I'd like to join in. I've probably got about 4 stones to lose at least, but looking at 1 stone at a time. I've lost 6.5 lbs rather slowly over the past 6 weeks. I think I may have just had a weight loss lightbulb moment. Like a lot of you, I'm giving up low fat rubbish and eating normal foods, just a lot less of itAs a spending diary has really helped me over the past 6 months, I've added a food diary and steps count. Today I've had:
Porridge
Ham and salad buttie on wholemeal bread, banana and yoghurt
Pizza (bit naughty, but it was an M&S COU one in the freezer)
2 rich tea biscuits.
I'll probably have another 2 rich teas later on, after the football.
MrsM - DD fancies making your tortillas for tea tomorrow. Do you have any idea how many calories are in them?
6.5 lb is good... a pound a week is about 4 stone in a year!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

When I was in Germany last time I treated myself to the authority on baking "Backen" . Could have a look in there! you can look inside on Amazon, but they don't show any of the fab pictures!

Oh, I never thought about it like thatIts because I've been messing about and feel I should have lost much more. Lost 4 lbs, lost 1 lb, put on 0.5 lb, put on 1.5 lb, lost 1.5 lb, lost 2.5 lbs.
Thank for that purpleivy, you've cheered me up0 -
Hi there here is the recipe
CHEWY SOFT FLOUR TORTILLA
2 CUPS PLAIN FLOUR about 240g
1 ½ TSP BAKING POWDER
1TSP SALT
2TSP VEG OIL
¾ CUP WARM MILK -180ml
Sift flour and baking powder into a bowl
Whisk milk, oil and salt
Pour into flour -stirring to mix
Once mixed -turned out onto a lightly floured worktop and knead for 2 mins
Cover and leave for 15 mins -it won’t rise but needs to relax
Cut into 8 balls (approx 50g each)
Cover and leave to relax for 10 mins
Roll each one out into a round -approx 8”
Heat a heavy frying pan (preferably cast iron)
Drop in one tortilla and turn after about 2 mins -the surface should bubble -press down with a teatowel (watch you don't steam your fingers )
Place inside a dry tea towel to keep warm whilst you cook the rest
You can freeze the balls of dough -but they will be a little stickier once defrosted -but as a bonus they roll out bigger too
Just a note... if you use weight not cups a lot of people have said that their cups hold 150g of flour...we think my german flour must be lighter..well i know its softer... so you may want to use 300g
Note sure of the cals as i don't countbut i will have a look on a site and try and work them out...back soon-hopefully
Ok.... worked it out roughly we have (well with my workings out):-
300g flour 900cals
2tbs oil 240cals
skimmed milk 60 cals......
total 1200 cals..... so about 150cals each
In some ways that is better than i would have thought..I only have 1 at a time so rather good me thinks-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

I'm glad about that... cos when I think of it it really p*$$£s me off! I figure if only I'd got my act together and had a bit of self discipline, I'd lose the b£**dy weight and get on with my life!
Checked in with my emails fro work today, haven't been there since Monday. The sports dept (nice tutor) is starting an aerobics class during one of my timetable gaps on a Tuesday. In many ways it would be very good for me, but I'm making excuses to myself.
Excuse: I have a class at 1.15.....Problem: The class runs from 12.30-1.15pm. so I should excuse myself 5 mins early and just arrive scarlet in class.
Excuse: I don't have the right clothes....well I've got some good shoes, which is what matters.
I'm sooooo unfit....... well, that's the whole point of it!
The next one is much more sensitive and is a real issue. I've been wearing a wig for 2 1/2 years now and not done any classes, swimming or anything like that since I got it. I do get so very hot with my wig and not sure I'm willing to go without it at college.
The way I'm coughing at the moment I won't be able to do it anyway, temperature is up again. I can make it backwards and forwards to the kitchen, 2 floors up to bedroom and I'm coughing badly again.
Aaahh well, not an immediate decision to make I guess!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

More or less how I do it MrsM. Just to say, you do need to keep under the teatowel or wrapped in a plastic bag to stop them going like cornflakes packets!!!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I love the way our 'weight loss' thread discourages diet products
What rebels:D let's be honest if they did work we'd all be thin as rakes.
:rotfl:lets just hope we all remember to have less of the real full fat stuff than we did of the diet stuff !:D
DH used to work in the soft drinks industry years ago and some of the food colourings used to say on the box not to discard it near water as it could harm the wildlife! they also used to put in aspartame - and if you breathed it in it was vile stuff that made you feel ill! He's never eaten sweetners or diet stuff since then so is right behind us in our rebellion!:j
I've been shopping and got my real butter - had to search out the butter dish as he wont have anything spreadable either!
Out of interest my IBS has not played up at all tonight which is when its usually at its worst!
Good luck tomorrow MRSM with your weigh in!;) (we definitely need a fingers crossed smilie as someone suggested the other day!:D )Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Thankyou taplady
I have managed to eat less of the yummy full fat stuff for the last 9 months...so it is do-able and much more satisfying :j-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50
