Last night I received a mail from Amazon, part of which said:

"We expect to receive payment shortly, and will contact you as soon as
that happens. Please continue to reserve this item for the buyer, but
DO NOT DISPATCH it until you receive confirmation from Amazon.co.uk
    that your payment is secured.

If 72 hours pass from the time of purchase and you have not been notified of payment, please consider the transaction void and relist your listing."

But I hadn't been notified of any sale anyway  The site was up and down today, but seems ok now, but should I mail and ask who it was meant for? Or wait until Amazon mail again?

    T.I.A. :)

The site was chronically slow this morning. After weighing up the pros and cons I have to say selling on Amazon is much more rewarding and relaxing than Ebay!!!

    Hey Sofa

I had the same thing happen a while back on this thread, see here and here, and the subsequent advice given :D

If you contrast this with ebay, not everyone pays for their ebay purchases with paypal the minute the auction closes so you can hang around for days waiting for the money and youpay a fee to paypal for the service too - at least this way you get the money that you were told you'd get, with no paypal deductions and fairly quickly too.

You just about summed up the difference AT - give me Amazon any day of the week - you know where you are = much less stressful.

    Thanks purplepatch :D

I had so many windows open and being on dial-up's not so good, so hope you don't think I was avoiding searching? ;)

    I'll check them out now.

    Thanks again :)

(Sold my 3rd book in about 6 days if this one sells!) :D

About an hour or so ago I got an email from Amazon saying that payment for one of my books is delayed and still pending.

First time I've come across this - how does this happen? They suggest waiting 3 days before relisting if payment doesn't follow.

Is there any point in me waiting, surely they would have paid straight away if they really wanted it? Can I relist now or do I have to wait?

    Sorry for all these questions!

(apologies if it's been asked before - I have read the whole thread and don't recall seeing anything about this...)

Thanks purplepatch .... I'll take my question above ;), from here onwards :D

And thanks to all that are replying. I can't thank you all at the moment because dial-up's a bit slow for thanking people and finding the answers to questions. :) But I will do eventually!

Not at all! Just glad to be of assistance :D

Well done for your successes. For this pending one, best bet is to find the buyer's email address from the recent transactions and ask them if they still want to proceed, saves you waiting 3 days before you can relist. I've had the pending thing happen 4 times in 40 odd transactions, 2 went through and the other 2 didn't.

Thanks for that about the billing history. Will have a look in a minute.

I must say I do wonder about sabotage. The one I had before, I'm almost sure it was as there was a new one listed at the same price as mine.

There doesn't seem to be any new items for this latest one, although I'm listing mine at a fiver cheaper than the next person. I figured that as it was a title that was still available elsewhere new, that it didn't make any sense to be selling it at an inflated price therefore listed mine at about 50p less than new elsewhere. Perhaps it was one of the other more expensive sellers....? Hmmm, maybe I should go and buy all of the other items too with false details! Tempting isn't it.

Wouldn't it be apparent to Amazon if people were doing this deliberately? Is it worth emailing them?

I'd made mine slightly cheaper purplepatch, but if the sale doesn't go through (re my earlier post) I'll hang on and relist.

I'm not desperate, but I'm not going to give books away ;)

Did you ever find out who was wanting to buy it? Or did Amazon tell you to relist it?

Well, he answered my email to say he still wanted it and there was a problem with Barclaycard. But then emailed me again a few hours later to say he'd changed his mind and I could relist

With the other one I had, I left it 3 days and relisted. Amazon never emailed me again after the first contact to say the payment was pending, so don't wait to hear from them. That's why I suggest contacting the mystery buyer to find out if they still want it - saves you waiting to relist. I'd say that if they haven't sorted out their payment within a few hours I'd guess that the sale probably isn't going to proceed

Did you find their email address? I recall it was a bit tucked away but I found it in the end. If you want me to be more specific about where to find it, let me know.
