OS Daily Saturday 9th Feb 08

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 9th February.. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning folks.

Hope every one is well? For most of us I guess the half term has started. That means a week of not having to make packed lunches.

I am off for 4 days and no work until Wednesday after noon.
Today I think we are going to Truro and check out the shops. I don't need anything, but I have M & S vouchers and some birthday money left, so I might see if there is anything that takes my fancy. I want a new suit, so we shall see.

Got some great sailing boots off ebay this week. £12.50. I found them on a Scandinavian website for £139. I guess I did OK. I think the foreign brand name put people off.

Well folks have a nice day..

Did'nt win the Euro millions

Morning n9eav and all who cross/follow.

Real bargain you found there n9eav. Quietish day at DGville today, carnival parade in local town tonight, but doesn't start until 9 pm (or later, time is irrelevant here). Considering trying to find a restaurant on the route to sit and eat and watch it go by. Everyone should be in fancy dress, but it is not really us.

(((hugs))) to those who need or would like one. Hi to everyone else.
    Take care - DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Morning N9eave and Donny-Gal and everyone else who follows. Frosty here but a beautiful sunrise in the distance.

Went down to London yesterday to meet up with friends for dinner (special occasion). Tried to make the trip as moneysaving as possible so only bought my train ticket and then decided to walk everywhere else. Went to the Tate Britain for the afternoon and then met up with OH and our friends for dinner. Had missed lunch etc to make room for the dinner, but had forgotten (long time since I'd seen these people) that they prefer to drink, not eat. So the upshot was that I was given a tiny plate of tapas to eat and gallons and gallons of red wine :o

Eventually rolled home at about 2.00 this morning and woke up at 6 starving :rotfl: Have had a cup of tea and a piece of HM bread and butter to keep me going until breakfast time ;)

Sloshed something tomatoe-y down my new silk shirt so that is currently in the washing machine  . I think I'm too old for all this gallivanting :rotfl:

Will have poached eggs later on to redress the balance and then make HM pizza for supper.

    Have a great Saturday everyone!

    Hi all :hello:

Our new piggymouse (great word btw, I can't remember who said it - I think it was Pooky?) is a loon. He's 8 weeks old so very small. The bottom of the cage is 7 inches tall, we opened the cage yesterday and he backed into the back corner then ran towards the front opposite corner and leapt out  Then he happily sat there warbling while mr tru stroked him :D We've called him Beans :D

Master tru till hasn't hung the gate  He's made it though, and says he'll hang it today. Mr and miss tru are working today.

I still haven't done the ironing, I WILL do it today. I want to do some bits in the garden but haven't checked the weather yet, hopefully it'll be dry for at least an hour, that's all the time I need.

Frosty here this morning, another bad nights sleep here, the phone was ringing a 12:45, it wasn't for us, but I was awake till 4, still as it's aturday I was able to sleep in till 7:30.
WM is on, I'll hang the washing on the line if it stays dry.
Hubby has his tail between his legs ATM, he got very drunk last night & very silly & very boring. We met up with a friend who's been abroad for 4 or 5 month, I sat for 3 hours listening to them talk the biggest load of b*****ks ever.
Mt T is due later today & the inlaws are coming for lunch tomorrow so I better do some housework.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning everyone :hello:

Woohoo! It's half term for me too. Goodness knows why I'm up now. I should be in bed until at least midday. :D

Last night I went to a meal in aid of a local group that I belong to. The main course was a leg of lamb that was brought to the table and one of the people had to carve it. I thought that was such a clever idea as it was so much easier for the organisers and quite novel in a normal meal.

I had a "review" with the head teacher yesterday. She's never been very positive towards me - until yesterday. She was almost nice. I'm still looking for a new job though, and she's still a muppet who doesn't really have a clue what is going on. :rotfl:

Whilst I was having my meeting with the head, DH was having a review meeting with his boss - and he got a payrise, thanks to the exam that he passed earlier in the week!

It's the farmers' market today in town, so if I get out of my PJs anytime soon, I'll pop down to it. We're also meeting up with my parents before watching rugby this afternoon..........

    Have a great day everyone.

    Morning everyone

Vicky, I can't quite believe I am up at this time on a Saturday as well! Well done on your review, at least that's all documented so you have a positive history in your employment. Best of luck with your job hunt - it's not easy is it...

My plans for today are very loose indeed. The only thing I must get done is to go to my friend's house and give her cat a worm tablet. She has tried to administer the tablet mixed with food but the cat spotted that one right away. My friend is too gentle to hold that cat's jaw open and shove the tablet down - me, I've got no worries about that!!

    Have a wonderful Saturday everyone.

  • Morning all, not had much time to post the last few days, been busy getting myself a Job. Start work on Monday. Looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time.
Must spend the rest of the weekend baking:rolleyes: to prepare for next week. My main concern is being able to drop off the kids at school and getting there on time and vice versa to pick them up from school. The timings are tight to say the least. Ah well, don't know until you try. My two are not on half term until the week after next.
Hope you all have a fantabulous weekend. Best wishes and hugs to all who need them.

    Good morning everyone,

Im up, showered and dressed and the WM is on. DS has a football match this morning, and we have to be out the door at 9.30, so i want to get as much done now as i can.

Once football is over, we will be home for the rest of the weekend, so cleaning and working out my finance are on the cards for later. We also have half term, which i love (love my children being home!!!) so i will still be working, but the older ones are a lot less work than the babies and often help out, which is great for me!

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
