  • Robnye, you wont go far wrong if you start with the first quote on this thread, that's all I used to get me going. Then scanned each subsequent page when I had time. You probably don't need to read it word for word right through - start at the top and get yourself started - good luck!
  • Hi Robnye, you have made a very interesting point - 220 posts is a lot to read through.

What I'll do is check and edit my first post to make sure that all the crucial bits that a beginner will need are in the one place then the rest of the thread can by perused at leisure
  • Thanks for all the posts and this thread. Ive been meaning to do this for absolutely ages and finally got round to it this afternoon - sold 2 already (inluding the Da Vinci code for nearly £3 once the left over postage taken into account). Have listed about 60 already and I still need to venture into the loft. Thanks again
  • Well done Lily the pink, great isn't it! Like pennies from heaven! Keep listing.
  • Posted all my old book are and have sold two!!!! Each for a penny!!!! But all those pennies soon mount up. And I can slip them into the work post so no postage costs!!

    I'm becoming an International seller!
Got books going to USA, Japan, Brazil and The Netherlands - and all for a healthy profit.

Now, any tips on packaging and tracking abroad?
  • Have to say i have sold books on Amazon previously before reading this thread and on some i made money and on others i lost money because of cost of postage.

However i read on another site something about a special postage scheme for books.

Not sure if its for just posting into europe though.

Will definitely have another go now i've read this thread.

The books i found that went quickest were anything to do with canals or narrowboats, when i bought them i was looking to downsize onto a narrowboat.

I wonder if you mean the 'printed paper' rate? it's available worldwide and it's just a shade cheaper than 'small packet' rate but it's just for airmail, surface mail is the same rate for anywhere in the world whether it's Australia or France. Have a look at www.royalmail.com

Cymro - just make sure that you get a certificate of posting from the PO and keep it until the package arrives.

I've never gone overseas with Amazon, just ebay. I think if you look on the Amazon website there will be plenty of info on international trading

I've just sold my tenth book since reading this thread, and made myself £85 profit!

Thank you so much. It has made a difference.
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!
  • I'm looking forward to getting the internet sorted in my new place - got a pile of books ready to add on but don't want to as I can't guarentee how regularly I'll be online over the next couple of weeks
