Happy valentine's day to those that do and a Happy Thursday to those that don't. dd11 will bring home a nice card for me from afterschool club and I will get her something too cos we love each other.

Dress down day today at w*rk which is about as exciting as today will get - I'm not in court for once so don't have to wear a suit so today my colleagues will be mostly finding out that I'm a bit gothy in my civvies :)

Will try to come home early today as I'm a bit behind with housework - was on the phone with bessie mate for about two hours last night - lovely to hear from her though.

Smokeybabe - huge hugs to you and yours - just take it hour by hour

    Happy Valentines day to everyone

(((Hugs))) to Smokybabe. Your in my prayers.

Another one who did'nt get anything, but me and dd may make some heart shaped gingerbread later.

This morning I have got to go to drop DD at nursery and then I'm going to Aldi and then off to the dentist for a scale and polish.

Tea is either spag bol or chilli havent decided yet may give dd the choice. Must go as I've broken the golden rule and sat down before I put the WM on.

    Have a good day everyone

    Hello

Well, I don't normally post here, but am being 'different' today. No valentine's day stuff from DH, but as I told him last night, if something appeared I would be suspicious..... after 21 years married if his habits changed ya know! I bought 2 mugs (self gifting is the way forward!) from Mr T for the princely sum of £1 each (one with I love you all over and one with hearts) and left them next to the kettle when I went to bed last night. The one with hearts was presented with a cuppa.

Half term. I'm not being lazy really....I nipped down, hung up washing and put WM on again. Made a tray with nice brekkie for me and a drink, meds and minerals, armed myself with the laptop, said tray and also SAD lamp for light therapy and am now back in my bed. From here I can sit and plan next week's meals for when the thread appears later, read book, do light therapy (up to an hour as it's a dull day), catch up with emails and friends etc in comfort. It's warmer up here today, as there is no sun on downstairs.

Pea and ham soup started yesterday is nearly ready, will try new bread recipe today. Crumble left over, so will make some custard. Sorted. Still have the reduced price mountain to sort, so will crack on with that today.

    have a good day everyone.

  • Morning everyone

Happy Valentine's Day to those who have a special someone (I don't) and a Thrilling Thursday to those who don't.

Smokybabe haven't read the rest of yesterday's thread yet but sending BIG ((((hugs)))) to you and yours.
HHester your present is the kind that I would appreciate. I love the Inspector Morse books. It's like a free language and grammar lesson - I love it when Morse points out something like a note that has 13 errors. I can't move on till I have found them all. (Sad, I know, but that's what floats my boat. :p )

W**K at job No 2 today. At least DS and DD finish for half-term at 12.35pm tomorrow. I will have a long weekend as I won't be back into the office till Wednesday. :j

No idea what's for dinner as I am using the last of the rubber chicken for my lunch today. Maybe a something quick from the freezer. Will make a fish pie tomorrow though.

Have a good one folks. xx

  • Good Morning all!

We are having a thrifty Valentines Day this year, no cards, no presents but are going to cook a nice meal (with food from the freezer of course) and have the bottle of champagne I got for my birthday.

Children are having heart shaped HM pizza!

I don't need a card of a rabbit in a bonnet to know my OH loves me - he shows me every day - lucky me!!

    Have a lovely day all!

    Morning peeps

    ((Smokybabe))

Lovely day here again:j No valentines cards here either, but no doubt I will get one later, I usually get one from the dogs:rolleyes: :D Amazing how they can write with such huge paws:D
Off to Surrey working in a mo the back this afternoon to the opticians to have my eyes tested as I want some new specs, the ones I have got OH bought me about 2 years ago they are nice armani ones but all of a sudden they are irritating me:confused: I thinks specsavers have the 2 for 1 offer on too.
Need to do an online shop later, I seem to be saving a few quid by doing my shopping online as I am not mooching round the store slinging unwanted things into my trolly.
Not too sure whats for dinner tonight, had an e-mail from my mum in NZ she is heading back to OZ on Sunday for another month, she comes back 30th March :j
Right I have rambled on this morning, have a good day everyone,

  • Morning all! Massive <<<<hugs>>>> to Smokeybabe

Cloudy here today, not much chance of the sun peeping through I don't think. I've had a hectic week, hardly been in the house at all and am off out again today for coffee with a friend and then onto an apppointment in town at 1.

Got two cards from DH, it's a silly tradition that we started about 30 years ago, we get one card from each other and another anonymous one. I'm really hoping he hasn't bought me roses, they're such a rip off and one year when he did remember, they had wilted and died by the evening.

Going to make pizza for tea (hmm, I suppose I should make it heart shaped but not sure I can be bothered :rotfl: ). I've just got a ham sandwich for lunch as I'm on a strict budget this month.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Huge ((((hugs)))) to smokybabe.

scuzz - hope that the 10 min "catch up" goes well.

I returned from staying with my parents last night. They've just got broadband (having been on dial-up for ages) and my mum can't believe how quick it all is now. She needed anti-virus updating (and buying), so DH sorted that out for her and gave me instructions on how to sort it all out. That's the problem with living with an IT whizz - I don't have a clue! :o My mum wanted to take my dad to the First World War battlefields in Belgium for his birthday, so I helped her to book a ferry and accommodation. She's really chuffed with herself now. ;)

DH and I did exchange Valentine's cards this morning as we got together 5 years ago today. Normally, I wouldn't bother, but as it's a memorable date I ensure that DH knows that it's a memorable date. :D I'll be cooking that romantic dish of chilli con carne tonight. And the left overs will be put in the freezer for another week. :D

I need to catch up with a friend before I go back to school, so that will either be today or tomorrow. :o She now lives in the same town as me, but her 8 month old baby provides her with more of a social life than I can. I actually find it really difficult to find and make friends as my shyness comes down like a barrier. I try so hard, but then it's just easier to "give up" and revert to my normal self, even though I want to talk to people!!!

Anyway, I need to get myself out of my jimjams and have a shower! I might drag myself down to the library and I've got a recorded delivery letter to pick up from the Post Office. I don't know what it could be and DH assures me that it's nothing from him.

  • Morning all and happy valentines day

Lol - bf slipped up yesterday and opened his work bag and i saw my card in it and he said well that ruins that surprise, so i was chuffed, then he had to leave early this morning for work, i got up about 45 minutes later and theres no card no nothing - not even a text message to say happy valentines day!!! men why bother.

Anyway am having a day with my little one today. We are going to make some heart shaped short bread for daddy and decorate it with some icing and perhaps some melted chocolate on some others.

Hope everyone else is having a nice day
