Just managed to catch up with all the posts. I hope everyone who's been feeling under the weather are now fully recovered, big congrats to all you who have lost weight, and lots of encouragement to those who haven't...yet!!
 is all I have to say re Splenda. I switched after hearing about Aspartame a while back. Drat I'll now have to forego a nice sweet cuppa, but I will have a nice big feeble (I like it weak) coffee after tea with 1/2 a spoon of sugar. I always buy the non diet yogurts as they taste so much better and salad cream. I've even switched back to butter from low fat marg after reading the 101 different things added to it.
Yesterday was a beautiful day here and I spent all day in the garden, (after depositing DH's vehicle in its second home, the garage for repairs, and walking dogs) digging for victory:j . The potatoes, onions, garlic and parsnips are now in. I made the timber shuttering for the new herb bed (promised weeks ago by DH), manured it and planted 8 different herbs. I came in somewhat creaking but very happy:T . And to finish a lovely day I noticed the tadpoles are now everywhere in the pond!
Foodwise I had: oatabix with banana, grapes, organic yogurt & Almonds with milk. Fruit Juice
Lunch: Poached egg on Rye bread, mixed summer fruit with organic yogurt
Tea: Large salad with 1/4 Quiche Lorraine, 2 pieces of potato, & 3 slices of garlic ciabatta (I love it and would rather that than chocolate, never thought I'd ever say that:rotfl: )
No snacks as too busy in garden.
Today I've still got all dogs to walk as DH didn't fancy getting wet, so will probably not get out in the garden today.
Usual Breakfast, salad for lunch with summerfruits and yogurt.
Tea maybe Jacket potato with baked beans and haddock but not certain.
Take care everyone, you all make my day. Still giggle at the image of trying to chip bits off the frozen yogurt a few days ago:rotfl: ."It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are." Unknown0 -
Hi guys,
I was a member of this thread a little while ago now and thought I would check in and let you know what happened!
Basically I decided things werent quite right, lots of niggles with my health and finding losing weight difficult. I decided to see a nutritionist which was £45 and lasted about 2 hours. Basically she went through my life history in respects of health and of diet in some respects too. I gave her a food diary and we discussed my normal diet and current health issues.
I got a lot of information and she wrote down a lot of stuff when I talked.
The outcome was she identified a few physical problems that were typical of certain mineral and omega oil definiciencies going all the way back to childhood in their pattern. She recommended I at a low diary diet so no milk or cheese and low sugar as there are lots of blood sugar issues underlying everything for me and my family. Ive also got problems with my gallbladder which explains sensitivity to alliums (onion, garlic, leek etc).
Now I know many would see this as rubbish but it has done me a world of good! Im feeling like I have more energy and ive tried lots of things that I never would have though of before. As an added bonus ive lost weight! I dont weigh myself so I cant say how much but ive lost my belly and things feel much looser and im only 3 weeks in. Basically im following the GI principle in many respects whilst cutting out cheese and milk and cutting down on alliums where they aggravate.
I plan to make this a lifetime change and not just a fad diet as my goal was to find the things that aggravate and avoid them. I would recommend this to anyone who feels their health may benefit from an assessment and who would like to understand more as to how thier body works.0 -

Might have to have some falafels too as there's a can of chickpeas that never made it into hummus (I bought some caramelised onion one instead)

Who wanted a falafel recipe? This one's free on SW and is lovely!Falafel
8oz dried chickpeas soaked for at least 48 hours (or use a tin)
1 onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic crushed
1 level tsp cumin
1 level tsp ground coriander
1 small red chilli deseeded and finely chopped
1 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
2 tbsp chopped parsley
¼ tsp baking powder
Salt & freshly ground black pepper
Frylight for spraying
If using dried chickpeas drain and rinse well or drain and rinse tinned.
Put the drained chickpeas in a processor with the onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, chilli and herbs and process until smooth.
Stir in the baking powder and seasoning.
Transfer to a bowl and chill for an hour.
Take small pieces and shape into balls then flatten slightly.
Place on a tray sprayed with frylight and bake in a pre-heated oven at 2200C Gas mark 7 for 12-15 minutes until crisp and golden.
A bowl of low fat yoghurt flavoured with fresh mint and chopped chilli makes a good dip to go with them.
Not a brilliant day yesterday, I had a migraine so had a bag of crisps and 2 biscuits to satisfy the carb craving. I did go dancing (managed to avoid the PITA) so burned off loads of calories
Made egg, SW chips and beans when I got in and had a couple of yoghurts - need to find some without aspartame now that are ok on SW
I've got my WI tonight.......thiink I'll be happy to stay the same this week!
Bus, busy, busy today so might not see you until tonight!:A
thank you very much, i will give this one a go although its pretty much the same as the ainsley one i followed that fell apart  (unless it was my cooking, but fingers crossed for this one!!!
Please be nice to all moneysavers!

Afternoon all
Just got in from the garden and realised i have posted those recipes on here earlier ..but forgot my message :rotfl:
Well this morning I really really wanted a bag of walkers cheese n onion  so tootled off to the Naffi and got one... trundled back ..sat down thinking mmmm gonna enjoy you.. opened the bag and the smell nearly knocked me out..they smelt so greasy...stuck one in and promptly spat it out againThey are soooo strong in flavour and taste so synthetic n chemically.... haven't had any since August and they used to be my weakness...well 1 of them
..... so the ditty birds have been fighting over them on the bird table all morning.
So i think its safe to say that i have lost my taste for crisps as well as choc now :j ..... plus i got an extra hours walk in to fetch the damn things :rotfl:
Have been in and out of the garden for most of the day... its lovely n sunny but still nippy..so regular mugs of tea have been the order of the day
Transplanted broccoli, swede, turnips, chard and more spring onions, salad leaves and set some oriental salad mix ..all the ickle seedlings are now out in the tent/cold frame thing soaking up the sun with the peas and later i will pop out and took them in for the nigh with fleece... Its the peas 1st night out and if the mouse gets em i am off in the morning for traps..even if he is a cute little thing...
Sorted out my seeds.... have 85 sorts  no wonder im running out of window bottoms (hence the transplanting today
)....
If everything survives me thinks we might have to get that extra freezer
Well meals today
brekkie was weetabix, lunch was a beef n mustard sandwich and i will sort dinner out later -when i can be bothered... hubby isn't back from golf until late tonight -so only have to feed myself...so can't be bothered..gonna put a pasta salad together for hubbies lunch at work tomorrow...and want to give the house a quick vacum and tidy.... been that wrapped up outside i have been a slack moo and not vaccumed today..dirty mare
Newlywed - i don't see why the scones wouldn't freeze.. I was thinking they might make a nice cobbler style topping on a veg chilli or something similar as a change from potatoes etc .
Hope you are feeling better... I have found that keeping in some cheap tinned fruit is brilliant as a standby for when funds are low or in my case when im a greedy moo and demolish all the fresh stuff in record time...
I can cope with running out of anything but fruit n yogs
Suzid.... :T i went back to butter from low fat spreads etc.. much nicer and not as packed with nasties... and sugar instead of sweeteners.. mind i only need 1tsp for my weetabix..don't have it on/in anything else
Welcome back Boo81
Cheerfulness... i still have flipper feet :rotfl: I walk round bare foot so much that when i lift my foot up it stays the same shape..where as most peoples feet get a bit wider when they stand up -mine stay the same... so heck knows where the fat has come off of
..still hate shoe shopping mind
Hello and welcome kunekune
well i hope everyone is feeling better soon... best get off i need to vaccum before that jamie oliver at home thing comes on..mind DB got me the book for xmas...very nice it is too
right im going..have a great evening everyone and god luck to those weighin in later-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Oh WOW - I finally stopped being lazy and made your tortillas MRSMC - why did I wait so long. They're miles better than the shop ones!
I'm a total piggy because I remembered you saying that 2 was a bit much for you so after my first one I had a very quick assessment  and ruled that I was lucky as I obviously needed two.Hmmmm, am totally stuffed 15 mins later
so I'm guessing I'm a 'one only' girl too.
Can't wait to show off my new found skill to the lads later. DS2 has put in an order for a jam one. I just know that DS1 will love them with curry in and chilli chicken. I can totally understand why you and OH have them often. Love it when I find something new to dish them up. :j
Okay, over excited and over full so I'd best try and walk it off doing a tidy up in the kitchen. Don't feel like I could eat for a week.
Catch up with you all later.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250
