Anyone use a steam press for ironing?

Right I've had chance to really try out the press and I have to say its unlikely I will use my iron again. The press is fab. I also tried out the steam one but to be honest its better as a dry press because the steam is so hot and it becomes unbearable after only a short period of time.
I've wrote about my experience on my blog if anyone is interested. I've also put a little link on to a lady folding a t-shirt. She is absolutely amazing and I am so going to use her methods from now on. I'd never heard of the Japanese method before but you have to see it, you will be impressed!! :T
Edited to add. Here's the link to the t-shirt folding lady if you want the direct link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOHHQMQBd5s0 -

Keep trying larmy, it such a great tip. I've learnt it now and its so much quicker than trying to fold t-shirts in the normal way. They look so much neater. I've even taught my daughter who does a lot of folding and straightening in her job!0 -
Afraid I can't contribute much to this debate as we live in a very hard water area and after hearing that putting tap water into my iron to generate steam would gradually ruin it, I don't use the steam facility. If I want to press anything using steam I use a clean damp teatowel, which is rather old fashioned but still works effectively. Besides, ironing is against my better nature and if it doesn't show it doesn't get ironed !0

Primrose I've found that you dont need to use a steam press, infact I've found that a dry press and a spray bottle is much more effective.
Larmy here you go, I've found a woman who speaks english to show us how to do the folding thing. I've been impressing all my friends with how fast I can do it... I need to get out more!

hi guys i bought a tobi.. its not a steam press nor an iron its free standingwith a water holder in the bottom and best of all its portable so you can do curtains whilst they are hangingor bedding when its on the bed.you turn it on takes lees than 30 seconds for the steam to come, hang your clothes on the hangers and away you go. its fantastic quick easy to use takes up v little space....
when i first got it i had a play and then called my matewho sad to sat came running to see,she had a play and ended up doing all my ironing (4 huge piles must have been thigh high) in about 40 mins sad to say i am in her oh bad books as she ordered one from one of the shopping channels before she went home.......its so sad i hated ironing before but know i dont even class it as ironing and best of all my home no longer looks like a chinese laundry:D
With mothers day nearly here I've been looking at these Tobi's but I'm wondering if its just the same thing as my polti?
I've got the polti vaporetta (or whatever its called) would it be the same as a Tobi if I put it on a low steam setting?0 -

Slash, where are yooooo?
You are very naughty because you have made me order a steamer... will people please stop recommending things because this moneysaving site is costing me a fortune! :rotfl:
I ordered mine from ebay, its not a tobi its a commercial one (second hand so cheaper than a tobi)
So everyone who has one, whats your best tip? I've read that you can do a crease on mens shirts just by pulling the sleeve.
And what about beds, do you just 'iron' the bed?
Thanks guys0 -
ooh, i need one of those too. really must stop coming on here!'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0

I'd never even heard of the Tobi until Slash mentioned it, then I needed one. I honestly daren't write down how many bargains I've gone for and how much money i've spent since finding this site.
I ordered a fire pit the other day from the grabbit board, i'd never heard of them either but once I looked them up I needed one lol!0 -
Well I got out my Tobi style clothes steamer yesterday and zipped through a load of clothes that had been hanging around for ages. I don't know if it is my particular model but sometimes the steam seems to reduce the lower down the garment you go. Never the less, it is still good enough for general family clothing.
Angelina, I am proud to say that thanks to your link I can now do the t shirt folding trick!!!:j
Now the table is clear I may well get out the steam press and tackle the bed linen pile!Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
