Have e-mailed the surgery re: w/i....don't think I've done the 7lb by today tho:o
Had a 'cupboard' dinner last night..it fed two hefty oiks & a taster for me:p
1 clove of garlic
1 med onion roughly chopped...or rustic as I like to call it
1 tin value chopped toms
1 tin reduced sugar/salt baked beans...next size up from smallest
1 tin 8 hot dogs, sliced into coins.....only used 7 cuz Pup had one washed off
Bung it in a pan & heat gently, add basil & black pepper to taste. Serve with pasta.
I don't do points or what-have-you, but it was tasty if that's any help.

Hi all,
The sun is missing here as well today.... can see my snowdrops and the first two flowers on my forsythia just outside the lounge window, so makes up for it.
Rockie - Don't be fretting about OH's first day. He'll be fine.
Newlywed - With you all the way on this being a tough month budgetwise. I'm going to hunt down more 'cheap and cheerful' recipes today so I'll post any that I find. Will soon be March...then we can struggle through that one, too.
The_Cat - I think that phrase you used 'calm acceptance' must describe what I've been feeling this time round. It's not panicking me this time and I haven't set myself any goals regarding when I want this weight to be gone.
All I keep thinking is, 'that's another couple of lbs off my knees.'
Food today:
Readybrek
Mixed bean soup (hate pineapple in soup now but not wasting it  )
Toad in the hole, cabbage, carrots and onion gravy.
Snacks - Mandarins (found a sweet one so given me hope) and grapes
Best get stuck into my recipe books and might pop a movie on to watch with DS2. Love half term hols. :j
See you later.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

This is a recipe from D&DD on the '5 from the cupboard' thread but I'm sure she won't mind me posting it here. It was lovely!
Apple coleslaw
2oz red or white cabbage grated
1 large carrot grated
2 spring onions finely chopped (I used chunk of normal onion)
1 apple cored and grated
Dressing
1 tbspn olive oil
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tbsp mayonnaise
Mixed cabbage, carrot, onion and apple together in a bowl after grating (I used food pro).
Whisk oil and lemon juice together and then stir into the mayo. Spoon dressing over the salad and mix.
(I used red cabbage as I had 2 that I'd bought reduced and it came out a gorgeous purply colour. OH raised his eyebrows at the colour but it tasted lovely in a jacket spud. It made lots, too)MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Well I won't be measuring my steps any more, squeezing past something this morning and caught the pedometer, it broke off at the belt clip and gouged a great long scratch across my belly  Ouch! Then I scalded my arm on the kettle
OH has just rung to say his first day (it was just an induction today) went well so that's a relief
Did I say it was quiet today.....WRONG :wall: Still it's nearly weekend....Oh, I forgot.......I've got the grandkids staying:eek: But suprisingly, I don't want to stuff my face, I'm sat here eating a pear and drinking a cup of tea.
Cheerfullness - that apple coleslaw sounds nice, I might make some tonight..

Hi folks
Just a quick catch up before hubby gets home for dinner ..
Rockie it must be a day for pedometer mishaps.. the sliding thing where the battery goes has got wedged on my new one  ... hoping hubby is a little less ham fisted than me and can sort it out :rotfl: ...or i may have a hissy fit:rolleyes:
OUCH..on the arm and the belly.. Glad OHs first day went well :T I make him sound like its his 1st day at school ...bless:p
well dinner is under way -the house smelly yummy
I wrapped a head of garlic in foil and baked it..squidged it out and it has gone on to make garlic, caramalised onion and parmesan focaccia.. just need to whack it in the oven in a moment
Everything is chopped for the pasta dish and the table is set.... and now-because i have been smelling fod all day -im not hungry
Mind i did have some of the HM coleslaw with some sliced beef for lunch nom nomnom:p
Newlywed..will see what other meals i can come up with, its amazing what you can come up with when you have to isn't itmind im lucky as my hubby doesn't have a fussy bone in his body :T as long as its not apricots he is fine.... and as we know -there isn't much i won't eat
in fact one of my faves is sliced potatoes and onions in a dish-a lamb stock cube let down to about 1/2 a pt pour over -cover with foil and bake until soft then remove the foil and leave to crisp up the top ones and have it with a slice of HM bread... i could live on it-if it wasn't a serios carbohydrate overload:D
well i had better get off..have a god evening everyone..and good luck for the weighers in for the morning..fingers crossed everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Hi all
congrats to all of those who achieved the 7lb loss by Valentines day. I hope a similar challenge will get underway as I would love to join in.
Food is very bitty and haphazard today as am food shopping tonight and just have loads of bits lying around.
B. - Nothing (no time)
L. - HM slice spinach tart, half pineapple
D. - finish off rest of spinach tart and other half of pineapple. If still hungry, bowl of HM veg soup.
Snack/treats - keep eating quality street  , fruit.
Must write my shopping list for tonight now.
Someone please come up with a new challenge, would certainly be of benefit to me.
Enjoy the rest of your day everyone.
PS. forgot to say I did 40mins brisk walking as well :T:eek: Total debt £21,000 :eek:Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j0 -
MrsM - OH won't eat pasta, potatoes, rice or much bread coz of his diet - so I'm pretty much stuffed on most of the bulking out options
Have just got some extra bits to do a stirfry (have some prawns in freezer) and got a 1k pack of mince - so any new mince ideas where the mince stretches far would be good as my thoughts so far are:
Shep pie (Oh will eat this still)
Lasagna - and tough
Mince bake italianne (bol sauce, cheese sauce on top and then sliced chopped bread)
meatballs
I usually stretch mince with grated carrots, lentils, and any other veg I have
Wanted a chicken to roast but to feed 4 of us the choice was cheap unhappy chicken or organic stuff I couldn't affordThe mince should stretch just as far.
PS - I hate apricots!!!
OH will eat most other things as long as it's low fat and none of the things listed aboveworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hi All,
Well our flat is feeling much smaller than usual with OH's son, daughter and grandson here. Even though he is the smallest one, it is the baby of course that seems to take the most space. We were up earlier than usual too so am feeling tired now. I've persuaded Stepdaughter to try mashed up banana with a bit of pineapple juice for baby's tea and he has loved it. Hopefully, after a week with us she will realise she doesn't need to spend a fortune on jars and tins.
I had my weigh in this morning and was bitterly disappointed not to have lost any again - though I still am wearing boots etc that I wasn't a fortnight ago when the scales read a couple of pounds lower. So I haven't made the Valentine's challenge either but congratulations to those who have.
Breakfast: Muesli, skimmed milk and raisins. Pineapple juice.
Lunch: Chicken leg. Coke
Tea:Chicken casserole with leeks, celery, carrots, turnip, parsnip, onions and mushrooms in it. Mashed potato. Orange.
I can see it is going to be a busy week, maybe I'll be too busy to eat between meals.

Evening ladies :hello:
OH has just talked my socks off about his job, hopefully this one will work out for him but once again he have to survive a month on 2 weeks pay - I say he as I have a contingency plan..........;) He starts properly on Monday so at least he will be here this weekend when the kids are here  It will be a testing time for me as I'll have goodies in the house i.e. crisps ......I'll buy meaty flavoured ones I think and biscuits I don't like.
MrsM - It is like his first day at school, I half expected him to throw a hissy fit and say he wasn't going back
I've had egg, SW chips and beans for tea, I would have liked a slice of B&B with them but decided against it, I will have a yoghurt and a couple of fruity ryvitas in a bit.
I've found a pedometer in Argos for £2 so will buy a new one at the weekend:j Lots of walking next week as I'm back on the train :rolleyes2
Taplady - I hope you've got a nice (non food) treat planned for getting to target :T
See you tomorrow guys :A
