    Hi there :)

I know what you mean, looking at the CC bill and wondering where the hell it came from.. then looking at the items, and saying "Oh, that's it" and "Yeah, I remember now"....

But £1600 is not that bad, if it's on a 0% card I wouldn't pay it off with the savings as savings earn some interest. Wait until the 0% deal finished :)

    Good point!
    so you're a Waterstones addict? :j :T
Nope - Amazon. Far to easy to click on the send button.

    Hi Maggie

Thank you for posting - let's do a support thread and kick eachother's bum when it needs kicking.

Well done for the coach... now that was some sacrifice!! I did similar (not wuite the same but for me huge!) went to Heathrow on the tube, took 2 hours, and not with paddington express, saved £25!

What you said - "I want to be Debt Free more than I want that dvd.." - so true. This could be the third DFW commandment. Thou shalt not forget that thou wantst (or something like that) to be Debt Free more than anything else.
I've been webless for a couple of weeks  so I'm just catching up now :D - I've been reading the rest of the thread - and I LOVE your new sig line :D - can I sign up as a "I do not NEED that DVD" Tough Love Club member please?

Well done with the Tube! I hope you had a nice book or something, so you could turn it into rewarding you time (I can't read on the bus, but me and my cheapy mp3 player are making fast friends with podcasts and things) :D

So, are we supporting on this thread then? I've been working on the "ebay/amazon neutral" thing - I've sold off a whole lot of boxsets that I've watched once and have no desire to watch again, and that's my "play" money - I'm giving myself about £20 a month "pocket money" out of that, but knowing that when it's gone, it's gone, I'm hoarding it jealously! My month runs 21st to 21st (pay day) and I've spent less than £10 of it so far, and that was mostly on a hat (cosy!)... tricking my inner child seems to be working I think... If I just totally deny myself my inner 2 year old gets all stampy and awful, but she's quite happy if you give her a wee something :rotfl:

    Hi Del et al!

Hope everyones well, great to see so many people touched by Del's first post!
I've still got it printed out and safely tucked in my handbag!
Freakishly since I printed it out I have not spent a single penny! Now why is it when you've got very little money to spend you can quite happily not spend it, but yet when you've got some cash, you go crazy!

Got my lunch bought for me by my very kind Mum. Might have to, at some point this week, by some bread and milk LOL... Although realised earlier on that payday (for me) is only one week away and then I can go shoe shopping for shoes to go with my wedding dress! Which are budgetted for I have to add! Given myself a £60 max limit! Bluewater must be able to provide me with something! LOL

Anyways hope everyone else is doing well, anyone need an a$$ kicking yet?
Anyone been tempted by the DVD's of Evilness?

  • Hi Maggiebear (et al!) :)

Yes, you are welcome to join the club, I think you are now member #4 (somebody correct me if I am wrong!)

Hey if I am right you have about £10 for the next two days, don't you!! You lucky thing.... what will you spend it on? :):) if it was me it would be a dvd (EEEHHHHHH) a cheap one and well i dont know... oh what's happening to me, i can't spend £10??????????

    Let us know :)

DVD and unnecessarities report: pleased to report that today = NSD. Can't believe it! :) things are going so well. Also got a cheque for more than seven hundred from tax office - cant believe my luck, check out my diary for further info!

However, I will have to start a "tokyo fund" which is for my tokyo holiday - i paid for the holiday already, hotel too, but i want to save up for spending money so that i won't over spend or spend on cards. I think I will try and put aside £100 a month for this and then when we are there i can actually enjoy it and not worry about spending.

Still have one dvd to watch tonight!

Cfcgirl, its incredible that you haven't spent since printing out the post. It's fantastic! It makes me feel so nice inside :):) well done!!!! to answer your question about having little money/loads of money - its because we are siiiiillllyyyy :):):):):):)

Why don't you check out selfridges who STILL have Nine west shoes for sale for incredible prices - my friend bought a black beauty for £15 - nine west!!! and they are sooo comfy, i always buy nine west shoes on their final sale days :)

I am tempted by something else tho - i already put it in ym debt diary : gran canaria hol - £250, with the possibility of paying in installments of £50, and bearing in mind i just got a cheque for £700 ish i am considering it - now it's time for you to kick my !!!. (or maybe agree that i should go???? :):):):):)

charlies Angel, cut up that card, you don't need it.

Write down everything you spend on, everything!! And think befre you spend, it works for me sometimes... like yesterday, my friend owed me £2, so she gave it to me. Later on I got to tesco and I just REALLY wanted those blueberries for £1.99 (aren't they the best, love 'em...) - so I was thinking, this is exactly the £2, if my friend had given me a choice earlier, saying "do you want a packet of blueberries or do you want your two quid" what would I have said? It became obvious: I needed the two quid more than the overpriced blueberries :)

Virgin card: cut it up, cut it up! :j :j :T cut it up!!! snip snip
yum... blueberries! I've thought of growing my own but never quite got round to it..

all cards are cut up... i did it a couple of years ago, Virgin (MBNA) are just stupidly expensive..

i spend 11 quid a week or less on everything (food, electricity, cleaning stuff), i've paid off my mortgage... you'd think i'd be debt free too! lol

ah well... i'll keep working at it..

    CA x
Proud to have dealt with with my debts
Debt free from 18th March 2013, long may it continue!

how do you grow your own blueberries  i would LOVE to do that but how to start? I am just as addicted to blueberries as to diet coke... but dc is 60p a can and blueberries are £3 a pack....

at least youre mortgage free, that must mean something :) i wish i had a mortgage :p = i wish i had a flat!!!! one day. :T

  • Hey guys!

Gran Canaria huh! Well £250 isn't that much and if you've checked your finances and you can afford it then I think you should go for it. It might keep you motivated so you don't splurge on other stuff. As long as it doesn't make your debt any worse you should be alright.

And DH stands for dear husband (at least that's what I think it stands for! Hope it doesn't mean something else!)

I have't been too bad I did buy a bottle of Revlon nail varnish the other day but I normally get tempted by Chanel so i see it as an improvement :o

But I am only in the UK for another few days and I would like to get some clothes before I go as I need to look presentable for my new job. That will all have to depend on my car and how much it sells for really!

Ooooohh youre the first person who says I should go for it, everyone else said nooo (my little heart screams yes!!!) - I guess it will probably be a no after all

Well done for chosing revlon over chanel. :T :T :T that's what I'm talking about

How will you service your debt from abroad? You keep your uk current account and have part of your salary transferred to it? Make sure they dont rip you off when they are converting the currency... (its euro there isnt it)...

keep us updated on the car sale :)

Hee - Thank you! I have a spangly new line in my sig now :D

I do have £10 left - I'm thinking I'll roll it over to the weekend and spend it on a nice day at the farmer's market; the meat and veg are food budget, but the nibbly bits and breakfast/lots of coffee/sitting about in a cafe are not so £10 will cover that quite nicely :D - I think because I now have designated play money, I'm not so spendthriftish with it (I'm really not sure how that makes any kind of sense at all  , but it seems to work so I'll stick with it :D ).

Apparently adding things I really, really, want to my Amazon wishlist is emotionally the same as buying them (I suppose I have done quite a lot of my silly spending online, where it's not "real" money) - and I keep going in and deleting the things I've added, a week later, so yay? :T

YAY! On the NSD - I'll need to find your diary thread and check out what's been going on :D ; If the holiday's a considered purchase then go, but consider it, first ;) (although if you're making a Toyko fund, maybe the money would be better in there, to make Toyko truly magical?)

I'm NSD today, bar budgeted for veggies, so YAY me :D

I'm definitely in the club of having to write everything down to make me think - just knowing it has to go into the diary makes me really stop and think... as does not using plastic any more :). I do still have both Visa and VisaDebit - but that's for work (pay and claim back) mostly, but I don't use them - I haven't used them since I bought some things at Christmas that were cheaper on line - and the real money makes me really mean
