Oh dear, just scoffed a jam doughnut with my coffee. I could do with losing a few pounds instead of putting them on. All my new clothes are a size 12 and I ended up getting rid of my 14's as there wasn't enough room to keep them.
  • hello everyone.

Although I do from time to time lurk on the daily, I haven't been here for a while. However as I've been doing better keeping upto date on the GC thread, I thought I'd try here too (in the past it's always moved too quickly for me!). Hope you don't mind me joining you all?

I think I've timed it right having seen the photo of PP's kitchen, it's beautiful.. I loved the 'where the old style magic happens' thread. (I do also get kitchen envy everytime I visit that thread). I can't wait until we have our own home again.

I'm a SAHM with 2 dds and another one due in a couple of months. My budgeting is my contribution to the household income. Different cravings don't help with the shopping budget though!

Wow pp thats a lovely new kitchen - must have cost a few pennies that one. Didnt know you were having one fitted.

One day I may be able to put a piccy of mine up but it could be another few months at my kitchen fitters rate:D

Jobs going very slowly this end - must try harder:rotfl:

Thanks Nels. Its the same kitchen units (fitted by OH 5 years ago), just different worktops, sink and tap. OH just moved one of the units around as we had to move the DW. I think it cost about £200 in all. The worktops are the cheapies from B&Q, sink and tap off Ebay:D

What colour kicthen did you go for in the end?

Hi everyone. Hope all are enjoying today. Your kitchen looks lovely penpin. We need a new kitchen...problem is ours has been very badley designed and I fear it will cost an absolute fortune to have it redesigned and cooker/sink moved etc etc. Main problem is we only have 4 base units and 2 of the cupboards are so narrow. We only have 5 top cupboards and 2 of them are really narrow too. The person who put the new boiler in (whenever that was) has left a mishmash of pipes all over the shop, it just looks so messy and we have hardly any decent worktops. We have work tops in 4 different places-2 of which are such tiny areas-be glad when my pantry is finished and when we eventually embark on a decent kitchen... Haven't checked my euro millions ticket yet, Ah well, perchance to dream. Sorry about rant, sometimes though I just need to get it out of my system. Thanks.

  • Me again! Quick Q

Does anyone know if B&Q still give a 10% discount to pensioners on a Wed? Have asked on the DIY board but no replies yet. I also searched but i only found a thread from 2006 and it might have changed since.

    Thanks

Checked out euro lottery last night and won zilch !! OH was most put out............lol £3 he'd spent !!
I'd love a new kitchen - OH sort of did ours so its not really 'fitted' at all..........still, serves the purpose and will have to do for now. Seriously thinking about giving it the once over with paint though.Anything to brighten it up and make it look better than it is...............lol

OH is a chippie by trade and in the past has always used a company called "Howdens" to purchase kitchens and appliances as he could buy them at trade cost. They actually supply the likes of B&Q and Homebase etc. If you need any help planning the kitchen just give us a shout (via PM) and im sure he will have a look for you. He would just need the size of the kitchen, what appliances you would need and whther you have a boiler or anything else in there to take into consideration. Our original kitchen from them cost under £1000 including all worktops, sink and cooker. That was 5 years ago though and they are Shreiber units.
