So OK...I'm getting excited thinking about couscous:rotfl: :rotfl:
Mum & I shared a club sandwhich the other day with chicken on one layer & bacon & lettuce on the other, & the merest hint of mustard mayo.....very nomnomnom, & this from someone who doesn't have salad cream, mayo OR mustard on anything!
As said before, I'm a newbie to things like tortilla & wraps so need to go v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y especially where the offspring are concerned:p If I mix up some tom puree or stock cube with the water before adding the couscous, would that give it some flavour? Thinking about it I've not tried it with pasta either-- --wuddya think?
Something else I've been meaning to tell you guys is about soaking dried fruit like currants etc, in fairly hot black tea for a couple of hours before you use it. It plumps up the fruit & makes it look as tho you're using more than is actually there. Also me muvva simmers things like dried apricots, pears etc for the same effect on her cereals.
Good Luck with the w/i peeps.Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Yes stock makes a BIG difference to couscousI like to fry a finely chopped onion, sometimes a smidge of garlic puree, add couscous, stock (sometimes a squirt of tom puree too) and cook. Oh and sometimes I add the last scrapings of the curry paste jar (prob just teaspoon of mild/medium curry paste) too - gives it the weeniest bit of spice without being hot.
Then stir and add olives (but not when it's for OH), or chopped baby toms or cooked cold sweetcorn, or chopped sundried tomatoes or when cooled, add some chopped cooked chicken or whatever you feel like
I like it with all the bits stirred with salad for lunch
Cooking in stock makes a big difference to boring white rice too
PS. I don't like plain couscous cooked in water - find it a bit too blandworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Sorry, been reading and not really posted today.
Morning all, well done all losers - especially MrsM
Not doing too badly today... downloaded that brita drink reminder on the freebies and hopefully that will reduce the snacking
Breakfast was porridge with raisins and syrup
Snack was an apple
Lunch is Jacket pot with cheese and some sort of miniscule amount of bolognaise sauce from the freezer that I was too stingy to throw away
Tea is gammon steaks, green beans and sweetcorn.
Lunch time will be my walk to Aldi for some bits (2 miles total) - but if I want nice bread for the weekend then it'll be 3 mile walk to include Co-op - Prob have to go to coop first in case I can't carry all the stuff that far from Aldiworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Well done all losers, we are all doing so well!!!
Mrs M - well done on such a good loss, its such an inspiration to me who needs to lose 7 stone  that it is possible to lose large amounts. Stew was really good, family loved it. I am really enjoying cooking but not only because of me, I love knowing my family are getting a decent meal. My mum in particular is terrible, she works very hard and is happy just to have doughnuts and cereal for dinner! Its good to know shes getting proper meals in the evening.
Saversarn - If you feel slimmer but have put on, maybe its because your muscles are toning. Muscle weighs more than fat so possible they are getting firmer and sleeker!
At work today for the first time in ages :rotfl: so I can't go for my walk  . However, I will be on my feet for 5 hours and will make the effort to keep moving around and not stand about. Will wear my pedometre and see what an afternoon at work clocks up as.
Todays food:
B. - 1 x shredded wheat and semi skimmed
L. - 2 x beans on toast, apple and mullerlite
D. - quorn sausages, beans and SW chips
Have a great day all, hopefully we'll see Frogga back over the weekend. Total debt £21,000 :eek:Weight loss to date - 2 st, 2lb:j0 -

Put on 2.5 ounds. Rubbish. I cant believe I actually thought I would have lost ten pounds by next friday. All in all I have lost 3 pounds in 3 weeks. Not bad I know but sooooo frustrating! I hate having to think about everything I eat, I know I really need to get my activity levels up. I walked to work today as left the car here yesterday, so I could go to the pub!
Anyway:
B- 2 x wholemeal toast
S- 2 x tangerines
L- I have been so disorganised this week so will have something from the local rip of sandwich shop
S- banana
D- Who knows? I have a ww curry in the freezer, but I always feel like I should "treat" myself at the weekend with a bit greasy takeaway.
Right I have just decided, no takeaways this weekend,Compulsive Spendaholic #150 -

Hello everyone and THANK YOU for all the kind words of encouragement - they really made me feel encouraged when I just read through today's posts.
First of all :T :T :T to Mrs M and bobbadog, and still :T to Saversarn and skintbut - you are still carrying on and not letting a little gain put you off so that is great too.
After I felt so rubbish last night I felt like I had a hangover when I got up this morning and couldn't face any breakfast, so just had my Flora Pro-Active mini drink thingie. Took DD1 to school and then went into Morrisons for the weekly shop. Last week it came in at £60ish which was good but for some reason this weeks was £130:eek: , but that included three Easter eggs in mugs which were £3.99 each, £10 worth of flora pro actives which were on offer and lots of cleaning stuff. But it is still ridiculous. I didn't buy hardly any carp - just some biscuits which I don't like for lunchboxes (don't trust myself to bake until I am more firmly established back on the wagon IYKWIM) and a tub of chocolate ice cream, which again I don't much like. We seem to get through sooooo much food and not because of me honest! DD1 and her boyfriend eat sooooo much - they are both 6ft odd tall and seem to have hollow legs. He is seeminly always here and they spend all night drinking tea and eating toast, pizza, oven chips, breakfast cereal and other stuff. I only buy weetabix now after they ate two large boxes of fitnesse in one night last week. They also only drink fresh juice, not squash. Last Friday I bought 12 litre boxes of juice and there were none left on Sunday. I did get myself a lovely box salad from Morrison's salad bar - I know, I know - there are horror stories about communal salad bars but to be fair it was just after 8am and they were only just putting the stuff out so I was probably the first person to use it. There was a lovely salad on there which I think would be both healthy and easy to make - It was grated carrot, kidney beans, chick peas, red onion with orange vinaigrette - it was sooo nice!
So meals for today:
Breakfast - Flora pro active drink
lunch - salad from morrisons - hard boiled egg, carrot salad as above, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, ploughmans coleslaw (yummy and prob easy to make - cabbage, carrot, apple, onion and raisins), extra grated carrot and sweetcorn, - I had it with a small baguette with the bread middle scooped out and a bit of corned beef, followed by sugar free jelly and a squirt of low fat whippy cream.
Dinner - I am planning to make hm chilli and jacket potato wedges as I really fancy it. I got two steak pies for kids to have with potato wedges as they don't eat chilli.
Snacks - got some lovely strawberries and oranges so will have them.
Queenpig - still hoping for good news about your friend - what a nightmare - you just don't think of people being seriously ill through childbirth any more do you?
Hope you are all having a good day and thanks again for all your kind words of encouragement. I am determined to do this myself - I have coped with all kinds of things over the years and raised two kids on my own after my husband ran off with a well-known footballer's wife and every penny we had plus our car (that is not a tale for on here but was extremely traumatic!) so I am NOT going to let a relatively small thing like being overweight defeat me!Jane
