Taplady - I live in Telford for my sins (hope I haven't just offended anyone that lives in Telford:o) I'd rather live in your bit of Shropshire. Telford's not so bad I suppose, at least I've got the lovely Shropshire countryside on my doorstep:D

we come to Telford shopping occasionally and you have beautiful places like Ironbridge not far away. We are having a night away in Telford in November to go to the Pigeon show at the international centre combined with some christmas shopping.
I am right on the shropshire, Herefordshire, worcestershire border.

MrsM ~ All is well on the pond except the pond pump has broken and the water is going all brown  Mr Frog has bodged it temporarily but it really needs a whole new pump ~ more money

Well done on your loss cheerfullness :T

Hope things are ok over the weekend Tappy, keep your chin up matey :A I've been to Ironbridge ~ School trip 1984 :D

Nice that we are all possitive about the may challenge. Think I'll go for 1 stone. I know that will sound alot for some of you but at the begining of a "healthy eating choice stint" I loose alot. Also it comes off quick when your this big  THink I'll try to get to 17 Something ;)

Right, hopping off to clean up the pad and walk the hounds. Have a GREAT day buddies :j

I know I'm lucky to be near beautiful places like Ironbridge:D I do love Shropshire as a county. This afternoon I am going on a Wild Garlic Ramble in Coalbrookdale organised by the Greenwood centre. Two and a half hours walking (good free exercise), collecting wild garlic (free food!) and then they give you recipes to make the best use of said wild garlic - a very OS afternoon me thinks! And the sun has just come out too - lovely jubbly!

    Morning all!

Very pleased this morning as I have lost 2lb even though its TOTM soon.

Secret eating is something that has plagued me for longer than I can remember but I will tell you a funny story about it.
One night after thinking about Galaxy ripple bars all day I cracked and drove to the supermarket and bought a family pack to scoff. As the demons took over, I tore open the pack in my parked car and started chomping like there was no tomorrow when I was suddenly aware of someone sitting in the car parked next to me. I looked over and there was a woman ramming mini scotch eggs into her mouth to the point where she was almost gagging. We looked at each other with a knowing smile then both burst out laughing :rotfl:

Nice to know you're not alone eh?

Anyway, today is my treat day so I will have a light brunch then an evening meal with pudding:

B: wholemeal toast with cottage cheese, vine tomatoes and black pepper
D: chick pea curry with rice and some banoffee pie :p

Have a great bank holiday everyone :T

:j I managed a walk with Pup yesterday! I've been looking at those nordic walking poles that have appeared everywhere & wondering if one would help me stay upright:o As in stop stumbling....not as in crawling home from a public hostelry:naughty: ...when my knees & other associated joints are misbehaving. Any views folks?

I'm about to venture out now with Pup, No1 offspring & the Iggie:D Not that she--iggie--will do much walking; crafty little minx learned a long time ago that she can climb up onto your shoulder/head & get a 'piggy-back':rotfl:

Taplady, I'm so sorry about your pooch...before we had Iggie, I did wonder about the mentality around people & their pets, but they do settle into your heart for evermore don't they:o Over on the Pets thread, someone says pets go to chase the rainbows.....I like that image.....

Your peach & blackberry sponge sounds  RS, care to share the recipe? Two-uvem won't go near crumble, so this could make an acceptable dessert for all four of us. Is it like a pineapple upside down, where you put the fruit on the bottom & just bung a 2-2-4 sponge mix on top?

Must remember to get some bramleys when I go out in a minute..me muvva is over for lunch tomorrow so it's a roast & apple pie for pud.

Have a good weekend & hope the weather stays reasonable where-ever you are.

    Morning all :hello:

HUGE LOSS CONGRATS TO Cheerfulness and Floyd, blooming marvelous :T . Also pats on the backs for you who've STS, that's a concept I've never quite mastered, its either up or down, usually up :o .

Oh Taplady, a big hug from me. At her present rate of decline I don't think 'her ancientness' will be with us much longer and it breaks my heart. GSD's seldom get beyond 12yrs and both she and my 'great protector' (10 this year) are getting horribly close.

Went on a scouting mission for compost etc yesterday but the town was heaving (Victorian Extravaganza weekend) so just compared prices and scuttled home again. DH said he'd come with me in the evening. Boy did he look rough when he got home so combined compost fetching with medicine buying. Poor soul has sneezed and coughed for 2 weeks now and plans on spending this weekend in bed being 'feeble' as he puts it. I had planned to move into DS2's room as it's empty so DH needn't worry about disturbing me, but unannounced DS arrived home last night for the weekend, so think it might be a mattress on the lounge floor for me tonight:confused: . Don't know if it's lucky or not but DS2 has also have the lurgy and is still coughing, you should have hear it this morning, a chorus of coughing from 3 seperate bedrooms. I must not catch it.....I must not catch it!!!!!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend, though I don't hold out much hope for mine :( . On the bright side though can now plant peas and repot the ever growing tomatoes inbetween tending to the sick :T .

  • Hello everyone - congratulations to Cheerfulness and Floyd on great losses and to all who STS. I STS this week - didn't want to get weighed but am glad I did now. I deserved to STS after what I ate earlier this week before I started the MiM challenge.

BigmummF - I make the sponge without fat - it's:
    1tbs plain flour
    3/4 cup cornflour
    1.5 tsps baking powder
    4 eggs, separated
    pinch salt
    3/4 cup caster sugar

You just whisk the egg whites with the salt until stiff, beat in the sugar and then beat in the yolks one at a time - the mixture will lose volume but it should go to a thick creamy consistency. Sieve flour, cornflour and baking powder and fold into egg mixture. Drain a tin of peach slices in juice and a tin of blackberries in juice and put the fruit in the bottom of a greased pyrex dish, pour over the sponge and bake at 190 until risen and firm. Takes about 20 minutes. You can use any fruit you like but I like the peach one. I have it with custard made with skimmed milk and custard powder and sugar (although in the past I used sweetner before I gave it up).

I didn't have time for any breakfast but am hungry now, so am waiting for some pasta to cook, to which I will add some hm roasted tomatoes and baby spinach and parmesan.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

    Hi All,

Well done Cheerfulness and Floyd on your weight losses. It's a wonderful feeling isn't it. Sorry to hear about your sad loss Taplady

I am feeling great at the moment. I am getting loads of exercise, eating about 9 or 10 fruit and veg every day (rather than my more usual 5 a day) and generally getting loads done.

Yesterday I went out for a walk with a friend and her dog and we were out for 2 and 3/4 hours. I then did my walk around the block in the evening too and reckon I must have done over 20,000 steps. I've already nipped to the shops and Post Office this morning and am about to go for a proper walk shortly - after I have given the kitchen floor a good scrub!! Normally, I do the washing and cooking whilst OH does the washing up and cleaning. However, he has 4 days work this week so I felt I ought to make a contribution to the housework front for a change. He won't be home till 9pm tonight so will be tired when he gets in.

I've got loads of other things I want to do too today, but may not get them all fitted in. It partly depends on whether one of my friends calls round and collects me to go shopping with her whilst her daughter goes for a dancing class. It is on the cards but not definite yet.

B: The usual muesli with fruit and fibre (one small handful of each) with raisins and skimmed milk. Raspberry and cranberry juice.
L: Poached egg on slice of wholemeal toast. Banana
D: Cauliflower cheese. Raspberry yoghurt (frozen as it takes so much longer to eat and tastes like icecream)
Snack: Small chocolate biscuit with my coffee.

    Have a great weekend everyone.

    Hello folks:hello:

Taplady - (((((((hugs))))))) Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Well done to all the losers :T

I'll confess to a humungus binge last night.................bread, cheese, nuts and scones were involved plus a few glasses of wine :o as a result I feel yukky today:o

I had fruit and yoghurt for brekkie and have had couscous, roasted veg and salad for lunch. I'm going to do stuffed mushrooms for tea.

I'm frantically trying to get the bl**dy decorating finished  and am only on here while I wait for the plaster to dry. I'm hoping to undercoat this afternoon then topcoat in the morning then hopefully get the house put back together.....

On the chocolate debate, I'm a dark choc lover, green and blacks is yum!!!!!

Hopefully see you tomorrow ladies, but the puter has a new home and I still have to build it......good job I have an honours degree from MFI in self assembly furniture.......:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
