    Me again! Quick Q

Does anyone know if B&Q still give a 10% discount to pensioners on a Wed? Have asked on the DIY board but no replies yet. I also searched but i only found a thread from 2006 and it might have changed since.

    Thanks

    Kate xxx

Yes they do, we will only ever shop on Wednesdays so we get the discount.

Went to the allotment this morning, it was quite nice, but I was not really in the mood, feeling a bit eeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkkkkkk with the cystitis, had to have 2 'squats' behind the shed..........

Weather is lovely but frost forecast for tonight.....so watch your delicate plants....

Bread and cheese for lunch, have just been round to see my friend, make sure she was ok after last nights excitement........it set me thinking I need to photograph the things we have in the apartment, if I store them in webshots, should the worst happen I will still be able to access them. We have a lot of antique crystal glasses which cannot be replaced. I treid some years ago to replace a champagne flute and was told I would be very lucky to find a match.................keep looking on ebay but nothing as yet.

Spag Bol with garlic bread for supper, have just done a rhubarb, raspberry and blackberry crumble for pudding. Might just treat myself to a glass or two!!!! we are getting low on wine now, will not last till we go to France....

I didn't win last night either!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Afternoon all

PP - Cake looks yummy, as does your kitchen - I prefer the new look - easier to keep clean too I'd imagine?

    Hugs to all in need.

Replied to an add on Freecycle last week for some cookery books - she said there was a few but they were a bit tatty - when DH went to collect she'd found some more to add to the pile and they were all like new - 16 books all in all - shall keep me busy for a while.

Been following the shabby chic thread, always liked that sort of style but DH isn't keen, inspired by some of the pics I thought I'd price up a small welsh dresser that I could paint up for the kitchen, had a look on ebay/local paper but nothing that took my fancy so put an ad on freecycle - I've never asked for a big item before but thought it might be worth a shot.....got an email yesterday to say a woman had one in her shed - if we wanted it we'd have to unearth it......popped along and it's just the right size, it was a dark stained wood but it's now looking all bare as I've sanded it all down, the top looks like oak, along with the legs, shelves and some detailing....will wax that up, the rest will be painted a lovely sagey green - will post some pics when I'm done.

DH has made a yummy smelling curry for tea, he's stripped all the beds and done all the washing, he's even cleared up after himself in the kitchen - I wonder what he's after!! :rotfl:

Ebay sales finish tomorrow - bids up up to just over £70 at the moment so very pleased.

Hope you all have a great evening.

    PS

Going down the complete kitchen refurb. Will get down to posting the awful before pics and then the after. A fairly small gallery kitchen so not much room for change but can't wait for new flooring and doors too! Costing a fortune but well, still spending DH's lump sum and a once only. Current kitchen about 35 years old!

Just worried I am not happy with end result but sure I will be!

    Hello everybody,

Doesn't the weather make such a difference to how you feel? I have been up and doing since before 9 this morning...very early for me in my recent past...did the food shopping, managed to get some half price stuff in Tesco, got the thingies I needed to hang three door curtains and sixteen cotton dishtowels in blue and white check for €4.98...have enough dishtowels, plan on turning these into placemats and napkins for the kitchen...very pleased with myself.

Have decided that the money I had 'ring-fenced' for the kitchen will be better spent on insulating the old part of the house roof....house was built around 1800 I think and may not even have roofing felt, have been talking about insulation for years but house never really felt cold until this winter...no attic as such so will have to have the stuff that is blown in...no idea how much it will cost, with my OH there is no question that it could be a DIY effort. Kitchen is going to get a cheapie revamp...if I could get rid of the men in my life for a day or two and borrow a couple of burly men somewhere I would have it done, mine just keep saying I'm mad wanting to do what I have suggested...mad I will agree to but its my bl**dy house and I can do what I want with it! Rant over.

Need to get back to knitting as I would like to move on from baby clothes for a little while.

    Have a good weekend all

  • Yes its me yet again, bet your all sick of the sight of me :D

I'm gonna just go and hide under the duvet or something, now my microwave has broken, its just gone off right in the middle of cooking. Have replaced the fuse in the plug but no joy :(

Problem is that due to the c**p oven in this house we rely on the microwave for everything really. Its only 2 months old, i bought it at the end of Nov to replace my previous one which did the same thing (only that was 3 yrs old).

Grrrrr! Its not my week is it lol?!  I could just cry :(

Awwww Hugs to you Kate - I know it doesn't help now but take it back as soon as you can for a replacement. What's wrong with the oven? Might be worth looking or asking on freecycle for a replacement?

  • Evening all :j

Hope you're all having a lovely Saturday! We've been to my niece's 2nd birthday today. I made her birthday cake last night. One of those fairy's with the pudding bowl skirt, and crinolene (sp?) layers on it - took me 3 1/2 hours last night  It was worth it though for the look on her face - when she saw, and when she ate it :rotfl:

I'm seriously falling behind in my OS ways - struggling to fit work, home, DH and DD all in :o House is an absolute wreck. Need to catch up with washing/ironing/cleaning etc etc  Also need to make some cakes for my boss's birthday this week. I'm making little almond cupcakes with white chocolate frosting and little miniature icing rosebuds on top. She's worth it though - she's offered to pay for me to go back to college in September (and have the day off work to do it) - extremely grateful :D

Penny-Pincher - meant to say I have the same worktops as you :D Also I bought the tray and tray bake container from Lakeland on your recommendation and am well impressed (although I haven't made a bake yet :o )

Might prepare all the veg for tomorrow's roast (pork and crackling with HM stuffing, roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots, broccoli and HM gravy and HM apple sauce).

Have a glass of wine in my hand - so think I'm not going to beat myself up over the state of the house tonight - leave it till tomorrow and face it head on ;)

Anyway I'm rambling - (((((hugs))))) all round
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
