Unfortunately they are my husbands jeans, and belive me he really isn't the embroidery type!
Oddly enough I just steamed through a couple of pints of water onto an old towell and it was fine. Sadly his jeans now have bleached spots.
I also only do my work trousers, jeans and work shirts, everything else is folded out of the TD.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
Well I've decided to get myself one from ebay.
I wish I could find an old industrial one but there's nothing on ebay at the moment. I love commercial stuff, so much better!0 -
Hooray I've bought one from ebay and its being delivered tomorrow!
I have a huge pile of ironing at the moment so I'm going to leave it until the press arrives!
I'm stupidly excited about an ironing press.. thats just wrong0 -
Hi Angelina I will watch this post with interest, I have been thinking about getting one.
Let us know how you get on.

I have the Domena steam press and it is great for sheets pillow cases, jeans and t shirts etc. As a complete gadget freak
I also have a clothes steamer, bit like a little vacum cleaner and you run the steamer over the clothes which you put on a hanger - love this one for family clothing that does not have to be perfect.
I do some ironing for one of my jobs and I am afraid for men's shirts to be good enough to work in the office/city neither of the above will do. It has to be a good old fashioned steam iron.
The steam press takes some determination to get it out and prepare a space etc (I live kind of cluttered) but it is very satisfying and for bed linen etc, which takes eons to iron, it really works a treat.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I really want one, been looking on ebay,
A family member just bought me a steam iron with seperate base for water etc as they thought thats what i wanted, gutted really, still in box, they said i could sell it & use money for press so might do that!!!

I honestly cant wait for it to come now. I dont know what it is with ironing but I just let it pile up so high. If I ever got to the bottom of the pile I swear I'd find all the kids babygrows.... and they are teenagers now! :rotfl:
I shall do a review Ally, I feel all wanted now lol!
Sunshine, yes get your iron whacked on ebay and buy a press with the money. I've bought a dry press and my mother got a steam press (I cant have anything without my mother) so I'll try them both out and see which is best.
Today I have an ironing pile the size of a small country, tomorrow I could have free time to spend on myself.... well thats what the advert says!0 -
Angelina the down side of getting the steam one, is they have these water cartridges which I believe cost about £16.00 (I could be wrong on this amount) so I never bothered to replace mine. They are for cutting down limescale but I used mine dry and just spray with a bottle of water in spray bottle. If your mum has any source for cheap cartridges I would be interested.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I thought it was just tap water!
No my mother has no idea about cartridges, I picked the press for her off ebay. I'm glad I went for a dry one now as £16 is a lot of money!
Do the steam ones really make much difference then or are the results as good with a water sprayer? I am getting confused because some say its steam but others say a jet of water... completely different things.0 -
Now I have to confess I only used one of the cartridge things - when I looked at the price of them I gulped and because of its size and the smallness of my house, the press went out into my shed.
The other day though, I thought this is ridiculous - I think I paid about £249 for mine from a catalogue (years ago) and bought it in and used it dry. As I only used it for some bedding and t shirts etc. it seemed to do the job fine.
I am going to have a look now on google for the cartridges.
OK just had a look and they are approximately £15 for 2 which is still a bit pricey - sorry if I gave you a shock but it was a couple of years ago I looked at them!!:DGrocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
