Weight loss the old style way part 3.

Hi everyone. As some of you know there's been some discussion lately on how to accomodate weight loss diets on the board. It was decided that the daily isn't the place for campaigns of any sort and that there was a very good weight loss thread on the I wanna board which would offer excellent support to anyone wishing to join.
The board guides have talked about this and we'd like to accomodate a weight loss campaign the OLD STYLE way here. However, in order for it to fit with the board, it should be about scratch cooking and healthy eating, NOT about where to get low calorie/fat ready meals cheaply or fad diets.
So, here it is. The Lose Weight the Old Style Way thread. This thread is for support in losing weight but in order to keep it true to the board - which is about money saving the old style way, there are going to be some posting guidelines.
Important. Please read:
The thread should be about healthy, old style eating. That means recipes and meal plans, support and encouragement and healthy eating. What shouldn't be accomodated here is if the thread goes off topic and covers ready meals, fad diets and weight loss clubs. There is a good thread that covers all that on the 'I wanna' board. So if the thread becomes an extention of that, we will have to close it and ask people to join in there instead.
Enjoy and good luck!

And the rest of the details:
Good morning everyone.
Well, I can see what a hot topic weight loss is. I have had more pms about this issue than I have about any other topic as a board guide, most of which have been about this thread, and the other board guides have had them too. If I tell you that EVERY ONE wants it to be done differently that is no exaggeration!
So here are a few more specifics about what this thread is and isn't in the hope that there is some middle ground that everyone can be on board with.
It is NOT a weight loss club. There is no membership to this thread and everyone is very welcome.
Recipes are welcome. It would help if they were highlighted in some way - eg by putting the recipe name in the title of the post, or making it a different colour, so they're easy to spot without trawling through lots of posts. It would also be helpful if people could copy them into the recipe index. (I'll post a link later.)
In order that it doesn't get too unwieldy, because there are SO many people interested, it would be useful if people didn't make LOTS of posts in the same day; perhaps one at the start of the day and one towards the end to say how you got on for example would prevent the thread becoming difficult to read for people who can't get here as often as others.
And for clarification, the other weight loss threads were closed because they were not money saving old style. It wasn't one board guide's decision - we were ALL following the rules set down by Martin and the team. While the threads were being closed, we were talking behind the scenes about HOW to accomodate this issue without it straying from the ethos and purpose of the board and we hope this thread provides a balance.
This thread is from all 3 of your board guides. I have volunteered to monitor it because I'm overweight and I'm hoping the thread will help me too.
Here are the rules on copyright and medical advice. If you're posting recipes, in particular, please read this.
I hope this helps everyone. Thanks.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

Well, did my weigh in this morning and have STS this week, but kind of expected that after losing 4lbs last week.
So sorry MrsM, didn't quite make the 7lbs in 4 weeks but 6 isn't to be sneezed at, and if I try hard I've still got a crack at Frogga's challenge (3 lbs to go)
Have been enjoying doing more things from scratch - think i'll have a go at making cheese bread today - have never made bread in my life so it may go horribly wrong _pale_ but worth a punt
Thanks for new thread GRI'd rather be watching CSI!0 -
Hi everyone
Feeling so much more positive today, must be the sun.
Alibow - hope today is going better for you. We all have those days, don't we?
Taplady - Tonight will be the night.. you wait and see.
Am going to sort out all my recipes today and get my menu plans done for the rest of the month. Did them all once and then lost it. Will be on paper this time.
Food today:
Readybrek
Beirweist (?) sandwich with HM seedy bread
Boiled ham salad with jacket pot and HM apple coleslaw
I've been dying to make this coleslaw since getting the recipe off another poster so todays the day.
Need to do some batch cooking for the freezers as trying to keep to my grocery challenge budget.
Going to make a batch of chicken pies from l/o roast from mum and some french bread and tortillas for lunches.
Have had quite a bit of exercise cleaning up this morning, and I'm going to gather the branches I cut off the buddliea (too done in to do it at time):o .
Just remembered :j my new tops from DS1 arrived (size 28) and they fit now. :T :T I know that seems really big to most of you but I've been wearing 30/32's for years. OH even said they looked a tad big. To top it all I ordered some pretty pastel jeans for my hols in Sept in a 28 fixed waist (I'm wearing 32's elasticated waists) and they fit too.:j
See... I might not look like I've lost anything (according to 'in the dog house' tactless son) but obviously something is happening. :j
Oh it makes it all worthwhile.
See you later girls and stay positive.MAY GROCERY CHALLENGE £0/ £250

Hey Gang...thought you could move house & I'd not find you eh?
I'm trying to stay on the straight & narrowing, but keep coming up against these huge crossroads, so I'm relying on yooze all to read the map while I drive:D On a positive note tho, I bought a little vest top thingie to wear under my V-neck black dress next week, & it wasn't from a barrage balloon factory either!
I'm thinking about seeing if my GP surgery has a w/i clinic, cuz I don't always get to a boots & definately not the same one on the same days of the week. That way I won't have to pay out for a new set of scales either, so that's gotta be MS too:p
Quick ?...I see some of you use LF soft cheese in recipes for things like pasta bake. Would you still make the usual cheese sauce type of thing but replace grated with a tub, or just wallop in a good splodge of laughing phillie & wait for it to melt? I'm afraid that my parents were not very adventurous in the cooking stakes....probably why I dream of lamb stew & huge fluffy dumplings:o
Must remember to take my pedometer when I walk Pup too, & look out for Tai Chi & maybe salsa classes.

Can I join this club??:D Have been reading a while! Have been dieting now for 5 weeks, but old scales were so useless, couldn't see what i'd/if any thing. i'd lost! Brought a new pair of digi scales, and lost 3 and a half pound last week. Have been doing loads more home cooking, for health and money saving issues, and as someone else said, never eat after 5..0

Hi everyone - thanks Gingham for the new thread!:T
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what to put in dishes to replace garlic other than mixed herbs. My DH goes mad if i so much as look at a clove of garlic and most dishes need a bit of something to give it flavor. I take odourless garlic capsules instead so I dont miss out on the health benefits!;)Do what you love :happyhear0
