  • Yea it does.

    instead of IPCONFIG.

Type IPCONFIG/ALL and then press enter.

Then paste everything you see in the black screen here.

The way to copy and paste from in there is right click the black screen, hit MARK - mark all the text with your mouse - go and click the ICON in the top left whilst its MARKED and go to the EDIT menu and select COPY and then simply paste in here.

This can be fiddly, and you cant use CTRL+C - you must use the COPY from the EDIT menu.

There mustn't be a recovery partition on your hard drive, try booting into windows and pressing ALT + F10 to see if you have the Acer eRecovery software, if you have the default password is 000000, then choose Recovery Settings and click Next. Then choose burn image to disc and click next, then select Factory Default Image and click next, this should burn a recovery cd to restore the computer.
  • Mancunian and gave up drinking - ill do it for a chocolate biscuit tho!

Nah joke, just do that thing i said about with IPCONFIG/ALL

The other way to copy that info is to maximise the black window, click PRTSCN button on your keyboard, open up MSPAINT and press CTRL+V.

Save the file as a JPEG and email it me.

Couldn't she just uninstall the wifi card in device manager and have it automatically reinstall on restart?
  • Depends but chances are high that she will need the driver.

If you have the eRecovery software you can reinstall the wireless driver with it by going to Recovery Actions, then Reinstall applications/drivers.
  • Firstly before uninstalling/reinstalling anything i would like to see the results of IPCONFIG/ALL

Then if need be, we will reset your TCP/IP stack and WINSOCK settings, which are things that can cause internet connectivity problems.

To do this, disconnect any wires and turn your wireless adapter off (maybe a button or something on your laptop)

    Then:

Start > run > cmd and type this : netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt and hit ENTER

Then restart the PC and when you log back on

Start > run > cmd and type this: netsh winsock reset catalog and hit ENTER

Then restart your PC again and turn on the Wireless and see what it picks up.

All this comes after we establish the first thing above.

    Im offsky for tonight.

  • Auto configuration IPV4 address...: 169.245.215.95(prefered)

Theres your problem - this is not a valid DHCP address.

Go into CMD and try this:

    ipconfig /release

Wait a few seconds and then do ipconfig/all

    The above should now become:

    Auto configuration IPV4 address...: 0.0.0.0

Then restart the laptop and do an ipconfig/all and paste me that line. The part we are interested in is:
