End Date and Comps Ending Soon - UPDATED 29/2 URGENT

I pick and choose my times for comps!! I love doing them, but I have a job that involves extra work at home, I have 3 kids (and 2 stepkids) and I am trying to keep fit(Get skinny!)!!
I have tried to start from the back and move forward, but the comps ending were a gift to me!!
Working your way thru pages and pages or 1 page for that day??
Also I like the thrill of the comp! Enterring a year in advance and you may well forget!! "days before and its on your mind!! You may search your emails, wait for the postie ( I have started ringing home, bit still no luck!) we are all different, but I like the excitment!! I listen for the postie.
I have started from the last page and intend to move forward, but it is so much harder than comps ending!! On each day the pages are different!! ( I started at 202, one day later there is only 199!! I had to go thru each page again) To catch up to date is hard, some are bumped, to keep up to date with a busy schedule is even harder!!
The comps ending is just so organised, the ops must also have seen that they have far more thanks!!
If you are a regular then this option really isnt required, however, for the likes of me who check as often as possible ie 4 times - 20, it really is!!ACII and Chartered so now I can focus on learning to play my beautiful Sax. 🎷0 -

Heres a link for the 25/02 Princess. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

I know this might be lighting the blue touch paper but I hope we can discuss this calmly again now.
I have been very suprised at the Poll results in the site questions forum - not so much the % split, as the actual numbers of people asking for the comps ending dates threads to either remain in their current form or in an amended form. I cannot recall another poll on MSE (not just comps) that has had this level of response. At the time of writing the results are
<!-- / PAGENAV POPUP --><TABLE class=tborder cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=4 width="100%" align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=tcat colSpan=4>View Poll Results: What's your take on the Competitions Ending threads? </TD></TR><TR><TD class=thead style="FONT-WEIGHT: normal" align=middle colSpan=4>This poll will close on 23-03-2008 at 6:29 PM</TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 width="50%">FOR the threads in their current format </TD><TD class=alt2 width="50%"></TD><TD class=alt1 title=Votes align=middle>115</TD><TD class=alt2 noWrap align=right>56.10%</TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 width="50%">FOR the threads in revised format (to be discussed at future date) </TD><TD class=alt2 width="50%">
</TD><TD class=alt1 title=Votes align=middle>53</TD><TD class=alt2 noWrap align=right>25.85%</TD></TR><TR><TD class=alt1 width="50%">AGAINST the threads </TD><TD class=alt2 width="50%">
</TD><TD class=alt1 title=Votes align=middle>37</TD><TD class=alt2 noWrap align=right>18.05%</TD></TR><TR><TD class=tfoot align=middle colSpan=4>Voters: 205. You have already voted on this poll</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
When I think that most comps do not even get 200 'thanks' (I know popular ones get over 300), that's a very big groundswell of opinion.
In the discussion that follows the poll 2 reasonable suggestions are made to continue the threads.
1) offsite on another discussion forum, (one user volunteered to set it up but no one volunteered to run it), and
2) within the comps forum but as a separate sub-forum like game over, in order to keep the main board free of these threads.
Its been suggested that if we can get everyone to adopt the standard end date in their title, then users can order the threads by end date. As some will know I tried to coax people to using the standard end date for about a week and, although its use has improved dramatically, there remain many variations and some people have started to use shortend or non-standard versions again. So therefore, I don't think that's going to work, I think itll be a bit like emptying he sea with a bucket. IMO adding corrective posts to a thread can also change the atmosphere on the forum and I know lots of people want the atmosphere to remain fun on here.
So there, I've raised this again, as although I didn't use the end date threads myself, I can appreciate how much they were liked & used by others. From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
