Evening ladies
Do i see the start of a rebellion :rotfl: .... way back when women burned their bras... now we are banishing "diet foods" :j .... taplady ... butter on toast nomnomnom... A pack lasts about 2 weeks in this house which i think is rather good -considering hubby likes his cheese n onions sandwiches and toast.... I really do find that we use far less than we would if it was that godawful stuff that turns to water when you put it near toast
Plus of course most "normal" products are much cheaper than "diet" stuff :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
I love the way our 'weight loss' thread discourages diet products
What rebels:D let's be honest if they did work we'd all be thin as rakes.0 -
Interesting, and I agree. When I said I was doing modified South Beach, that's exactly the modification I make. SB proper, like most 'diets' (or WOEs) is strictly low fat. I don't do that bit. I eat the fat on chicken if it's been roasted. I don't measure the olive oil. I have butter on food if I want (though if not eating bread, potatoes & pasta, that's not so often). If I don't want sugar, I don't have sweet food. Last time round, I lost 3 stone in 6 months, and didn't even reduce the alcohol!!!!! The fat on a chicken leg, a bit of duck fat for roasting veg or in a proper yoghurt is a minor factor in the daily diet, but it adds delight and a feeling of roundness/fullness in the mouth you never have with the substitutes.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

Evening all,
Delighted to see the rebellion in full swing...can't handle 'pretend' butter or sugar substitutes, before I heard about all the additives.
Not been very good...yesterday I had some more bread with gooseberry jam ( found a pot the other day and it is lovely!) but seem to be drawing a line under every day now!
Today I have eaten:
Last night's leftover pasta with bacon and herbs;
Egg salad sandwich;
Bacon and liver with onions and broccoli and home made hash browns...fried with very little oil over low heat until crusty brown
Good luck to all

I'm a total piggy because I remembered you saying that 2 was a bit much for you so after my first one I had a very quick assessment  and ruled that I was lucky as I obviously needed two.Hmmmm, am totally stuffed 15 mins later
so I'm guessing I'm a 'one only' girl too.
Can't wait to show off my new found skill to the lads later. DS2 has put in an order for a jam one. I just know that DS1 will love them with curry in and chilli chicken. I can totally understand why you and OH have them often. Love it when I find something new to dish them up. :j
Okay, over excited and over full so I'd best try and walk it off doing a tidy up in the kitchen. Don't feel like I could eat for a week.
Catch up with you all later.
I too wondered why I waited so long to make tortillas. I try and do them on a Saturday lunch time when ds is there to griddle as I roll. We like them with a touch of herb and garlic in them, but not sure that would suit the jam-faces. Actually, I'm not really a fan of tortillas at all, but the kids love them and I like the fact that I'm giving them something that they really enjoy that is a fraction of the shop price AND is very OS, fresh and budget."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Ooooh Mrs M, I love baking with malt in it. I looked for a malt loaf recipe a while ago (Ithink it was on here) and there were all kinds of loaf, but none with malt in them!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

i also read that in the mcdonalds in egypt, you can actually buy a McFalafel!! although i aint sure if thats just a wind up!!!
I'm sure it is true! Whenever we go somewhere foreign we always have a look at McDonalds to see what there "McLocal" is. I remember that Holland had a McCroquette (sp?) and Jordan had a Mc Arabian Nights:rotfl:My name is Paula and I am a low carber1/6/08-83kg : 1/5/10-57kg

Evening everyone
Welcome to HelenYorkshire :hello:
Well i`ve not done badly today as i`ve been making up for last night, DH came home with a small bar of choccy and a bag of doritos and also a huge bag of mcoys which we shared in front of a dvd.
I`ll bet one of those pounds i lost is back now so i`m not going anywhere near the scales for a couple of days at least
Todays meals were
BF pate on toast
Lunch 2 hobnobs
Dinner Chicken stir fry with jacket potato & cottage cheese
Tomorrow i have no idea whats for bf & lunch yet but Dinner will be spicy wedges and salami omelette YUM! i`m looking forward to that already.
Rose Wood - draw a line under it and start again, it is only a couple of pounds and it`ll soon come back off - bet i`ll be having loads of this happening to me cos i can only be good for so long where foods concerned
I`m back on the full fat everything now, just eating less of it so hopefully that will be ok, i figure once my body adjusts i`ll feel better, the main change for me is back to butter but i`ve been using block stork for baking so i`ll have a read on the packaging when i got to the supermarket and see whats in it.
Caterina - i emailled my dad the link to the page about splenda yesterday and i haven`t spoken to him yet, i`ll probably have to ring him to get him to check his emailsI`ll be taking him shopping at the weekend so i`ll keep a careful eye on his trolley. Thanks once again - makes horrifying reading dosen`t it
Off out to walk the houndies now.
Hope everyone does well with the weigh ins
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Hello
I'd like to join in. I've probably got about 4 stones to lose at least, but looking at 1 stone at a time. I've lost 6.5 lbs rather slowly over the past 6 weeks. I think I may have just had a weight loss lightbulb moment. Like a lot of you, I'm giving up low fat rubbish and eating normal foods, just a lot less of itAs a spending diary has really helped me over the past 6 months, I've added a food diary and steps count. Today I've had:
Porridge
Ham and salad buttie on wholemeal bread, banana and yoghurt
Pizza (bit naughty, but it was an M&S COU one in the freezer)
2 rich tea biscuits.
I'll probably have another 2 rich teas later on, after the football.
MrsM - DD fancies making your tortillas for tea tomorrow. Do you have any idea how many calories are in them?0
