Browsers are the software used to view the net, 90% of people use Microsofts Internet Explorer, yet Mozilla's Firefox is commonly regarded as beating it hands down & a free 'British' English version is available. It's worth a look (you don't have to get rid of your old browser) as amongst other things it allows free live updates to sites such as MoneySavingExpert!).

Stuff I found that greatly improves Firefoxes Speeeeeed
--
Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:
1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:
network.http.pipelining
network.http.proxy.pipelining
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests
Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.
2. Alter the entries as follows:
Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"
Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30.
This means it will make 30 requests at once.
3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0".
This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.
4. Find network.dns.disableIPv6
Double click to toggle it to true and then restart Firefox.
You should notice a speed increase, page to page.0 -

I am a non techy person whose OH put firefox on my PC without me knowing!
It took me AGES to get use to it but now I would never change back to explorer. I find the 'tabs' are a lot easier to use and the bookmark 'bar' is great.
I would TOTALLY recommend this to everyone.... give it a try!
KiT
PS - OH is trying to convert me to Thunderbird instead of Outlook, I'm not so sure but may run it for a while to see what I think.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
