Sorry, I'm very untechnical and need things explained in very small words and veeerrry sloowwlly!

Is Netscape 7.2 a browser or an ISP? I know it used to be an ISP because we were with them before they were absorbed by the great AOL. If it's your ISP, maybe it's because I'm with Tiscali that I'm having a problem, in other words maybe IE + Tiscali = ebay ok, Firefox + Tiscali = ebay not ok.

I'm not too keen to change ISP as I'm quite happy with mine in all other respects, but as I'm one of those sad people who needs their ebay fix I may have to if I'm to ditch the dreadful IE.

Thanks for the nice welcome by the way!

Netscape 7.2 is a browser just as Firefox and IE are. I know there is a Netscape ISP but I am not referrring to them.

I note you said you were having problems with selling on EBay. Can you get into your account and buy or is this also a problem?

    Regards,

I downloaded firefox yesterday after reading all of the previous threads but i'm experiencing a few problems:

    (1) When i open a browser window i find that a lot of the pictures aren't displayed, all i get is a box where the picture should be.

    (2) At the moment it's very very slow, i followed the tip given by 3dom (post#4) but this doesn't appear to have helped so far.

Thanks for any help and sorry if any of these questions have been previously answered

    just one question (for now)

I have startted using firefox as from seeing this thread and quite like it but when ever I click a short cut on my desktop for instance it reuses the same window, so then I have to press back button open another firefox window then click the link

anyone know how to stop it from doing this?

Go to Tool / Options then click Advanced on the left

Under the tabbed browsing section, select

Open links from other applications in...
a new tab in the most recent window
    or
    a new window

I have been a convert for some months now - but a word of warning some sites will only work with IE/Netscape, so keep a copy on your PC. An example from is the Portland Direct Holiday site, you can browse with Firefox but if you want your holiday cost calculating you will need to use IE.

Forgot to remind everyone to get the IEView Extension which puts an 'open in IE' option in your right-click menu

You can also tell it to always open troublesome in IE.

Makes switching between the two browsers so easy. :)

You'll need to ask your ISP for their POP3 mail settings and then enter them into Thunderbird where it is asking for them.

Mine look like this for example:
    outgoing mail is smtp.breathe.com
    incoming mail is pophodt1.breathe.com
    where Breathe is my ISP.

I haven't used IE for some time now, first tried opera and then mozilla and now firefox. They are all better than IE apart from speed in rendering pages they are more secure as most viruses, at the moment at least, are written for IE.

I am using Firefox at present and would concur with all the remarks made before.

With regard to Thunderbird, I use that as well and find it better than IE.

The new Safari 2 with RSS is the fastest at rendering pages... however I think we are going to see quite a big difference with firefox when 1.5 is released.

The only thing IE7 will potentially have over Firefox 1.5 is the anti-phishing thing...

As an example the BBC Radio Player works ok in IE but in Firefox the 5mins> and 15mins> buttons do not work

They work with Firefox for me.
