Hi, I just popped on quickly to say Cheerfulness for someone that was frightened of weighing less than 20 stone you are fantastic! And I know you you can achieve your challange:A
I was also wondering where Jane had got to..... come on lady
Meaniemarie , mrsm is right , as mothers and nuturers there is no way we would feed our offspring the kind of carp we allow ourselves to eat- it would be child abuse!! Look after yourself like you were one of yours, you are worth it;)
Pauliesgirl- adding walnut oil to my shopping list
And Mrsm I have a confession, my first attempt at making homemade bread without a BM and with fresh yeast was a disaster- I'm way to embarrassed to tell you what went wrong.... lets just say intelligent grown women should really read your instructions properly:o hoping to report a nice edible loaf soon:rotfl:0 -
Saversarn thank you. You made my day.
I know its only being on this thread and the support from all you lovely lot that has kept me strong and not feeling defeated again so a big THANK YOU to you all. :T
And MRSMC - as everyone says, your example has motivated us all to keep trying even when we get the wobbles and wonder if we're going to make it. I never thought I could lose weight, healthily feed myself and my family and really slash my budget but I have and its through the help of all the recipes and tips from here.
Oh now I'm not so bothered it was just a teeny loss, I'm a happy bunny all over again.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Who needs 'weights' MrsM. If you carry that lot home from the shops your arms will be well toned"!
I don't seem to be reading this thread much at the mo... not really eating properly at the moment, not got much appetite, but then I'm doing bu@@er-all at the moment anyway, I went upstairs once in the day yesterday. Had a shower then needed a lie down to recover!
Have managed breakfast each day. Granola when I couldn't be bothered, have made some porridge this morning which I actually enjoyed.
Had the smallest of jacket potatoes (everyone else got to them first!) for tea last night with a bit of grated cheese and some branston, had a Muller crunch corner. I thought it was really revolting and won't be eating those again. Must find a dollop of hm jam to go on my nat yoghurt later. i'm shying away from 'diet' food really, but find it hard to go steady on non diet stuff... LOL that's why I'm here!
Family is having Indian takeaway tonight in place of the meal out for dh's birthday, which I'm not fit for, so have cancelled. MIL was going too...and paying. Takeaway will not be MS, but will suit me fine as I don't need to do anything.
As soon as I feel better, I think I need to get a bit more purpose to my weight loss efforts and set myself a proper goal, rather than just hoping for the best, I need to know how much I've lost in numbers I think. I thought that a looser fit would be OK, but decided now that it isn't. Need to get scales for that:eek: ... moment of truth... maybe that's what I've been afraid of. Am almost off medication now."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Hi all
Just worked out for 20 minutes of the new Davina DVD but had to stop because I had run out of energy(fuel) since my breakfast was nearly 4 hours ago. So I had a good excuse to go and cook.
The DVD is ok as a workout but the woman goes on my nerves in an impossible way. Luckily it is another woman, her trainer, who does most of the talking etc.... but just looking at that stupid Davina pulling faces it sort of puts me off - if I can overcome that, it is a good DVD, very comprehensive and not at all boring. Shame that the music is played so softly in the background and you can hardly hear it at all! In the gym where I go it is the opposite, the music is TOO loud! There should be a happy medium (or maybe it is me who's a perennial Moany Minnie and never content with anything!).
Anwyay, here's the food so far:
Breakfast: 1 small slice toast with 1 oz smoked salmon, 1 small slice toast with 1 tsp jam, 1 orange.
Lunch: Lettuce and tomato salad with 1/2 tbsp olive oil, pasta and chickpeas soup with tinned tomato, onion and WILD GARLIC!!! I love the stuff, it came free in my organic veg box this week, wonderful! Tbsp of grated parmesan on top. Fruit yogurt (low fat but sugar-laden!).
Planned dinner: eating at my friend's, having a casserole as later we are all going to a quiz night where fish and chips is the only option, I would have had it but for the fact that the other day I had curry instead of Wagamama boring noodle soup, so today I am aiming to stay good. My friend's casseroles are veggie and usually very healthy and low fat, so I am not worried about syns or calories content.
Hope you are all well,
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Oh a huge congrats to everyone who's lost this week:T :T :T , and a big hug of encouragement for those who haven't. I haven't a clue if I've lost anything this month but have set myself a 'break through another stone' target for the month. So fingers and everything else crossed.
MRSM I too have the Jamie at Home book and am itching to have a go. The new herb bed is a direct result of watching him and looking through his book. The gardening tips are very useful too. I've copied several of your recipies to try, and am wondering when your cookery book will be out????
Yesterday had another bridal fitting day with DD. The more we see the more confused she gets. Loved a gown but not sure whether "does it make my bum look big" or not. Oh to have a bum her size :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . Finally got home a 3pm, so had late lunch of cheese with red onion on toast, and fruit and yogurt for pud. Not very hungry for tea so had Admirals Pie and didn't dare look at the ingredients:o .
So happy to have joined the DITCH THE DIET PRODUCTS REVOLUTION and as a very slow eater who does chew alot I seem to be doing the right thing for once in my life. It was so embarressing last year though, at a Christmas party when everyone had finished and the waiter was hovering. I ended up not enjoying it cause I had to rush. I must say I do enjoy the 'Diets that time forgot'. I had thought it might be a bit naff but so much is about sensible diet and exercise and self control. (Not one of my strongest points)
DH due home from work any time now so better give the impression I haven't been sitting here enjoying myself reading all your posts for half the morning.
I hope you're soon fully back on your feet purpleivy. Scales can be helpful as I've been amazed to have lost anything when I don't feel any different. Just don't let them rule your life, once a month is enough for me.
Have a great weekend all, and enjoy all your healthy munchings :A ."It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
Finally managed to log after last nights meal out with OH. I was bit worse for wear earlier on
.
The meal was lovely and I could have been a lot naughtier. Mussels to start and steak for main. I was full when it was dessert time so I didn't bother :A:. The downsides were the gorgeous bread and oil/balsamic dip oh, and the 2 bottles of wine we shared:rotfl:.
This morning I wanted a comforting 2 slices of toast and jam. A had an apple, pear and tangerine for an early lunch to try to restore some of the vitamin C lost from too much wine and I've just had a bit of pasta/tom sauce to keep me going until later. Dinner will be eggs and bacon as we have loads of eggs to eat up before they go out of date.
Well done to all the losers :j .0 -
Hi All
Just a short post as we are hoping to get out for a walk between showers. It has been pouring down all morning but DD and I did manage a quick walk on the beach last night after our eveniing meal. She and I have spent the morning non-stop talking, playing Scrabble and talking to DS on MSN.
B: Muesli etc. Fruit juice.
L: HM carrot soup. Home baked bread roll with HM chicken liver pate.Pasta with bacon, onions and cheese. Rasberry yoghurt.
Snacks: Banana, orange.
Well done on the weight loss Cheerfulness. I seem to be slightly heavier than I was yesterday but am hoping it is TOTM that is causing it.
Have a good weekend all.
