I guess it did get a bit out of hand, I didn't really think it through....Dream of being mortgage free....

Well i for one will miss the comp ending forums.. This was a way of me checking i hadn't missed any before they end. But what the boss says goes....;)
Thanks to all those who have taken the time to have done these in the past. You were appreciated.0 -
I prefer to enter the comps individually rather than on a comps ending thread....my brain just wont work in that way!!;)Thanks to all comp posters:ADo not take life too seriously; you will never get out of it alive0

I will miss them too, it bought order to the chaos that is my life. I appreciate all the hard work of those that did the threads, but understand the firm hand that prevails.
Good luck to us all next month..... Lets all have some good wins!I think I am going slightly mad.....0 -
Just to toss in a live grenade... if the 'Comps Ending' posts were just limited to a day or two ahead, would it mess up the boards so much? A lot of people appreciate them, and some are pleased to do it, so can we come to some compromise whereby we can have them but only for the next couple of days ahead? That is only going to be a couple of posts at a time. Pretty please?0

Davadee,
You suggest we search for the threads but it would help us all if the search engine on the forum would actually pick up the E: 18/02 text but it doesn't - how can we get around this to make everyone's life easier - I can't afford to spend hours going through all the pages to find the competitions ending in the next few days so the "Competitions Ending" posts have been a real boon to me - and I'm sure to many others as well.0 -
Apologies Divadee - finger trouble0

I don't usually get on this PC until very L8 & I have found the ending date lists very useful as it is sometimes a rush to fit in as many entries as I can before they close.
You have to be careful as some competitions never close when they say they should i.e They finished the day before.
This can be quite annoying especially if there is a website error. Also what has come to my attention recently is that the odds on winning competitions is getting longer thanks to companies which charge a fee & then they enter all the competitions for you i.e PRIZEDRAW CENTRE.
The end result of this could put many companies off running online competitions & freebies as they want get the people visiting their sites:mad:
Although I understand why you aren't happy with the closing day threads I agree with some of the other forum members that it would be a good idea allow 2-3 days to be posted as it can be a godsend when time is short.0
