  • Hi everyone - Im a newbie to this board! 2010 needs to be a change for me, was really shocked seeing christmas party photos of myself, so I have to do it. swam 3 times last week and am going for 2nd time this week today. Also have COMPLETELY cut out the nibbles. not sure how, but this is week 2 of eating no crisps, bics, sweeties, cheese, very little bread and so far I am still fairly motivated!! Also have been having special K twice a day since 4th Jan instead of mayonnaise smothered sarnies and crisps at lunchtime!! I long for people to say "oh look at YOU" but to my face and in a nice way for a change! Just wondered, by losing, say, 2lbs a week how long would it be before I start to notice a difference in my shape? Im not really in to weighing myself as I get paranoid about it, so thought I would just go by how comfy I feel in my clothes. I already feel a bit less bloated, so wondered if it is possible it is having some effect after 2 weeks?

Anyway, brill thread, I think you are all fabulous!
Feel free to thank me, it makes my toes tingle and my ears go warm :T

  • Hi Tara - I've found my trick is this - I have breakfast when I get in to work, so thats at 8.45. When I used to have it at 7am, I was hungry again by the time it got to 9.30!! So I have brekkie at 8.45 (special K) and a huge mug of boiled water still hot which fills me up, then everyone in the office here has break at 10.30, but I leave it til 10.45 and very slowly eat a snack bar. Again having it that little bit later seems to have fooled my body that it can last a bit longer. Lunch here is normally 1-2, but I have been going swimming at 1, then coming back and getting another bowl of special K at just before 2 and eating it really slowly, more hot water and then just keep myself as busy as possible all afternoon. I have nothing in the officer here, so I have no choice but to get on with it until I get home. Hubby cooks tea, so I keep busy with the kids until 6 and thats me. THen I KNIT all evening to stop nibbling on the sofa LOL!!! So for me so far (not that I am an expert after 2 weeks!) its eating later than usual, and keeping busy and distracted. If I start to think about food I do something else. So far so good - fingers crossed!! What about you?

I just give in most of the time lol! Although yesterday I said no to myself several times and felt so proud this morning. I feel like if I can do it one day then I can do it the next.

When I was slimmer I had no problem saying no to stodgy food, because it actually made me feel heavy and bloated straight away. The heavier I get, the less my body tells me not to eat that stuff. So I am more or less having to relearn what used to come naturally to me.

I don't eat breakfast till I get to work either, it definitely helps.

  • Im the same - I remember "in the old days" my husband and I (as impoverished students!) used to share a goodfellas pizza and there was enough left for packed lunch the next day for both of us. Now we could eat one each and half a loaf of garlic bread each too - how did THAT happen LOL!!! I agree it is a whole relearning process, convincing yourself you are not going to WASTE AWAY if you dont have that pack of crisps or 3 biscuits with a cuppa. It had got to the stage where I couldnt have a cup of tea without 3 biscuits...why? My body must have convinced my brain. So I am drinking lots more hot water now instead - the biccies dont taste half as good dunked in hot water LOL!!

  • PS - 136lbs doesnt sound too bad? Im much more than that, and will be more even with my planned weight loss of 2 stones...hope youre not being too hard on yourself?

    You are so right!

Yes, I know I am less than ten stone, but I am only 5'3" so it reeeeally shows. I used to be size 8 (which is the size all my nice clothes are grr), now I'm a 12. And when you're this short, size 12 is quite big. :o I need to lose at least a stone, preferably 20lbs.

    p.s. :rotfl: at your sig

I knew there was something I had to do this morning :wall::wall::wall:

OK, so it won't be as accurate as doing the morning weigh in but better than nothing.

BG23 - wow I'm impressed! You're doing SO well!! Gotta confess that I'm finding fitting in the exercising isn't going too well for me. Managed to get out for a very chilly walk on sunday, and have only been on the wii fit once... have to boot the kids off it when I want on, and by the time they're all in bed its past 9pm and I'm too tired!! Now, if only I could get myself out of bed earlier in the morning I wouldn't have an excuse!!

Eating going pretty well surprisingly! And I'm getting my head around the WW site now and liking it more. There's a tracker that you can use to add up how many points u've used, although I admit I haven't been weighing my food... plus there is a big focus on the WW readymeals which don't appeal at all! I put my weigh in day as Sunday and last Sunday lost 4lbs which I know was mostly water, but got me going... have to see if I can change the WI day though... seeing as weekends are my downfall!! What was I thinking!?!
