Best decision of my life.. luckily my partner has the mortgage for our home in his name only.. so that was unaffected.. :D

I didn't really have anything else.. I sold most of it before bankruptcy to keep me going.. :o

Youa re now bankrupt for 1 yr, but if they want some of your wages that can be for up to 3 yrs. It all depends whether you have any disposable income at the end of the month, but there are lots of things you can claim for, expenses wise, so i'm not too worried about that. & even then it's got to be better than before!

I have a new bank account with the co-op which i'm really happy with, got a pre-paid credit card too, so things are going ok so far!

There is a bankruptcy forum on here if you wanted any further info or help, they are all very friendly over there..

    Good Luck x

Thanks very much!!! Seems liek you've made the right decision, well done you!

I am not considering bankruptcy as my debt is big (for me) but manageable if I pay attention to it. I hope to get it cleared soon. But I was wondering about the bankruptcy asit's such a scary word and I didn't know much about it....

so it did not affect your hubby, right? And you got a fresh clean start!!! :j

    I updated too!

But I forgot my nerd number, how do I find it? I did have one!!!!
Good for you for the day off, I wish I had one off...

enjoy the day and don't spend (a lot) remember you don't NEED that.... :T

For me, it's going to be diet cokes (can of six for £2.65 tesco) which will be enough for next week (I bring it to the office in lunchtime). and maybe a chunky cheese roll for 21p from tesco.

    x x

Pleasantly surprised that its half 1 and not a penny spent!
We're getting married in March (paid for by my loving parents), in new York and were thinking of a big reception party when we get back home.

I was looking at halls/hotel function rooms upwards of £300, but have been talking to an old friend who says he can get us a hall, with bar staff, for £60, which holds up to 200!

Its little things like that which will help me out as well, not just total no spenders but really sitting there and asking myself what Im getting for the money.
It's not just about DVD's... which reminds me (after we keep mentionning DVD's) was looking through our collection and I bought 2 before end of January, which I still havent watched! Maybe I should challenge myself to watch every single DVD I own before I'm allowed to buy a new one... then by the time I've done that, I'll probably have forgotten which one is was I was telling myself I NEEDED!

Hope you're having a good day Del' and keeping the spending low!

  • CAFCGirl - Well done for not having spent today! I have bought my diet cokes and cheese roll and nothing else (That's good!) but I have elaready had two cans of it (that's not good, I only should have had one...) and I feel very weak and craving ANOTHER can.... :(

If I do that, there will be less for next week, there will be only three, and I will ahve to spend again....

And on the other hand, one of my colleagues filled up the office "naughty bow" with jelly babies - I had 7!!! oh gosh, i am fat. - ok please give me a kick in the !!! here. At leats they did not cost anything! I am not spending more today! I am not spending more today! I am not spending more today.

Congrats on getting married - sounds wonderful!!! :T :T :T
Now you reminded me.. I have a few dvds I haven't watche yet, too! Not particularly interesting ones tho, but hey it's a dvd and it will do, I can always hop on the stepper or do my nails while watching them.... :j

Hope you're having a good day! I will be around today but not in the evening and not tomorrow as it's shabbat :o:o coming back tom eve!

ps: what a great religion is mine, it forbids spending one day a week. I never fully realised what a blessing it is. It's a dfw/mse religion!!!!

Ah I know the cravings only too well....
My suggestion.... go and get a glass of water, and sip that till its finished. If you're still craving it then, have another glass of water and sip that...
I'd say its probably a sugar high thats making you think you want another one....

What religion is the shabbat in? I'm so socially !!!!!! when it comes to religion!

And you're not fat Im sure, but I'd say 'reward yourself' for the jelly babies with an unwatched dvd and step-athon tonight. I've vowed to watch one of my dvd's tonight, memoirs of a geisha or curse of the golden flower? Hmm choices choices...

I wont be around tomorrow as Im working but mighthop on tomorrow evening.. I actually like working saturdays as it stops me from going out into the crazy high street and stressing out with all the crowds!:rotfl:

I've even managed to make dinner solely from the kitchen contents and convinced other half that we do NOT NEED any more dvds this side of payday (for him) and me (ever again!)

I'll work on him some more :)
