    Afternoon all

thought i would pop by before i go and get a bath - i have been in the garden nearly all day so "mucky" isn't quite the word :D .... got loads done... the potio apotment is coming along swimmingly :j ..have planted up more peas today, potted out some tomatoes, moved the baby salad leaves and chard.... so i now have more troughs available for the extra peas i have just set  ... im gonna be amazed if i have enough room for everything -but that isn't stopping me setting more :rotfl:
The 2 tents are now empty.. so 1 is going to be home for the melons when they go out and the other i think is for the peppers, chillies to keep them nice and humid :D ..i have had to keep coming in for a cold drink as it has been sooooooo hot  its been like having a blowtorch on the back of my head all day :p

Today i have eaten....mmmmm not a lot :o have been that busy i forget about food :j ... oooh thats it ..i have had a HM sausage roll..which wasn't too bad as its hm sausage with hardly any fat and i cook them before wrapping in pastry so the fat drains away ;) ohh and i have had an orange :D .but im having meatballs with caramalised veg in tortilla with a huge salad for dinner tonight ...

Keiss... what a shocker about the scales  thats enough to send anyone over the edge isn't it

well i guess i had better go and scrub my mucky self..anyone got a brillo ? :rotfl:
hope we are all having a great day..keep at it folks :D

  • Afternoon all!

Minging in May here too Kentish Maid, I'm doing an excellent job of putting last week's 3lb loss straight back on! Knew I'd be doing a lot of eating this weekend so I was going to be extra good in the week to compensate, but, well..... I wasn't:o . Anyway, the truth will out when I get on the scales in the morning.

Thoroughly enjoyed last night's meal out - I'll just say that after a starter, main, half a pud and umpteen glasses of wine the "roomy waistband" I'd started the evening in was cutting off my circulation by the time I got home!

The weather's looking decidedly iffy here but warm so friend's bbq is going ahead later on..... more food!!!

Keiss, hope you're feeling better soon. I had the same shock when I replaced my ancient scales, put 7 pounds on in seconds (on the new accurate ones!)..... daft thing is, I actually felt 7 pounds heavier too!

Marie, enjoy your hols and all that lovely Irish cooking - you can make up for it when you get back home.

I'll be back tomorrow to report this week's damage....

    Hi all,

Weather is crappy here today so I am pottering around and doing some batch cooking (pasta sauce, sweet potato mash, soup) but I feel a bit ropey today, still have a lingering cold that I can't shift.

Anyway, last night was really good, I only ate the piece of bannoffi pie I had 'budgeted' for and didn't feel over full.

B: Wholemeal toast with cottage cheese and vine tomatoes
L: HM broccoli soup with 1 slice dry wholemeal bread
    D: HM lasagne with salad
    S: Regular size bag Malteasers

I might do some baking later if I feel up to it as I have apile of eggs to use up.
  • Hello everyone - hope you are enjoying the weekend. It's pouring down here and we had thunder this morning so I'm jealous of those of you who are having nice sunshine.

Keiss - bummer about the scales but don't let it get you down too much - it's only a number and you are doing the right thing by eating sensibly so you will soon be a "teenager" again IYKWIM.

I have had a blummin awful couple of days with DD1 - so much so that I feel shattered and have awful windy crampy indigestion, which I am sure is not helped by the stress (I have gallstones and IBS). Without boring you all tooooo much, she went to town and took my credit card (she knows the pin as she's seen me using it loads and I've never thought I had to keep it a secret from her) and bought £142 worth of stuff from Next, £125 dress and bag in Monsoon and bits and bobs from Boots, accessorize and the like. She was crafty too as she went to her bf's from the shops and took all the tags off so I can't take the stuff back. Then she said she would pay me back £10 a week (which I will take off her). Yesterday I had a letter from her school saying that as she has less than 90% attendance I have to pay for all her AS level exams (about £200 in total) Anyway earlier on today she was going out to bf's and then on to and 18th party and asked me if I would give her a lift. As I was going to Costco and bf's was on the way I said yes. When she finally appeared to get in the car she looked a sight in a too tight dress which was so low cut you could see all of her substantial bust - talk about Nell Gwynn! Plus there were fading love bites all on show so I lost it a bit and said she had to get changed. Upshot was she called me a nasty f***ing, bitter old b**ch and stormed off saying she might or might not be in later. I was really upset and feel like I have raised a bully. Oh well, sorry for going off topic with this but I don't have anyone to talk to about it other than her Dad and he is even more distraught at her behaviour than I am. Usually this would lead me to a giant binge but so far I have managed to just to to Costco and buy some of those giant californian strawberries and a pair of crocs shoes. The crocs don't look pretty but they are sooooo comfy and will do me when I want to go walking. I've also heard that they help with swollen ankles so that would be a plus too!

Food today has been a brunch of bacon steak, lf sausage, scrambled egg and grilled tomatoes, with a small slice of dry bread and dinner is Chicken Romanoff (chicken fillets soaked in buttermilk and then rolled in hm breadcrumbs mixed with herbs, salt and pepper and parmesan cheese, with salad.

Sorry to have gone on a bit!

You wouldn't recoup the full cost Jane, but could you get the stuff back from her somehow and ebay it? If it's current you might be able to get quite a bit back.

I think first you should try taking the things back to the shops with the receipts - child in tow - explain what has happened and see if they will give you a refund. I think you may find that they do not always insist on the tags.

    Good luck

    Hi recovering

Well done on not giving into food :T

 about your daughter... im sorry but i would have called the police..its theft no matter how she dresses it up... in fact for me its worse as its here lovely mum she stole off..... don't forget to change your pin...then if she takes it again see what happens
and the "i may or may be home later" would have got the response "and i may or may not let you in";)
and i wouldn't be paying for her exams either... she could leave school with zilch..and find out what life is like in a dead end job... im sure in a couple of years she would get her act together...

Don't blame yourself -You haven't raised a bully... but she has chosen to turn into one... hopefully one day soon she wil meet her match and find out what its like to be on the receiving end..and im sure she would come running to you quick smart...

Anyhow... please feel free to ignore my response -im sure folks must think im a hard nosed cow :p ..

But the top and bottom of it is..keep looking after yourself and treat yourself like you have done today :T some lovely treats that make you feel better not worse ..food is great until you have swallowed it then you feel worse..some nice comfy shoes and a bit of fruit are a lovely treat :T
sending you hugs..and keep strong ;)

Well, I haven't really eaten perfectly over the last couple of days. I think I said I was feeling down about it and finding it a struggle. I was just starting to feel that a few grams were departing from my body, when the weekend was upon us. I feel as if I've done nothing but eat for the last 30 hours. It wasn't all bad, but I feel remarkably full on what didn't really seem to be a huge amount of food.

    Saturday was
    Porridge for brekkie,
Lunch was Leek and potato soup, hm focaccia bread, friend had also brought ginger cake and brownies, had a small piece of each, would have seemed rude not to!
DInner, I made tortillas, turkey strips, refried beans, guacomole etc. Pud was nutella cake. I cut it into 16 (we were 13 people) so didnt' have a bit bit of that.

Today, Brekkie was a bowl of yogurt, chopped pear, sprinkle of granola
Coffee out and had small capuccino and one mouthful of communal brownie (rubbish compared to the ones that friend brought with her.) and a Thornton's choc (that's where we were) but that was a disappointment.

Lunch was HM meatballs, pasta and salad. Cake to follow, had a half brownie, plus another very small half. Don't think I will want anythingelse tonight.

Feel rather stuffed right now. really thirsty too. DH and ds watching Dr Who. I'm just chillingout. Thinking of how I'm going to make the rest of the grocerrry budget last until the end of the month AND give me the healthy foods that I want to eat. WIll have to give this some consideration. I'm finding it easier to eat more salads etc now the weather is warmer.

  • Thanks for the kind words - I don't think you are a hard nosed cow Mrs M - I wish I could be a bit more hard hearted with her but the fact is that I am not terribly assertive and I do let her bully me to some extent. I have this thing where I hate falling out with ANYBODY and I always capitulate, no matter what the issue - I think it is all to do with my attitude to food too - I eat to dampen down feelings of frustration with myself because I know I should be more assertive.

I made DD2's tea - she had the chicken romanoff and salad and I did her some garlic bread. I had a tiny bit of the chicken romanoff and didn't fancy it so I put it in the fridge for tomorrow and am just boiling myself some jersey royals - I got a lb of them in Sainsburys yesterday (for £3:eek: ) I love them soooo much though so I have put half in the pan and will have them just by themselves with some strawberries and Onken yoghurt after. I got a big pot of Onken vanilla in Costco before - its not diet but the calories aren't bad and it is really yummy.

On the subject of jersey royals, the last couple of years I don't think they have been as nice - has anyone else found this?
